Dr. Winter is a native of Berryville, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural History and a minor in Architecture. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from West Virginia University and completed his Pediatric Dentistry specialty training at the Bon Secours St. Marys Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Tidewater Dental Association.
Dr. Winters love of caring for children of all ages began when he worked as a pediatric dental assistant during college. While in dental school and residency Dr. Winter participated in a variety of volunteer opportunities including: Special Olympics, Missions of Mercy Project, Give Kids a Smile Program, and food drives with his church. After countless soccer tournaments, fishing expeditions, and golf outings, he is excited to call the Tidewater area home. Dr. Pam and Dr. Winter were married in Richmondin 2016.Their daughter Claire and twin boys Nathan and Jacob keep them busy throughout the year.While theirspecialty training took them to different states, they are ecstatic to be raising their family and calling Chesapeake home.
Tina and her husband Tim moved to Chesapeake from Front Royal, Virginia, where she was a pediatric dental assistant for 10 years. She loves joking around with the kids and giving them a great experience at the dentist. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, cooking out, going to the movies, and concerts (especially Justin Timberlake). She also enjoys going back home to spend time with friends and family, especially her grand daughter Layla, and great niece Sadie.
Tiera chose pediatric dentistry because she loves teeth and all of the fun being around children brings. She especially loves pediatrics because she feels it is very important for parents and children to be well informed as soon as possible, and she thinks every child deserves an awesome dental experience. In her free time she enjoys relaxing, taking trips and spending time with her loved ones.
Tabitha loves working with our patients, making them feel special, seeing them smile and hearing them say they love coming to our office. She also likes coming to work with coworkers that feel like family. She spends most of her spare time with her family and friends. Her favorite things to do are going on cruises and just making memories with my family.
Heather has enjoyed dental assisting for over 20 years. She says The best part of my day is working with children. She has two adult children with a new grandson. In her free time she loves spending time with her family, and her favorite thing to do is go to the beach.
Anna has been enjoying pediatric dentistry for years. She loves teaching our patients the importance of dental health through games, jokes, and making the whole experience fun. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, adventuring, and enjoying the company of her friends and family.
Courtney was born and raised here in Virginia, where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson high School and plans to pursue a career in social work to help at-risk youth. She is a dog and cat mom to Luna, Gypsy, and Shadow, and has a two year old godson to keep her on her toes. She loves to relax by watching television or reading a good book. She loves kids and all the joy they bring every day.
At Tidal Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, our team believes in taking a unique approach to your childs care. Some offices prioritize pediatric care in an independent environment, without consulting parents first. We believe that parents play a crucial role in their childs oral health.
Most importantly, our team understands that children imitate the habits of those closest to them. This was our first time getting fillings done for our two young children. Dr Winters and his team did an amazing job! They explained everything they were going to do before hand and then talked through each of the tools they were going to use with each child. Both my kids did an job and had a great experience and were so relaxed because of how friendly and calming the team was during the whole process.

We had an amazing experience with Dr. Winter and Tiera. They put my 4-year old at ease and explained everything they were doing beforehand. They showed him the equipment and what it does and if he wasn't ready to use them, such as the "buzzing toothbrush", they switched directions and let him use his newly selected toothbrush. I sat in the chair and had him lay on my chest facing the ceiling and it was very helpful for him to have me be able to do that. His favorite part was the "ride" of laying back in said chair and even braved riding it by himself after his exam. The office was clean with an open concept in the examination area, the staff were friendly, and they were very accommodating in communication about the appointment beforehand. We are so glad we chose them and are looking forward to the next visit!

We absolutely love Dr Winter and his staff. So wonderful to have a full pediatric dentist locally. They are amazing with kiddos. Both my 7 year old and my 3 year old have 0 fear of going to the dentist, because they make it stress free! Thankful.

Great staff very professional and superfriendly they explained to my children. Very pleasant Dentist visits for my children Dr Winter's took the time and explained everything to us. Both my son's now don't have a fear of the Dentist

Dr. Winters and his team are amazing! My four year old had to have some serious work done on her mouth and each appointment was completed in under an hour. They explained what was happening to her in words she could understand and she allowed them to work. I have four children ages from 1 to 13 and I am so glad I decided to bring my children to this dentist. I highly recommend them.

My 17 month old son went for his 2nd dentist appt, but his 1st at Tidal Smiles, and the staff and Dr. Winter did an amazing job. I will definitely bring him back to see Dr. Winter from now on.

We live in Buxton, NC, and we were referred to Tidal Smiles because none of the offices nearby would see my 4-year-old. The drive to Elizabeth City is over 2.5 hours, but I can safely say it was 100% totally worth it! Dr. Winter and his team were so incredibly kind and accommodating. Jenny truly put my daughter at ease while she was examining her teeth. She even convinced her to let them take x-rays. We found out my daughter needed to have a cavity fixed (our initial reason for taking her) and Dr. Winter said they were booked out about two months. I told him that was right about the time when our second child is due, and so knowing that and how far we drove to get there, he went out of his way to perform the procedure the SAME DAY. We barely had to wait more than 15 extra minutes. Our experience here was second to none. Despite the distance, we'll be taking our kids here from now on just based on the service we received on this visit. My daughter is so excited to go back to the dentist next time. Who knew a filling could be so fun?!

We have four children ranging in age from almost 8 to almost 2. It can sometimes be chaotic to have all examined at one time, but this was not our experience with our exams today. I liked how the office was set up so all my children were able to be next to each other and see what was going on. I feel it made them relaxed and made the experience simple and chaos free. The staff were very professional, kind, and made the experience wonderful for all of our children. Dr. Winter took his time to explain each child's unique needs with me. I left feeling very informed and confident in my children's dental care and the plan for care in the future for each. I would highly recommend Tidal Smiles. It was by far the most pleasant dental experience we have ever had with our children.

Kudos to Dr Winter for doing such a great job with the staff! Absolutely some of the friendliest and kindest people I've had to deal with in medical fields .. having made appointment after appointment for my little one with doctors, dentists and the other fields. Wonderful experience today at Tidal Smiles. The ladies were the most friendly and personable hygienists, they were great with my kids. Dr Winter was kind, informative and professional. The office is clean and comfortable. Definitely the best dentist office experience we've had in the general area. I would highly recommend.

It was my toddlers first appointment and I couldn't be happier with the staff and service. The environment is clean and welcoming. I was very nervous because my one daughter has autism, however the staff was very patient and made her feel comfortable. My other daughter loved the sunglasses they have for the kids to use and the dental dog with his large tooth brush, shecan't wait to go back.
