Providing world-class dentistry and improving my patients dental function, overall health, and aesthetics is extremely fulfilling, both on a personal and a professional level. Even after practicing dentistry for 33 years, each day continues to be unique because each case and every patient is unique. Practicing in the heart of the melting pot of the world, Ive met and have come to know many people from all corners of the globe and have had cultural exchanges from a unique cross section of New Yorkers, all of whom enrich me personally.
I completed my undergraduate education at Brandeis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1978. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1981 from New York University College of Dentistry. While my formal education is complete, my thirst for knowledge is never ending. I attend numerous forms of continuing education every year and I am always incorporating new and improved advanced dental equipment, materials and techniques to improve patient care and satisfaction.
I work in association with Donated Dental Services, a program for disadvantaged people with dental needs that have neither the financial resources nor public assistance for their dental care. The smiles and grateful responses I receive from these patients are the warmest and most sincere of all, sometimes even accompanied by tears of joy upon completion of their care. These add to some of my fondest memories from my years of practice.
While I may be passionate about my Green Bay Packers and, over the past 33 years of establishing Herald Square Dental & The Denture Center as one of New York Citys premier dental offices, my practice is of great importance to me however, the reality is that I am most passionate about my family. Both my wife, Joan and myself come from very close families and we are the proud parents of three grown young men, James, Joshua, and Lucas, and our wonderful dog, Riggs. Although little league baseball, recreation league basketball, Jazz band, and forensics has faded into spirited debates about politics and our beloved NY Mets, it is always with love, warmth, and passion. My hobbies of hiking and traveling would be empty if I were not sharing those with the one I am most passionate about, my wife Joanie!

Are you afraid of going to dentists and dental offices for dental procedures like me? Don't be! No way, Jose! Don't hesitate to go to this office, everyone is very nice and pleasant! The hygienist, Leena, is exceptional! Her hand work is so soft I barely felt any discomfort, it was like my teeth and gums were on a spa day. Dr Kwok was also very nice and very calming, she explained everything in detail. Very exceptional professionalism from everyone I met, highly recommended!

Very satisfied with the overall experience. The booking experience was fairly easy, the front desk staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. Both providers whom I saw, Lina (hygienist) and Dr. Kwalk (dentist), were very attentive to detail and professional. Would highly recommend.

far too many dentist leave this place and fail to follow up with their patients, now my FOURTH dentist just left [Varghese]. trying to make an appointment for a cleaning [and fixing a possible filling break in a front tooth but the receptionist didn't want to hear that] and it was a MONTH LATER! YOU ALL ARE OPEN UNTIL 7 SOME DAYS! WHATS WITH THAT? even the time you gave me is a squeeze. check this out.... just got off the phone with the midtown branch and I got an appointment for Friday at 5! they were able to look my info up right away and were concerned about my front tooth [no pain, just a jagged edge which alerted me to the possible problem].

I visited the "Smilist" Office in Sunnyside after experiencing a problem with an old dental appliance. I was treated promptly and given excellent advise regarding treatment options. I would not hesitate to recommend their services.

I had the worst experience at this clinic. I did teeth fillings here by a young dentist. She was super unprofessional and unskilled. I suffered for more than 4 months since the fillings was not done properly. At the end, I had to go to another clinic. And even after few months, I received a bill of $120 to pay out of my pocket despite having good insurance coverage. Clinic staff never told me about the additional cost which I might need to pay. I think, work in this clinic is done by very unskilled and unprofessional technologists and dentists. Front desk staff are not professional as well !

We all know going to the dentist the entire nervous family wake up. But I must say that it was truly amazing I received the golden buzzer cleaning today. Do not get treatment from Dr. Lincy Varghese. She doesn't know what to do and I don't think she knows how to do root canal or nerve treatment at all. For your teeth choose another doctor and don't waste your time
