Providing world-class dentistry and improving my patients dental function, overall health, and aesthetics is extremely fulfilling, both on a personal and a professional level. Even after practicing dentistry for 33 years, each day continues to be unique because each case and every patient is unique. Practicing in the heart of the melting pot of the world, Ive met and have come to know many people from all corners of the globe and have had cultural exchanges from a unique cross section of New Yorkers, all of whom enrich me personally.
I completed my undergraduate education at Brandeis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1978. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1981 from New York University College of Dentistry. While my formal education is complete, my thirst for knowledge is never ending. I attend numerous forms of continuing education every year and I am always incorporating new and improved advanced dental equipment, materials and techniques to improve patient care and satisfaction.
I work in association with Donated Dental Services, a program for disadvantaged people with dental needs that have neither the financial resources nor public assistance for their dental care. The smiles and grateful responses I receive from these patients are the warmest and most sincere of all, sometimes even accompanied by tears of joy upon completion of their care. These add to some of my fondest memories from my years of practice.
While I may be passionate about my Green Bay Packers and, over the past 33 years of establishing Herald Square Dental & The Denture Center as one of New York Citys premier dental offices, my practice is of great importance to me however, the reality is that I am most passionate about my family. Both my wife, Joan and myself come from very close families and we are the proud parents of three grown young men, James, Joshua, and Lucas, and our wonderful dog, Riggs. Although little league baseball, recreation league basketball, Jazz band, and forensics has faded into spirited debates about politics and our beloved NY Mets, it is always with love, warmth, and passion. My hobbies of hiking and traveling would be empty if I were not sharing those with the one I am most passionate about, my wife Joanie!

My name is Christina Hakim , I am very glad I chose Great Expressions Dental . Nate at the front desk was very kind and helpful . And I had the best X-ray tech Beatrice and hygienist Jamie, I could feel they did a great job and it was the best teeth cleaning I ever had done in my life . Dr. Arneja made me feel very comfortable and he was very nice, he explained to me what needed to be done on my tooth. I needed an old filling to be refilled I didn't feel any pain and he did a very good job! And his assistant Andrea was very friendly and very skilled at assisting him. I had a very good experience here, I would recommend his practice.

Dr. Forman is a great dentist, really takes his time with your mouth and knows what he is doing. He performed my first implant and I am completely satisfied and highly recommend him. I go to him for everything and he is extremely knowledgeable. And Victoria is the best hygienist there, she is awesome and really takes her Time to clean your teeth great. And Lisa at the front is absolutely the best. All personnel there is excellent and friendly. Natasha H.

First time here at Smilist in July 2022 for a regular cleaning. They told me i needed a deep cleaning but will need to confirm with my insurance for coverage. They called me to confirm I was covered and scheduled me for 1st part of deep cleaning yesterday 10/10/22. On my way out, to my surprise Lisa the manager told me I have to pay 30% or 70% of the bill. I told her that the person that communicated with me told me that it is fully covered and that i will review it first and provide me a bill instead. I think this practice is a bait and switch tactic that they hope they can claim verbal confirmation but really did not provide such and then the manager, Lisa suggested that I should have confirmed it with my insurance. I agree with that now but I think the practice of making you think they have confirmed the coverage only to keep you blindsided with it until the procedure is done. I will not have my 2nd part of deep cleaning here and will not go back to this dental office. Just be careful with the office people.

I started coming here because the dentist I was seeing closed his own practice down and joined this one. I followed my dentist to this location. I have only been here 1 time before, but I remember having a good experience. The receptionists are friendly and the dental staff are knowledgeable in their field. I don't generally like going to the dentist, however this is a comfortable environment to do so. **UPDATE** I was recently back at this location. The staff made me feel comfortable and relaxed, as I was a little anxious about going to the dentist. Overall a pleasant experience with a professional staff. I will be going back! Thank you to all at, The Smilist Dental! I was back again for a preventative cleaning (12/9/20) and I can't mention enough how professional and pleasant it was dealing with the staff, dental hygienist and doctor. I would recommend my family members and friends go there. 9/27/21 I was back for my third cleaning this year. Very thorough job, as usual! Very happy with the results! 9/30/22 I was in for a dental cleaning with Victoria. She was extremely patient and caring during my visit. I had a very good experience. Thank you.

I would highly recommend Smilist. The office staff are friendly and most importantly very efficient. They help with paperwork insurance etc. I had oral surgery and was very scared they made sure I was at ease and did a great job with the procedure. I would definitely recommend them.

I wanted to thank Nikki (hygienist) who worked on my teeth . I haven't been to the dentist in 7 years . I am traumatized from an incident my brother had done to his mouth when he was younger . I walked in there nervous . Crying in my car and was afraid to come in. I made it in and sat in her chair and from the moment she started talking to me I felt calm. She was so great and patient. Every time I cried she reassured me that I would be fine . I am very happy with my experience today . -Estefania

Terrible experience with Dr. Forman, he was unprofessional, uncaring, aggressive and had a temper issue. He was using vulgar language in front of my child. He certainly was upset at something but that should not have taken over how he should be behaving in front of patients. If you go there, please avoid him. To all fairness everyone else was super nice.

It was a thoroughly positive experience. The hygienist thoroughly prepared the visit and executed a very intense and detailed cleaning with a gentle touch. The dentist explained everything I needed to know about the status of my teeth and the options for my care going forward. I'm very happy that I chose this practice and ended up with this outstanding team.
