Would not recommend this surgeon, many more qualified surgeons out there. Read story if you want! Explanation . 2 Implants he placed at #4&5 teeth were infected/defective, causing Severe pain. At a visit ( Feb 2019)to diagnose problem of severe pain at implant location. My upper lip was swollen up and he tapped on it with his instrument and said "I am not responsible for that"!, in fact my lip was swollen up from the infection he gave me. (I trusted him to do no harm.) Dougherty pointed out a white spot in the x-ray. I pressed him for an explanation,he gave none.( Keep this in mind) He recommended surgery. He tried to correct the pain with a sinus bone graph which required surgery in my mouth. During the procedure he told me he "scraped the infection away from my implants"( I was told by two other oral surgeons that once infection was identified implants should have been removed .)I later found out I did not need the bone graft nor the surgery. Blaimed the infection In my mouth on "rare"sinuses Infection., In fact the implants were infected. Six weeks later, Still in severe pain, I underwent an additional surgical procedure supposedly to fix the problem. I told him at that point to remove the implants if they were infected. they were in fact infected and defective and he did not remove them!,, Was in extreme pain after this second unnecessary surgery in my mouth. Many phone calls over the next week produced nothing but him asking me if I was taking Claritin and Flonase for my infected sinus, I did have an infection in my sinuses but it was from the defective implant he put in my mouth. Getting no relief from Doherty. I Went to another oral surgeon to to have extreme pain in my mouth diagnosed. This surgeon saw the same white spot Dougherty saw and immediately gave me a Cone Beam CAT scan. This clearly showed a defective implant. Dougherty does not have a CONE BEAM CAT scan. The second surgeon removed the defective infected implants immediately.( 3rd oral surgery in 3 months ) Second Surgan also said I had lost 50% of bone mass in my upper mouth because of infection. Also had to have a root canal on the adjacent tooth of implant because during the Initial implant procedure Dougherty hit that tooth's root.Found out later Doughty knew the I'm plant was defective when he sent me a bill for $2700 for a "bone graft in defective implant".( A problem he created) A Competent surgeon who identifies a defective implant should have removed it, I had to go to another surgeon who diagnosed the defective implant and had two of them removed. The three surgeries in an infected mouth over the course of 2 1/2 months has caused permanent nerve damage to my trigeminal nerve. This is extremely painful on a scale of 8 out of 10 24/7 . I recommend no one go to this surgeon since he had numerous opportunities to diagnose my case but would not acknowledge he made a mistake. Is also not up-to-date on all the diagnostic equipment available

Doughty missed diagnosed a defective implant that he put in my mouth. I was having terrible pain at the implant location and he said it's a very rare sinus infection. He said according to the x-ray they are adhering perfectly to the bone in my mouth. And should not be a concern. Went back to him a month later complaining about severe pain at implant level whereas he operated and put a bone graph in a defective implant according to his $2700 bill. I continue to complain about severe pain only to be told that the surgery he performed what is necessary. And I should get my sinuses checked. I had to go to a second surgeon who had a CBCT scanner which identified a defective implant as being an issue. Their recommendation was to have both implants removed since both implants that Dority put in my mouth were infected. I would not rely on Doherty's experience since he does not have up-to-date equipment Nely a cone beam CT scanner.

I had 3 wisdom teeth extracted with Dr. Dougherty. Two of them were impacted and one was infected, but the procedure was so fast and painless thanks to Dr. Dougherty and his staff. They worked to fit me in around my work schedule after thanksgiving day. I want to give a huge Thank you! To the dental technician Melissa who took care of me and took the time to walk me out after my procedure, thank you for explaining the after care for me to my family.

Left a message. Got called back and basically rejected. I have NJ insurance through my parents work and she refused to check if they took it herself and assumed I was on Medicaid. If you're young and/or want to be treated with respect on the phone, don't even bother calling here.

5 stars across the board for this office! Tom is an exceptional DMD with the staff to match! Dr. Dougherty removed one of my third molars back in February. This extraction was no easy task given the position of my wisdom tooth, and the fact it was abscessed. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and comforting from start to finish. I'll definitely be returning Should the need arise.

Not being from the Delaware area, finding a good dentist had been exhausting. I happened to come across someone who recommended him after I had a terrible experience elsewhere. Dr. Dougherty's office is, by far, the best dental treatment I have ever received. The staff was pleasant and Dr. Dougherty was professional, operated quickly and efficiently and, most importantly, it was as painless as possible.

Dr. Doughtery and the ENTIRE office staff are amazing! I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I was completely nervous about the entire process and the idea of being "put to sleep" to have teeth removed. The front office staff assured me I was in good hands, and they were absolutely correct! Dr. Dougherty was very gentle. I awoke wondering when he was going to get started :-). Because the doctor did such an amazing job, my recovery was painless. I barely needed anything stronger than 200mg Advil for the first 2 days. I feel amazing and my gums have healed perfectly, and there is no sign of surgery. Hands down the best dental surgeon; and the front office staff, they treat you like family. If you are looking for good care and a kind, friendly environment, give Dr. Doughtery a call NOW. (*_*)

I had to get 4 wisdom teeth removed; Dr. Dougherty and his lovely, supportive staff were there for me every step along the way. In addition, he made himself available before, during, and after the procedure, even when he had a jam-packed schedule. Did I mention that this was happening during the COVID-19 Pandemic? This office is amazing. Coming from someone who is scared of surgeries/complications and anything dental-related, Dr. Dougherty is simply the best. You can trust him to do a great job, and you can trust his staff to be very accommodating and available in case you have pre or post-op questions.

Before going to Dr. Dougherty, I visited my new dentist. This was my first time going to the dentist in almost 10 years. Therefore, my visit to Dr. Dougherty's office was the second in 10 years, and I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed! My nerves were over-the-top for obvious reasons, but Dr. Dougherty and his lovely, supportive staff were there for me every step along the way.
