After completing his undergraduate degree at The University of Texas-Pan American, Dr. Tijerina pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. Today, he is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is always looking for new continuing education opportunities to expand his clinical skills. He has a particular interest in esthetic dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation.

Dr. Tijerina is happily married to his wife Lizette, who teaches 1stgrade. They have a sweet baby boy named Lorenzo who was born on 2/20/20! When he isnt busy at the dental office, his top priority is always getting home to spend quality time with his family. Other hobbies include exercising, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and reading a good book.

A McAllen native, Diane completed her Bachelor of Dental Hygiene at Baylor College of Dentistry. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literate from Pan American University. Today, her career in dentistry spans over three full decades! She loves having the wonderful opportunity to share her dental hygiene skills and heart with each lovely patient, as well as working alongside such a talented staff.

Dianes family consists of her spouse Justice Jamie Tijerina, her daughter Katie, and her beautiful toddler grandson Dominic. She also has a Terrier mix named Benny and two Lady Gouldian Finches. In her free time she enjoys golfing, walking/jogging, reading, hiking, cooking, playing games, spending time on the beach, and traveling just about anywhere with her husband. Shes also an avid amateur bird watcher.

Frances career in dentistry spans over two full decades so far, and shes built countless meaningful relationships with our patients throughout the years. She studied at South Texas College and RGV Careers; she is a Licensed Vocational Nurse in addition to her oral healthcare expertise. She had horribly crooked teeth when she was younger and wore braces twice, which sparked her initial interest in this field. Today, shes still looking to truly perfect her smile!

Stephanie has been working in dentistry for over seven years now, with most of that time spent right here. She is currently studying at South Texas College and is a Certified Nurse Assistant. What she enjoys most about her role at the dental office is interacting closely with patients and helping them navigate their insurance/payment questions!

Stephanie was raised by her mother and has a younger sister named Kimberly who lives in Austin. She is also a proud Dog Mom to her Chihuahua Nayla. With two jobs AND college classes on her plate, naps are absolutely essential at the moment! She also enjoys working out at the gym, reading, listening to inspirational podcasts, and going out/traveling with friends.

Guadalupe studied dental assisting at South Texas Vocational Technical Institute and has been working in this field for nearly five years. She is trained in PALS and nitrous oxide as well. She truly loves what she does at our office!

Mayra studied at Chattanooga State and has been working in dentistry for nearly a full decade. Today, she is a licensed dental hygienist in the states of Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. She loves being able to spend one-on-one time with her patients and build relationships over time. So many visitors have dental anxiety, and helping them feel comfortable while taking care of their smile needs is always so rewarding. As a dedicated hard worker, shes the perfect fit for our practice!

Mayra recently got engaged to her fianc Roberto. They made the decision to move to Texas in January of 2020, but she still video chats with her family in Georgia daily. She has a sister and two baby nephews who fill her life with joy. As for personal hobbies, she spends her free time dancing, cleaning, traveling, and doing yoga.

The most basic treatment for treating advanced gum disease, scaling and root planing is very effective at removing plaque and tartar from areas above and below the gum line. This stops the infection of your gums from spreading and reduces future recession, a symptom commonly caused by gum disease. Youll need to visit our dental office once every three to four months for treatment. Thankfully, our soft tissue laser therapy can make the process much easier.

Also known as Chlorhexidine, Peridex is a topical antiseptic designed to clean areas of the body prior to treatment. In this case, it is used to clean the gums after weve removed plaque and tartar from the teeth. It dramatically reduces the amount of bacteria in the mouth and generally used to treat symptoms for gingivitis, which include swelling, redness and bleeding. Its a great way to reach all the deep areas of the mouth that often go missed.

In between your deep cleanings, we need to make sure that your gum disease does not come back. Following your scaling and root planing treatment, well apply Arestin antibiotic to the deep pockets of your gums. Once applied, the antibiotic slowly absorbs into the gums throughout the day. Overall, it works to directly treat infected gum tissue, reduce the risk of the infection coming back, and promote healing of the gums so they can be ready for future deep cleaning treatment.
