Providing world-class dentistry and improving my patients dental function, overall health, and aesthetics is extremely fulfilling, both on a personal and a professional level. Even after practicing dentistry for 33 years, each day continues to be unique because each case and every patient is unique. Practicing in the heart of the melting pot of the world, Ive met and have come to know many people from all corners of the globe and have had cultural exchanges from a unique cross section of New Yorkers, all of whom enrich me personally.
I completed my undergraduate education at Brandeis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1978. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1981 from New York University College of Dentistry. While my formal education is complete, my thirst for knowledge is never ending. I attend numerous forms of continuing education every year and I am always incorporating new and improved advanced dental equipment, materials and techniques to improve patient care and satisfaction.
I work in association with Donated Dental Services, a program for disadvantaged people with dental needs that have neither the financial resources nor public assistance for their dental care. The smiles and grateful responses I receive from these patients are the warmest and most sincere of all, sometimes even accompanied by tears of joy upon completion of their care. These add to some of my fondest memories from my years of practice.
While I may be passionate about my Green Bay Packers and, over the past 33 years of establishing Herald Square Dental & The Denture Center as one of New York Citys premier dental offices, my practice is of great importance to me however, the reality is that I am most passionate about my family. Both my wife, Joan and myself come from very close families and we are the proud parents of three grown young men, James, Joshua, and Lucas, and our wonderful dog, Riggs. Although little league baseball, recreation league basketball, Jazz band, and forensics has faded into spirited debates about politics and our beloved NY Mets, it is always with love, warmth, and passion. My hobbies of hiking and traveling would be empty if I were not sharing those with the one I am most passionate about, my wife Joanie!

I had a dental checkup and cleaning, and the service was beyond my expectations. The hygienist and Dr. Were very thorough and polite. I definitely recommend this office and will be back.

I went to this office for a simple procedure (cavity fill) and saw Dr. Dowse, it was the worst visit ever. He injected my muscle in my cheek with novocaine which caused swelling,soreness and bruising for over a week and he couldn't explain to me how/why this happened, He blew it off and had no answers for me. I then went to another dentist to fix what he had done because I was still experiencing pain in the tooth he worked on and the new Dr. told me the cavity was still there and she was surprised with how big it was. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN OR RECCOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE.

Very nice Dental Office, virtually no waiting time. Dental Hygienist took good care of me. Don't really like the sensation of the tools that they used to clean my teeth, but she was very conscious of my worries.

The new dentist there (the only one currently working there) is absolutely awesome. He took his time explaining everything to me and made sure throughout the entire process I wasn't feeling any pain. Didn't even feel him give the novacain injections. I have a bad phobia with dentist and this doctor was perfect. If u have a fear of dentistry, this is the man to see. His assistant was just as good and caring.

I love everything about the Bayshore office!! The receptionists are friendly and respectful, Tiffany my hygienist is extremely gentle and thorough and Dr. Parker has a wonderful chairside manor, taking the time to thoroughly examine your mouth and address All of your concerns. They treat you like you're family....not just another patient. I won't go anywhere else.

Had the pleasure of starting at the smiliest in bayshore about a month ago for the first time without any prior knowledge of the practice, since then I have had only good experiences, add top notch dental work and you have the smiliest! Besides a great staff an exceptional dental work they seem to really care! For example I had lost a filling on one of my front teeth so I reached out stating it was an emergency an was fit into the schedule for the very next day! I received the best dental work (filling) I have ever received, no pain, quick and aesthetically perfect! I'm more then grateful, Thank you dr Dave for the exceptional dental work! -Liam Dougherty

I was a little nervous after not going since the summer of 2019. Before Covid. Very clean office. Christine who cleaned my teeth was very gentle.I was very comfortable with her doing it.Will ask for her in the future Dr Dave is very knowledgeable. I was very happy with him. I will definitely be going there from now on.

It was my first time at Smiles. The office was super clean and sanitize.
