Dr. Ted Tanabe has practiced oral surgery in Whittier, California since 1998. He is married and has two wonderful sons. He enjoys a variety of hobbies, including golf, aikido, and tennis, but prefers spending time with his family both at home and on adventures.

Dr. Tanabe became board-certified soon after graduation, and he is proud to have passed his re-certification examination for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) in October, 2010. Achieving diplomate status in ABOMS is one of the top accomplishments in the profession.

Dr. Tanabe is a native Californian. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley (Cal) in 1988 with a BA in chemistry. He then attended the University of the Pacific (UOP) and received his DDS in 1991. He completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 1992 and then an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in 1993. Dr. Tanabe returned to California to complete a graduate residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Medical Center (USC) in 1997.

Dr. Tanabe joined the teaching staff at USC upon graduation and taught post-graduate residents for over 20 years. As a clinical instructor, Dr. Tanabe worked with the future oral surgeons to hone their skills in surgical procedures such as removal of wisdom teeth in conjunction with safe and effective administration of anesthesia.

Cathy is our Office Manager. She is precise and organized, perfectly suited for her job. Cathy is skilled and experienced at handling your financial arrangements, including insurance billing and payment options. She also works very hard to make sure all aspects of the practice are efficient. Cathy is an original member of Dr. Tanabe's team and knows many of the referring doctors and their staff personally.

Lannette is dual-trained as our new Patient Relations Coordinator and a certified Surgery Assistant. She completed her training right here in Whittier at the Tri-Cities ROP and has proven to be very skilled in all aspects of patient care. Lannette is very warm and caring and brings a special level of care for all of our patients and referrals.

Jamie is our Marketing Relations Coordinator. She takes pride in arranging events for the office and has many wonderful ideas for how to keep in contact with the referring doctors and their staff. Jamie is also trained as a Surgery Assistant and joins the team in that capacity when needed.

Jeanette is a wonderful Surgery Assistant who takes pride in connecting with our patients. She completed her training locally at Cerritos College and her outgoing and sweet personality has a way of calming and reassuring the most anxious of patients. Jeanette is also honing her language skills and aspires to be a proficient translator.

Andrea is another skillful Surgery Assistant who trained at Cerritos College. She spent time with our office as an intern and immediately connected with our staff. She is bright, personable, and well-versed in the intricacies of our oral and maxillofacial surgery office.

Nikki is a very helpful Surgery Assistant who joined our team in 2018. She has extensive experience in oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, and orthodontics. Nikki is friendly, takes excellent care of our patients, and has been a wonderful addition to our oral surgery team.
