Dr Tom Hedstrom fixed all the damage my old dentist had done to my mouth. My old dentist had never kept up with new techniques and he probably should have retired 10 years before I finally found Dr. Tom. Sadly, he has retired but his nephew Dr Brien Hedstrom has taken over the practice and he is as good as his Uncle. He saw me on an emergency basis the first time I saw him. He got me temporarily fixed up until he could get a crown put on. When I saw him he was very careful and considerate about saving the tooth because he wasn't sure that it could be. His expert (and painless) work saved the tooth! The dental hygienists and dental assistants are all excellent and his staff is so warm and inviting. This office is a perfect balance of professionalism and making you feel that you are in a safe caring environment where your best interests come first. I won't go anywhere else even though it's a 45 minute drive for me.

I was looking up Dr. Hedstrom's phone number with Google and noticed that the Google review average was less than 5 stars, so I read the reviews. After reading the review by the WPI student, I felt compelled to share my experience(s). I have been seeing Dr. Hedstrom and his staff for 15 years. He has done many crowns and I am very particular. I also have my teeth cleaned regularly, He and his staff are 'quietly competent' which is a big complement. I am not able to say that very often nowadays. My insurance has changed many times over the years and the office has always checked for coverage, communicated what was covered, and submitted for reimbursement. Not that it is relevant, but I graduated from WPI.

I loved the work and the cleanings they gave, but I specifically called and asked them which insurance to get for a cleaning during an insurance switch over; and they told me what to get. I got that insurance, showed up for my routine cleaning and then at the end of the appointment they told me I owed 300 dollars. >> I was willing to pay a portion of that but what they offered me weeks later in a bill wasn't good enough and I thought way too high - for a mistake made on their part.(I'm a WPI biochemistry student so for me a 300 dental bill for something that is suppose to cost me 0.00 was a lot). They refused to see their fault in this situation - since they told me the wrong information, and they should be checking my insurance BEFORE the appointment. There was no resolving anything with them-. So I was forced to contact Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey over the matter. They lied and said I had verbally agreed to a certain amount (which is not true, I had said I was willing to pay a portion of it cause I did want to stay a pt, but what they offered me weeks later in a bill wasn't fair in my opinion. So I declined and wanted them to own up for THEIR mistake; considering I should have had 100% covered by the routine dental procedure using the insurance they! told me to sign up for (which I was also now paying for no reason), I considered this a complete rude and weird way to go about performing business and left a really bad impression. They then sent ME a note telling me I was no longer allowed to be their patient... I laughed when i got that, cause like yah duh, I WONT be returning dont worry about that. The receptionist Colleen lied to the Attorney General regarding the facts on the matter. Honestly the fact that they goofed up and then lied to a state official and tried to make me pay even ANYthing is ridiculous. They need to check who they have speaking and representing them on the front. 0 stars would NOT recommend.
