Dr Unruh grew up in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School in 1984. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Dangberg, in 1986. He attended the University of Nevada Reno with a major in Pre-Medicine in 1990. From 1991 to 1995, he attended the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. He graduated with many awards and was elected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society, which is reserved for, roughly, the top ten percent of each graduating class. Tom, Kathy, and their children returned home to the Carson Valley the summer of 1995. After associating with his childhood dentist Dr. Walt Niemeyer, Dr Unruh opened his present office in 1999. He has been practicing there for over 20 years now.
Kathy Unruh is our office manager. She was raised in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School. She is a 4th generation from the valley and her family, the Dangberg's help settle this area in the 1800s.
She married Dr Unruh in 1986. She graduated from University of Nevada Reno with a bachelor degree in Speech Pathology. She has been working with Dr Unruh since 1998. Kathy enjoys camping, hiking and boating with her family.
Kristy Dangberg is Dr Unruhs assistant. She was born and raised in the Carson Valley. She started her dental career in 2013 and has worked with Dr Unruh since that time. Prior to dental assisting, she was a successful nail technician.
Alyssa Unruh works at the front desk and as a dental assistant when needed. She grew up in the Carson Valley and is Dr Unruhs daughter. Alyssa has worked at the office for 5 years. She is going to school and would like to do something in the medical field. Her hobbies include hiking, running, camping, and being outdoors. She is also the proud owner of our therapy dog, Titan.
Karen Wilcks works part-time in the front office. She was Dr Unruhs office manager for 14 years before retiring. She was raised in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School. She enjoys camping and spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
Titan is our Therapy Dog. He is a black lab and is registered with Inter-Mountain Therapy Animals. He has worked with the reading program at the local library and assists and greets patients as they arrive.

I feel relaxed and in very good hands with Dr Unruh and his staff. He is patient and gentle and does not recommend treatment that is not needed, although keeps an eye on any problem areas that could arise and shares information freely. The office staff and my dental hygienist are the best also. I am more very happy with Dr Unruh and his staff.

Dentist seemed offish my first visit with him. But nice man. His staff is something else. I told the dental assistant my issues going on and please to be gentle. She belittled me. Made me feel horrible. So I programmed to see another dentist. And that same day the lady who was rude working there as a dental assistant and is at the front desk as well. Called me and cancelled all my appointments leaving a voicemail and letting me know she had sent my x-rays to my new dentist. My new dentist never received them. This office's staff is not the friendliest. She blocked my number and never sent my x-rays to the dentist who was trying to help me. Also charged me 20$ for toothpaste? She just gave to me for free. Said no charge. Luckily still have the bills, voicemails. How disappointing . Thank you ladies for wasting my time as well. Making me feel uncomfortable and being judgemental.

Hands down the best dentist that my family has ever had. He is so kind and humble. He takes his time and is very gentle, always making sure not to hurt you and that you are comfortable. Dr. Unruh makes sure is clean and thorough! Love all the office staff! They are so kind and helpful!

The best dentist I have ever had and I've said that about previous providers but now I know what The Best truly is. This is a family based office with a couple of hygentists that are not. But everyone in that practice treats you like family. When in transition to Medicare the first insurers offered did not list their practice so I bought an extra policy just to be able to continue my around 15 years of being treated there. I have since changed insurance and am covered by just the one again. I would not leave this practice for any other, ever.

Thomas Unruh and staff are competent, friendly, accept our insurance and the office is quite nice. Especially the views of the Eastern side of the Sierra. What more can I ask for? Nothing at all.

Once again, my visit was great! I have my teeth cleaned every 3 months with Robyn. She's the best! I travel round trip over 200 miles to see Robyn and Dr. Unruh. I can't offer a better compliment than that! I highly recommend Dr. Unruh and his staff for a friendly, accommodating and professional experience.
