Dr. Nakano is a board certified oral surgeon in Thousand Oaks, CA. He graduated from the University of California San Diego with a bachelors of science and then received his D.M.D. degree from Boston University in Boston, MA. He then completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Lincoln Hospital-Cornell University. He now has a private practice in Thousand Oaks, California in Ventura County.

As a CA State Licensed Certified Dental Assistant, she can use her experience and abilities working directly with patients to help provide the best care possible. Tyla takes both her responsibilities of keeping patients safe, assisting the doctors chair-side with x-rays, educating patients, and taking oral surgery very seriously. She appreciates that she can work with other highly-trained professionals to provide compassionate and personal experiences for the patient. While she finds her job extremely challenging and rewarding, she loves providing the care she does. When she isnt working, she travels with her husband, trains for marathons, and hangs out with her animals, Gimley & Cooper.
Allison has been working in the dental field with Dr. Nakano for 4 years. She has extensive experience and knowledge of dental insurance. She loves to assist patients with understanding and maximizing their benefits. As the insurance specialist Allison enjoys interacting with our patients while making sure they get the most from their experience. She is the one to call on with any financial and insurance coverage questions that you might have and help you handle all of your insurance claims.
Cathys enthusiasm for oral surgery is evident in the many hats she has worn within Dr. Nakanos office since her arrival here 14 years ago. Always looking to increase her professional knowledge and experience, she has successfully transitioned from her initial role as Patient Coordinator to the clinical side and now to surgical assistant and Implant Coordinator. Cathy being an RDA and OMSA certified, has brought her commitment, compassion, and sense of humorall of which come together to help her patients feel informed and well-cared for throughout their implant experience. Cathy brings this wealth of implant experience to the implant treatment plans for each patient she works with. Cathys educational background in Early Childhood Education is evident in her quiet, patient demeanor and accomplished teaching abilities while thoroughly explaining the implant process and financial information to our patients. Cathy strives for great patient care and makes our patients surgical experience comfortable and pleasant. We are very pleased to have Cathy on our team.
Christy has been one of our clinical staff members for 4 years. Behind her beautiful smile is a woman passionate about getting to know all of our patients and making sure they receive quality service. She is quick to make patients feel at ease by building confidence, trust, and friendship. She is very experienced and knowledgeable in a wide range of oral and maxillofacial surgeries, from wisdom teeth to using state-of-the-art dental and implant techniques. She also encourages students to do the same while teaching at a local charter college. Christy has participated in various continuing educations courses and seminars through Oral-Facial Surgery, including BLS/H.I.P.A.A., OMSA, IV, A.A. Healthcare management, and RDA for the Oral Surgery Practice. She performs expanded functions in I.V. therapy and anesthesia, assisting Dr. Nakano.
She finds this specialty challenging but rewarding and feels fortunate to call this her career. Christy is committed to pursuing lifelong learning and growth in all areas of her life. She frequently researches new processes, protocols, or products for the practice; and participates in regular continuing education. When not at the office, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and weekend getaways.

Being a huge anxious mess for anything medical related, I was so impressed and put to ease with Dr. Nakano and his staff. Having had a traumatic situation with IVs in the last year, I was extra nervous for the IV part of my oral surgery. The nurse who did my IV did such an amazing job, she got me on her first attempt and I didn't feel A THING. I have never been so comfortable with a medical team. Thank you Dr. Nakano and staff for making a normally terrifying experience for me, something so easy. I will always go here for oral surgical needs, and will recommend them to anyone looking for an oral surgeon.

The billing and office staff are the reason we will not return. Beware of double billing by the office. Some dental plans don't cover oral surgery. It is considered medical and they will refer you to your network oral surgeons. However, Dr. Nakano's office bills you upfront for the service (Even if you are in his PPO network) before a procedure will be done, and then bills your insurance company. At that point, they have no incentive to refund your money to you. I'm not sure how many people they tell, "We won't collect any further money from you. We will forgive your debt." After countless hours with my insurance companies, and the run around with Allison, I received what was owed to me according to my EOB. But that was only after notifying her I would file a grievance with my insurance company and post on social media. Suddenly, it was resolved that day. .

Very happy with the extraction. Had it few hour ago. He knew it was gonna be a tough one. He droped gosh darn when it broke at the root but wasnt too worried :)

Dr Nakano and the dental assistants are amazing. Very talented group of medical professionals. I've referred a few people here because of that. The office on the other hand- way too big for their britches. I called to schedule an appt almost three months after a procedure I had to have them tell me I had an outstanding balance because my insurance never processed the claim. (which the office physically mails on paper to the health plan) Claims take about 2-4 weeks to process so I was scratching my head wondering why I wasn't notified. The woman helping me scoffed and said, "Ma'am we did our job. It's up to you to call your insurance and find out what happened. You could have checked to see if I was processed." We did our job-what? How is that even in your arsenal of responses to an issue with a patient? I spent a very long time on hold w my insurance company only to be told I have to contact the office to find out what happened..after a hectic couple hours down the drain trying to figure it out they ended up mailing the claim again. Another example of this office being extremely unreliable is that my boyfriend who I referred has one of the most complicated cases according the the doctor (pretty scary, right?) has been trying to get a call back from that office for almost a month. They initially told him they would call him with an update post assessment, but never did. Over a week ago he called to try get the update and he has been told three times now that he would be contacted that day. He is way too sweet to make a fuss about it, but has been very anxious to hear what they want to do. That's not right! So yes, Dr. Nakano is excellent as well as his dental assistants, but now I am wondering if I've maxed out my coverage in the almost two month window they had to notify me that it was never processed. If you come to this office you will get excellent treatment, but be prepared to be on top of your claims and to deal with unreliable/short staff. If I could do it over, I would look for a good doctor and go somewhere else. It's been a headache to say the least.

Every visit has been a positive overall experience for me, thanks to the kindness and professionalism of the staff and doctor. The facility is very clean and modern, which assures me that they run a good operation. The two implant visits I underwent were surprisingly pain free with no real post surgery issues, thanks to the skills of the team. I would highly recommend this group if you ever need any work done to maintain a great smile and healthy teeth!

Was referred to Dr Nakano and his office by my dentist Dr Justin sycamore. I had a failing bone graft , needed sinus lift, and preparation for 2 implants. The process was timely and very professional. Both administrative and surgical staff were 6 stars. From the 1st to my last appointment was 11 out of 10. I drove 60 miles to Thousand Oaks to get the procedure done. Highly recommend Dr Nakano and his team.

Dr. Nakano and his staff are amazing! From the moment you enter the office, you are greeted by a very friendly receptionist, then escorted by friendly staff to meet with Dr. Nakano. Dr. Nakano is very down to earth, explained everything in detail so I knew what to expect and what my recovery time would be like. I highly recommend Dr.Nakano and I wish he could be a one stop shop for all dental necessities!

I have more dental issues than I'd like to count! Dr. Nakano has done 4 implants for me (and likely will need more over the years). Obviously oral surgery is not my favorite past time, however, the end result of the work he has done has been successful every time. It's very difficult to find a good dentist let alone an oral surgeon! Dr. Nakano is skilled in what he does. As long as I took care of the surgical sites after the implants were placed (pro tip- I did lots of salt water rinses- after every meal and before bed), they healed perfectly with minimal pain. One of the standouts of his office are the surgical assistants- Kristi (hope I spelled that correctly) is so understanding of my anxiety every time and is just kind and does whatever she can to help make everything better (blanket if you're cold before surgery, kind conversations). Sometimes people are looking for good bedside manner, but after many years of excruciating and awful experiences, I could care less about that as long as I have a SKILLED surgeon operating on me! It certainly doesn't hurt to have those wonderful assistants though because I really do struggle with the anxiety of dental work. Thank you Dr. Nakano and nurses/assistants!

I just got my wisdom teeth removed and I truly could not have asked for a better experience. I've been avoiding the surgery for years, and when it finally came time to get them removed, I was so anxious and so scared. The staff made me feel extremely comfortable and the process was a breeze from start to finish. I had minimal pain and barely even swelled! And special shoutout to my nurse Christy - she made the experience so easy and calm for me. I can't thank her enough.

I've been a patient of Dr. Nakano for many years, I've had 5 implants so far and they're all working great. I work in a dental office, and we always refer our patients to Dr. Nakano. Whether it's implants or extractions he and his staff will take care of you.

I had a root canal with another doctor that ended up not being able to be finished because of the condition of my tooth, so I was referred to Dr. Nakano's office and they were able to take me immediately for an extraction. Dr. Nakano and his staff were very professional and friendly. Months later after healing from the extraction, I returned for an implant procedure. The staff and Dr. Nakano explained the procedure and the instructions very thoroughly so that I felt confident about doing it. Post-surgery recovery was very quick and I had no pain or problems. The overall experience was excellent and I highly recommend Dr. Nakano and his staff.
