It's all about the patient. This is Dr. Jeffrey Penfil's practice philosophy. After graduating near the top of his class from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1987, Dr. Penfil and his family eventually settled in West Chester, PA, where he owned and practiced at Preventive Dentistry & Laser Center for twenty years.
All about the patient means that Dr. Penfil loves high fear patients, his unofficial specialty. It also means patient comfort at all times, both physically and mentally. And it means minimally invasive dentistry, including sleep apnea therapy without machines, early cancer detection and all phases of restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Penfil has treated over one hundred sleep apnea patients successfully, including himself, and it is one of the rare things dentistry has to offer that directly saves lives. Dr. Penfil is excited to bring his skills and talents to Thornydale Dental, where that same philosophy is evident all day, every day.
Dr. Penfil has been happily married to his wife, Sue, since 1989, and his family is his joy. Their older daughter, Rachael, is pursuing her Ph.D in Peruvian Archaeology and their younger daughter, Alli, is in D.C., pursuing a career in international diplomacy. He and Sue also have two four-legged children, Zoey and Eli. Dr. Penfil's hobbies include travel, SCUBA, home beer and winemaking, sports (both spectator and participant, especially the Philadelphia Eagles) and reading. But his true outside passion is volunteerism. He has been actively involved in his synagogue as a committee chair and as a director. Dr. Penfil has also been a Rotarian for 20 years, and is a past president and current chair for the Peacebuilding Committee of the Dove Mountain Rotary Club. He has been involved in projects such as building play/learning areas at a Domestic Violence Center, raising funds for a playground in Guyana, fighting polio through El Tour de Tucson, and assisting a camp for HIV+ children.
As an Army Veteran, Crystal loves providing quality dental care to her patients. She fell in love with the dental field while serving our country in 2007. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her fur babies. Crystal is also a member of Casas Creative Tech Team at her church and is currently attending GCU obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Christian Studies.
Luis has experience in both Private Practice and Corporate Dentistry. He enjoys volunteering with the Give Kids a Smile Organization and plans on continuing his education with his ultimate goal in becoming a dentist. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and spending time with friends and family.
Phuong moved to Tucson a year ago with my husband. Prior to moving to Tucson, she lived in Pennsylvania where she graduated from Dental Hygiene school. She is gentle and friendly and always has patients best interests in mind. She loves to watch movies and travel. Her favorite places to travel have been Cambodia, Vietnam and Washington DC. She loves to cook and make delicious food. She is bilingual in English and Vietnamese.
Paige visited the dentist regularly as a child and always appreciated when she had a good experience. She wanted to become a Dental Hygienist to provide others the same positive experience in the dental chair. Paige's friendly personality will make you feel at ease. She takes the time to educate her patients to help them achieve their best oral health.
Carrie entered the dental field over 16 years ago as a dental assistant and has enjoyed her journey learning many aspects of dentistry. She brings her expertise and knowledge to the front office and is happy to help with insurance or treatment questions. Her favorite part of her job is the interaction with patients. She is a mother of 3 boys and enjoys DIY projects, camping, hiking, cycling and any other outdoor activity.
Ana started working at Thornydale Dental in 2019. Previously, Ana worked for 6 years in a fast-paced dental office in Sierra Vista; she enjoys being in a smaller office where she can get to know each patient personally.
Ana enjoys spending time with her family; her husband and 3 children. They enjoy cheering on their favorite teams together - The Diamondbacks, the Baltimore Ravens and the UofA Basketball and Football teams. You can also find her at Mountain View High School cheering on her son as he plays football and baseball.
Dr. Jeffrey Penfil enjoys caring for families and has a particular calling to help patients with dental anxiety feel safe and comfortable during treatment. His philosophy is, 'it 's all about the patient,' and he fully supports his patients ' physical and emotional well-being.
