Dr. Rob Thorup is best described as an entrepreneur who happens to be a practicing Dentist. He is a native of Utah. Born in Salt Lake City, Dr. Rob attended Brigham Young University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1986. While attending BYU he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for Valley Ambulance and was one of the pioneers of the Timpanogos Mountain Rescue Team.
Dr. Rob served an LDS Mission to Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from BYU, he was accepted to the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry where he graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1989.
Shortly after returning home from dental school, Dr. Rob found himself in public service as an EMT-Intermediate for the Alpine-Highland-American Fork Emergency Medical Services while maintaining a successful dental practice.
Dr. Rob has lectured nationally and internationally for various dental companies including Dentrix, D4D, and ADABEI, and has published articles in the field of digital radiography, practice management software, and advanced case presentation with technology. He is co-developer of the products known as Dental Automated Treatment Messaging, My Dental Docs, and My Dental Stats. When he is not practicing dentistry, you can find him 'next door' training other dentists and their teams in the Clinical Business of Dentistry with Advanced Dental Techniques, Materials, and Services for the patients they serve.
Nichelle was born and raised in Orem, Utah with her four brothers. She went to Mountain View High School and loved choir, gymnastics, and dancing. Upon graduating from High School, she went to Snow College for 2 years and fell in love with the small town atmosphere. After Snow she attended UVU where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Dental Hygiene. She met her husband, the love of her life, on a blind date. They have been married since 2011, and love camping, hiking, running, watching movies, Cafe Rio, and drinking Dirty Dr. Peppers.
Kaitlin was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. She attended Idaho State University and Brigham Young University of Idaho. She recently has been accepted into the Utah College of Dental Hygiene program and looks forward to continuing her schooling. She loves spending her time with her husband doing anything outside, including hiking, skiing, and mountain biking as well as traveling. Kaitlin plans on traveling around the world with her husband.
Jenna was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. She grew up in the pool and was on her high school swim team. She attended UVU, where she studied Family Studies. She met her husband in a class her freshman year of college. They stayed in touch while he served a mission in Argentina and they got married in 2014. They enjoy trying new restaurants, date nights with friends, going on motorcycle rides, and working out together. They have been blessed to be able to travel to many places together and hope to be able to continue to do so.
Allison was born in Palm Springs, California, and raised in South Jordan, Utah. She attends Utah Valley University and is studying Forensic Science. She served an 18-month mission for her church on the east coast, around the Greater Philadelphia area. Allison enjoys being outside with her friends, family, and especially her 2 golden retrievers. She loves hiking, backpacking, boating, four-wheeling, and taking road trips.
Sandra grew up in Utah County where she attended Mountainland Applied Technology College and completed the Dental Assisting Program. Later she completed a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management at Utah Valley University. Sandra joined our team in September 2020 and loves to help our patients. She enjoys spending time in nature, traveling, hiking, rock climbing, camping, and planning events. One day she hopes to see the northern lights, ride a train and visit Europe.
Tracy was born and raised in Olympia Washington. She completed her Associate Degree at Glendale Community College in Glendale, California, and has been in the medical and dental field off and on ever since. She found her way to Utah when she was hired by ProvoCraft in South Jordan as a Channel Marketing and Social Media Manager. Tracy has been working at Thorup Dental since October 2017. She also works part-time for a dental consulting/software company. As our patients have come to know, Tracy is a fighter and advocate for our patients when it comes to battling insurance companies on their behalf.

This is by far the best dentist I have ever been too! The staff is amazing and Rob is so kind to every single one of his patients and does great work! Would definitely recommend if your trying to find somewhere to get dental work done!

Kaitlin is hands down the best dental hygienist out there! She is super cute, personable and makes my teeth feel like they just went to the spa. Rob is also one of the best dentist in Utah! Rob is all about quality work and that's what's important to me when it comes to my teeth and smile. Highly recommend!

I've been going to Dr. Thorup for nearly 20 years and he and his staff have always given me excellent, long-lasting treatments and a supportive, welcoming atmosphere. They are all very knowledgeable and willing to share tips and tricks for improving/maintaining your oral hygiene. I now live in a different state and they are super accommodating when it comes to scheduling appointments. If you live in or near SLC, or like me just pass through once in awhile, and are in need of a dentist, Dr. Thorup and Co. are a definite go to.

I have went to Dr Thorup for 10+ years. He is the greatest dentist and his staff is exceptional. He has helped with basic and major services with incredible & trustworthy results. I have always been able to get in quickly and with minimal wait. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr Rob has been my families dentist for 10+ years, love him and his whole staff. He goes out of his way to accommodate our large family and we have had some complicated dental needs, which he and his team made simple and painless.

I haven't always been a fan of going to the dentist. To be quite honest, it used to give me lots of anxiety. For the last 10 years or so I've been going to Thorup Dental and my feelings about those visits have changed for the better. I can honestly say that I have loved my experience at Thorup Dental and genuinely look forward to my appointments. The three things that I value most about this team are their personality, focus on education, and the technology they use. Beyond simply making sure my teeth are healthy and clean, the hygienists make the environment fun and welcoming. They do a great job answering my questions to ensure that I am leaving with knowledge that will keep my teeth healthy for years to come. Additionally, I appreciate that this office invests resources in the most current and advanced technology. Through the use of some of these advanced tools I'm able to see my own teeth through their eyes. Frankly, it's pretty rad! If you are new to the area or are simply looking for a new dental care provider I would highly encourage you to check out this office. Dr. Rob and his team are phenomenal! I was scheduled for a root canal, but was in such excruciating pain. I could not function. Dr. Rob called someone in, and took care of me immediately. They were so kind and efficient. I am so grateful for them, and each time they have saved me.

Dr Rob Thorup was my dentist ever since I can remember. He has always treated me with kindness and respect. I moved out of state and was unable to go to him for many years and when I returned I was unable to go back to him due to location. I unfortunately had to go to a dentist near my home that took my insurance at the time. This new dentist had to complete a crown on my front tooth, which to make a very long story short, ended up in a disaster. I called Dr. Rob office and they were very kind from the start and listened to my entire story. Dr. Rob is not in my network but I trusted him so much that I paid out of pocket to go get my crown redone by him. At this time, I had to get now two crowns (my front teeth) as the previous dentist also messed up the real tooth on the other side. He also gave me 3 different options I could choose with different outcomes. He talked me through the entire process and made sure I was comfortable the entire 4 hour visit. He did a fabulous job and his staff is simply wonderful. The crown was beautiful and I cried I was so happy with the results. They made sure I liked my crown prior to leaving the office, followed up with texts the next day to ensure I was feeling okay. I did have some questions about my gums healing, which they brought me in to address immediately right before Chrsitmas Eve and continued to provide excellent care. Throughout this experience, they have been available whenever I needed them and in such a timely manner. I have been able to express my questions and concerns openly. I am now in the process of changing my insurance with my company to make sure I can go to Dr. Rob going forth. My husband now goes to Dr. Rob and my family still continues to go to him. He is a great guy, truthful and an incredibly talented dentist. I would recommend him to anyone I know.

We just changed dentists and I must say this has been a wonderful experience. Dr. Thorup and staff are fabulous. They truly care about you and your oral health. He installed a bridge which included a tooth extraction, bone implant and suture. I don't know how he does it, but I had zero pain after the procedure and needed no pain killers! To top that off, he made the bridge right in his office with his state-of-art technology, so I didn't have to wait two weeks for the outside lab to create it. Simply amazing! If you need a fabulous dentist that really knows his stuff, it's "Dr Rob." I might add that his assistants are also the very best. The entire experience of his office has is exceptional.

First time I met Dr. Throup he looked like he was 16. I let him know that he was gonna have to earn my business ..That was over 30 yrs ago. He's a perfectionist, sometimes funny, a little arrogant, haha. However he does exceptional work and there is nothing wrong with confidence. He's taking care of my aging teeth now and I am in good hands. He doesn't look like . Doggie Housier anymore, but always does impressive work. And I don't impress easily.
