Dr. Wilhelm earned his dental degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery (now known as the University of Maryland School of Dentistry) in Baltimore. He joined his fathers practice in 1989 and purchased it eight years later.
Dr. Wilhelm is a third-generation dentist who has a strong foundation in dental traditions and tried-and-true techniques. He is particularly adept at combining his knowledge of dentistrys past with the latest advances in the field. By utilizing state-of-the-art dental technology, he is able to give his patients truly beautiful smiles that last a lifetime.
Dr. Wilhelm is a lifelong resident of La Plata, and when he is not treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Ginger, and their adult children. He looks forward to meeting new patients in person and providing them with top-notch dental care.

Ginger joined our office in 2002 and attended Central Connecticut State University. She worked as a dental assistant for many years before transitioning to the position of office manager. She is the first and last person you will see during your visit and coordinates treatments to ensure that everything runs smoothly for our team and patients. She loves getting to know our patients and finds it very rewarding to provide dental care in a friendly, safe and intimate environment.
A graduate of the Marquette University School of Dentistrys dental hygiene program, Marie also minored in sociology with a focus on gerontology. She became a part of our team in August 2004. With over 17 years of experience and building relationships with patients at our office, 35 years in dental hygiene and 40-plus years in dentistry, she brings a unique understanding of a patients needs, limitations and concerns to help guide them to the best possible treatment outcomes.
Alyssa completed the dental assisting program at College of Southern Maryland and is now working toward her dental hygiene degree. She has been at our office since August 2020. She loves the atmosphere at The Wilhelm Dental Group and the patience and kindness of the team and patients. She also likes the way that everyone on our team works together to provide each patient with the best care possible. She assists our dentist in long, complex treatments and contributes team synergy to help our office be more efficient.
Alyssa loves her family, who has never doubted her and has always pushed her to become the best version of herself. Her biggest inspiration is her sister, Alexis. After years of hard work, Alexis earned her degree in exercise science and soon after decided to pursue a career in nursing. Alyssa admires Alexiss enthusiasm to follow her dreams and aspires to be just like her.
For her entire life, Alyssa has been involved in sports. Athletics has taught her many things such as leadership, accountability, respect and patience. She knows that these qualities will help her be successful throughout her life.
Emily has been with us since June 2020. She graduated from La Plata High School and earned her dental assistant and X-ray certifications at the Maryland Dental Assistant School in Accokeek. She is currently attending the College of Southern Maryland, where she is studying dental hygiene.
Emily is always available to help Dr. Eric with treatments and is instrumental in ensuring that the office runs smoothly. She loves the kind patients at our office. She also appreciates how Dr. Eric is very patient, and the way he takes the time to thoroughly explain treatment plans and what a future hygienist needs to know.
