Dr. Raymond Cleary is a native of Cincinnati, OH and received his dental degree from Ohio State University. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force and served as Director of Operative Dentistry at Shaw Air Force Base. Afterward, he moved to Surfside Beach, and established his first dental practice, which became Glenns Bay Dental in 1985.
Dr. Cleary has always had a strong sense of community and an unwavering desire to serve, which led him to his work as President of the Grand Strand Soccer League. Dr. Cleary also served as President of the Grand Strand YMCA, Sertoma, Rotary, the Dental Hygiene Board and the Board of South Carolina Dental Associates. He was also instrumental in the organization of two community banks, all the while maintaining a successful dental practice.
In 2004, Dr. Cleary was elected to the South Carolina Senate, where he sponsored and passed the first bill concerning autism and sponsored the Raffle Bill, which assists all non-profits, especially the Shriners and Lions Clubs. After 12 years in the Senate, and while simultaneously serving his dental patients, Dr. Cleary chose not to seek election for the then unopposed Senate seat. In 2018, Dr. Cleary left Glenns Bay Dental, where he most recently returned to its physical location (1625 Glenns Bay Road), and reopened the practice as Tidelands Dental.
Dr. Russell Boatwright grew up in Columbia, SC. He graduated from the Citadel in 1981 and from MUSC's Dental College in 1986. Later that year, Dr. Boatwright moved to Conway SC, where he remained in dental practice for the next 34 years, expertly meeting the dental needs of residents of Conway and beyond.
Dr. Boatwright shares Dr. Cleary's strong sense of community and has served as Past President of Grand Strand Dental Society, Pee Dee District and the Conway Sertoma Club. Additionally, Dr. Boatwright was nominated Sertoman of the Year in 1992 and served on the MUSC Board of Visitors.

Horrible service. Tidelands doesn't work with their patients. I've never been to a dentistry that had such horrible manners. -I read all the great reviews about them and I was highly disappointed. As you can read in other previous reviews that are not mine the billing process is dishonest

In Myrtle Beach for a Golf tournament in October and had a sudden dental emergency and Katy got me in to be seen within an hour of me calling the office. The Doctor and entire staff were spectacular and very accommodating. Would recommend them 100%.

I had a bit of a dental emergency while vacationing in Surfside. I called at 8am when they first opened and was seen at 9am! My issue was quickly treated and the rest of my vacation was preserved! Every staff member I encountered was extremely friendly and courteous. The doctor was understanding and efficient. I was very impressed with the care they provided to an "out of towner" who they most likely would never see again. Wish I could give them 10 stars!

Dr. Boatwright at Tidelands Dental is a Great dentist! He takes good care of his patients, does a great job, is a kind man, and the prices at Tidelands are awesome! I tell all my friends about him.

Needed an emergency appointment for list front filling. Took me the next day and repaired the tooth. I am definitely uncomfortable with dentists, however Dr. Cleary was terrific. Patient and considerate of my feelings and talked me through the whole process. Will definitely return for further care of my teeth. I was home by 8 am and feeling great.

On vacation experiencing tooth pain. Called Tidelands Dental and they got me in the same day. Office staff was very friendly and professional! Dr. Cleary spent a good amount of time with me discussing options. I was very pleased with my visit and highly recommend them!

It is frightening and potentially very serious for a chemotherapy patient to develop any type of infection. When I called my regular dentist after waking up with a painful and swollen area on my lower jaw, I was told that I couldn't be seen for 2 weeks. I called Tidelands Dental and was scheduled to see Dr. Boatwright. Dr. Boatwright is very kind and compassionate and I am happy to be a new patient. Thank you Dr. Boatwright!

Such a wonderful friendly office! We are here on vacation and they went out of their way to help with our emergency dental needs. Wish we had a dentist like this back home! I would recommend anyone to go to their office for care.

Mr cleary is absolutely amazing. I don't think I could have made it through this dry socket with out him and his assistant kim. He had never seen a tooth like mine in 47 yrs. He did not let this tooth defeat him. I am so thankful for this team. I definitely recommend me cleary. Thank u to this amazing team.

Honest and quick. Found out my tooth had a tiny piece that was extra material from old filling. They said the filling was solid. My charge part was 7 dollars after ins. Thank you!!

I called and emailed about an issue I had with a procedure done but no one would respond to either one. I will say the staff and dr were very nice when I was there. I was a walk-in from out of town. Received a call from Peter today and issue was resolved very satisfactory. It was just a matter of miscommunication. I would definitely use them again.

Dr. Cleary is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to. I've always been nervous and anxious going to the dentist. But Dr Cleary makes you feel calm and he's very quick and efficient. He recently did a bridge on me and now I can smile confidently and feel good about my smile. He gave me so much more than teeth. I'm so incredibly happy.

I called Friday morning told the women that answered the phone I had a emergency I needed a tooth pulled she told me to come in at 1140 and if she had an opening she'd call and let me know 9am she called told me to come in gottheforthe first time and tthe staff and Dr. Cleary were the best
