Providing world-class dentistry and improving my patients dental function, overall health, and aesthetics is extremely fulfilling, both on a personal and a professional level. Even after practicing dentistry for 33 years, each day continues to be unique because each case and every patient is unique. Practicing in the heart of the melting pot of the world, Ive met and have come to know many people from all corners of the globe and have had cultural exchanges from a unique cross section of New Yorkers, all of whom enrich me personally.
I completed my undergraduate education at Brandeis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1978. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1981 from New York University College of Dentistry. While my formal education is complete, my thirst for knowledge is never ending. I attend numerous forms of continuing education every year and I am always incorporating new and improved advanced dental equipment, materials and techniques to improve patient care and satisfaction.
I work in association with Donated Dental Services, a program for disadvantaged people with dental needs that have neither the financial resources nor public assistance for their dental care. The smiles and grateful responses I receive from these patients are the warmest and most sincere of all, sometimes even accompanied by tears of joy upon completion of their care. These add to some of my fondest memories from my years of practice.
While I may be passionate about my Green Bay Packers and, over the past 33 years of establishing Herald Square Dental & The Denture Center as one of New York Citys premier dental offices, my practice is of great importance to me however, the reality is that I am most passionate about my family. Both my wife, Joan and myself come from very close families and we are the proud parents of three grown young men, James, Joshua, and Lucas, and our wonderful dog, Riggs. Although little league baseball, recreation league basketball, Jazz band, and forensics has faded into spirited debates about politics and our beloved NY Mets, it is always with love, warmth, and passion. My hobbies of hiking and traveling would be empty if I were not sharing those with the one I am most passionate about, my wife Joanie!

I felt pressure on my tooth with a filling, but NO pain. I communicated this to the Dentist. The dentist decided to drill into my tooth that day and put a temporary filling in my tooth because she said she preferred ceramic fillings. Fine, I took her advice. The ceramic filling did not come for about 3 weeks. Then, the dentist was on vacation so I had a temporary filling in my tooth (a very uncomfortable one at that) for over a MONTH. The office called me twice to reschedule. I called back to have it fixed at that time when the ceramic filling arrived and the office said, no other dentist could do the work in the meantime since the first dentist started the work. Serenity now ;) The dentist finally came back from vacation and so I went in to finally have the temp removed and the permanent filling put in, however part of the ceramic filling did not fit in my tooth correctly. Wow, I told the dentist I did not care if I had part ceramic and part plastic fillings in the tooth (because at this pointI did not trust the dentist or the office's competency any longer). The dentist did the filling and it now hurts with added pressure. I have been patient and polite the entire time with this office, but people really need to know how my experience with The Smilist in Port Washington went. Very badly. I do not recommend them at all.

I travel an hour and a half in each direction from northern Westchester County to see Dr Salem because he is most definitely worth the trip. His most pleasant "bedside" personality and work product exceed my expectations every time. His hands work magic, painless, with each procedure! A most amazing dentist and, oh, very reasonably priced! Highly recommend 5 stars!!

I'm not much of a reviewer but I cannot stress how incredible my experience was here that I felt like I needed to share. I called the office because of tooth pain/infection and they were able to schedule me in immediately. Prior to walking in, a staff member greeted me at the door for a temperature check and oximeter reading. The COVID precautions eased my worries of a dental visit amid a pandemic. I met with Dr. Sultan Salem who thoroughly examined my teeth and determined I had an infection and needed a root canal. His team didn't skip a beat! They contacted my local pharmacy to fill a prescription for the infection as well as two root canal specialist that they frequently work with. They were able to make magic happen and get me an appt immediately at an amazing Endodontist (Dr. Baharestani). Both Dr. Salem and his staff were incredibly warm and bubbly. Felt like a normal day with friends pre-pandemic that I almost forgot I was at the dentist with a toothache! I went back to Dr. Salem two weeks later for the crown and it was once again a pleasant experience superseding all expectations of a normal dental experience. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Salem!

Complete terrible experience. Steer clear if you're a new patient and or have no insurance at the moment they will try to hit you over the head with the prices. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and they said I needed nowhere near the work they recommended and said I had less cavities then they told me here at first money hungry dentist if you ask me specially if you're paying cash

Always a great experience with Dr. Salem and Lori ! As well as all staff members and the front desk is always so excellent and gives quality service everytime. My son is 3 and loves the dentist! The entire office is so patient, kind, caring, thorough, and honest! As well as making sure your comfortable at all times. They listen to their patients, which to me is most important when choosing a doctor! Best dental practice by far!

Today was a difficult procedure for me which required the removal of a tooth with a fractured root. I was checked every step of the way for my comfort and to make sure I was pain free. Dr Salem took his time to carefully extract the tooth in one piece. Considering it all, it went extremely well. Far better than I had imagined. Dr Salem did a wonderful job of caring my my well being as well as being a technically proficient oral surgeon. I am so glad that he is mine. The staff was also very supportive. Thank you Dr Salem, Lynette and Yolanda for keeping me calm and safe.

I was met in the parking lot by the COVID screener before I could call to announce my arrival and then accompanied into the office and immediately escorted to the dental chair. Lori was waiting for me for my routine exam and cleaning and Dr Salem stopped-in twice to check. It really can't get better than this office!

For a dental baby, I love this practice. Everyone is so kind and fun. I feel like I'm coming to a friend's house, not.... "the dentist!" LOL! I highly recommend Dr. Salem - he is the BEST!

I have been a patient of Dr. Eisen's for over 30 years. He is caring, gentle and extremely talented. He cares about all his patients and makes you feel comfortable at every visit. Lori is the best dental hygienist, she is gentle and really takes her time. . Dr. Salem is highly skilled and an excellent communicator. He explains every detail step by step so you know what to expect and answers any and all questions clearly to put your mind at ease. Dr.'s Eisen & Salem and rest of the staff are warm & professional, they go out of their way to make sure you are feel safe, and well cared for. You are not just a number here, they know every patient intimately. They really go above and beyond to ensure you're happy with the outcome, regardless of the treatment I highly recommend this practice!

It was a great experience! Jessie and Lynette were very professional and took all the safety precautions necessary for COVID. Yolanda made me feel very comfortable and Dr. Salem was great.
