Dr. Farrugia is WNY born and raised. He is a graduate of Canisius College. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at West Virginia School of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Farrugia has extensive experience with treating Oral Maxillofacial pain. Dr Farrugia and his wife Jamie have three daughters Leah, Emma, and Nora. We enjoy camping and being on the water.

Don't fall for this Google search saying they except Medicaid cuz THEY DONT!! So sick of being discriminated against for my insurance 1 of 28 calls to dentist today alone.

( My sons experience) UNFORTUNATELY the only place in the area that would take insurance. He was not communicative whatsoever. Walked out of the room immediately after he was done. Gave so much novocaine it took 6 hours to wear off . Tooth hurt more after . Called and they said to come in for an adjustment - did ...and the pain remained & has been for weeks . WILL NOT GO BACK Has to pay out of pocket for another dentist. (Grandsons experience) Had to go because he again was the only dentist to take insurance.... Has a few fillings Last one in lower jaw got so infected after filling he had to go to another dentist have it drained . He was in terrible pain .

I would give 0 stars if allowed. This is a horrible Dentist Office all together. Called to scheduled a teeth cleaning and they had no open appointments for 6 months. 5 months later I got an abcessed tooth, called to make an appointment they couldn't get me in for a week and a half. I went in to have the now 2 infected teeth pulled. Next day, I started having a severe allergic reaction tried calling office over ten times in the morning right after they opened for the day and multiple times throughout the day and no one answered the phone even though they were open. Left messages stating I'm having an allergic reaction and no one called back until right before they closed for the day. Was told by person returning my call that she was busy and couldn't answer the phone or return any calls. Two days later I was called to have my teeth cleaning appointment I've had scheduled for 6 months cancelled and told they couldn't reschedule but could put me on their cancellation list.

My husband recommend Dr. Farrugia to me, as he saw him for years and never had a problem. I went to Dr. Farrugia for x-rays and a routine cleaning in May of 2021, they told me I had 5 cavities that needed to be filled, did the cleaning and I went on my way. No problems there. Ended up not being able to get another appointment until March of 2022 to get my fillings. When I got my fillings, Dr. Farrugia numbed me and then did two fillings and I was told that I was done. When I asked about the other 3 they said that I only had two, which was confusing. I ended up being numb on the left side of my face(my jaw, my mouth, even near my eye) for almost 72 hours, which was concerning. I called them and never heard back. I also ended having tenderness when eating for the next two months, called them and never heard back about that either. Im also supposed to get a deep cleaning every six months due to having periodontitis and when I tried to schedule that, they said they could not get me in until September at the earliest. They are the only dentist in town that takes my insurance and I dont currently have a way to drive to a different dentist out of town. If you can, go see someone else, this dentist is not worth the hassle and added pain.

He WAS a great dentist. I really liked him. I gave him a ton of work and several new clients. I missed 6 total appointments over the course of a year due to documented illness after MANY good appointments had been kept. I had 2 COVID exposures, Influenza, Mononucleosis, and 2 sinus infections. During two of the visits I had scheduled, I was in the ER having an asthma attack. If I had known that he would have cancelled me as a patient because of my protecting him and his staff and clients, I would have just come in and exposed everyone. I asked his staff if I could make up for the missed appointments by paying them for their time and they said no. DO NOT MISS AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU ARE SICK. GO IN SICK OR HE WILL CANCEL YOU. I am just in tears. He is the ONLY place that can take my insurance in town and I cannot drive due to immune damage to my inner ear from all my illness. I have Meniere's disease. I will no longer be able to get my teeth fixed because he is absolutely unwilling to work with me. I even had sent him a letter before my dismissal explaining my continued illness and that I didn't take the missed appointments for granted. I am a pretty easy going person, I didn't even complain when the two temps his staff put on fell off. Stuff happens. My fiance died last year, you can't really phase me.... But maybe this is how I got sick in the first place, he doesn't care about keeping the environment safe, obviously. Be careful.

If there was an option to to choose 0 stars that's what I would rareness this place. Absolutely poor customer service at the front desk. I made an appointment for noon to see doctor (New Patient) And I just showed up with my ID, because well I just lost my stinking wallet with all my other cards. The lady gave me a hard time about the number. Which it is very easy to find. The lady next to her said what insurance companies I had and could tell it wasn't no big deal. But the front desk began to tell me I need the card itself. I really can't believe it. Indone with Thisbe I've said enough, I'll go to the big time places were they will actually help me out.

I had to leave a second review, even though I already left a 5 star review a couple years ago. Saved me again, had a tooth under a bridge acting up and was leaving for Florida in 2 days. Took me right in on a Monday morning, cut the bad part of bridge off and pulled the offending tooth, saved the good tooth at the other end of bridge. First class, modern operation.

If you're looking for a dentist, stay away from this guy. I went to him because he was the only one in the area that would take Medicaid funded insurance (Fidelis). I need a new crown-bridge but Fidelis wouldn't pay for it, of course. At the same time Obamacare will only allow me to go to a Fidelis provider, even if I'm paying for all the work done. I tried over 20 dentists in the area and either they didn't take Fidelis insurance because they are so terrible, or they were not allowed to take me because of some part of the Obamacare law. Farrugia knows this, so he gave me an outrageous estimate for the dental work thinking I had no choice but to go to him. I finally found a great dentist in Houghton and they requested my dental X-rays from Farrugia. However, Farrugia refused to email the high quality digital X-rays. Instead, he sent by snail-mail worthless computer printouts that my new dentist couldn't read because they were so fuzzy. A request to Fidelis to get new X-rays taken was denied, and again I could not pay for the new X-rays myself because of the way the Obamacare law is written. Farrugia thought he had me over a barrel trying to force me to go back to him, but I just waited the assh@#* out. I've been going around with two front teeth missing for over two months, but with the new year now here, I'm able to get a new insurance provider and start all over again. In the end, because I'm a poor retired school teacher, I learned through the Houghton dentist that I qualify for subsidized dental work (40% off!), and the Houghton practice offers low cost financing too. I can get a whole new full bridge (not just a cap that Farrugia was going to do) for far less than what Farrugia was going to charge me. Anyway, stay as far away as you can from that scamming guy or risk paying through the nose.

I can't thank Dr. Farrugia and his team enough for a wonderful dentist visit. I went in for a cleaning, but also was having some tenderness in a tooth. He was able to locate the problem and fix it. I've been able to eat without any tenderness for weeks now! Thank you again for your professionalism and kindness!

Excellent experience. I have a fear of dentist like a lot of people but Thomas and his staff made me feel very comfortable. Very clean office as well.. Highly recommend.
