Providing world-class dentistry and improving my patients dental function, overall health, and aesthetics is extremely fulfilling, both on a personal and a professional level. Even after practicing dentistry for 33 years, each day continues to be unique because each case and every patient is unique. Practicing in the heart of the melting pot of the world, Ive met and have come to know many people from all corners of the globe and have had cultural exchanges from a unique cross section of New Yorkers, all of whom enrich me personally.
I completed my undergraduate education at Brandeis University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1978. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1981 from New York University College of Dentistry. While my formal education is complete, my thirst for knowledge is never ending. I attend numerous forms of continuing education every year and I am always incorporating new and improved advanced dental equipment, materials and techniques to improve patient care and satisfaction.
I work in association with Donated Dental Services, a program for disadvantaged people with dental needs that have neither the financial resources nor public assistance for their dental care. The smiles and grateful responses I receive from these patients are the warmest and most sincere of all, sometimes even accompanied by tears of joy upon completion of their care. These add to some of my fondest memories from my years of practice.
While I may be passionate about my Green Bay Packers and, over the past 33 years of establishing Herald Square Dental & The Denture Center as one of New York Citys premier dental offices, my practice is of great importance to me however, the reality is that I am most passionate about my family. Both my wife, Joan and myself come from very close families and we are the proud parents of three grown young men, James, Joshua, and Lucas, and our wonderful dog, Riggs. Although little league baseball, recreation league basketball, Jazz band, and forensics has faded into spirited debates about politics and our beloved NY Mets, it is always with love, warmth, and passion. My hobbies of hiking and traveling would be empty if I were not sharing those with the one I am most passionate about, my wife Joanie!

Everyone there are friendly, accommodating and make you feel very comfortable and welcome. The front desk staff are always patient and kind. The hygienists and dentists are gentle and ask you frequently how you're doing. I can honestly say that I dont dread going to the dentist anymore.

My husband had an appointment for a consultation on Wednesday with the periodontist. He was checked in by a woman named Roxanne (whose voice was extremely fake and high pitched.) my husband and I sat in the waiting room for over an hour. She never even checked on us. We left the office and expected a phone call apologizing for not seeing us or maybe even asking what happened. We got nothing. As I sat in the waiting room with my husband we learned about the woman whose name is Roxanne's personal life. She's having an affair on her husband, her daughter plays softball, some poor girl is going to be demoted and she has no clue. Everything other than I'm sorry for the wait. He will be with you shortly. We are very disappointed in how this all turned out. We love Dr. Cekada, Jeannie and the most of the staff. This is just a huge disappointment. We will go else where for our treatment going forward.

My first visit as I was nervous as always at the dentist .. they made me feel calm and everyone there was so helpful ..very happy with the way we were treated!! can't wait to see the outcome as me and my husband have alot of work ahead of us ... Glad we found them!!!

I made appt on phone and few days before appt I was told the call center put me in as an emergency but I was a new pt wanting X-rays and cleaning. My time was changed which was ok. I went and was told my appt was for the next day, I was going to go home but the receptionist was so apologetic she put me right in. I didn't expect it. She set me right up and from the hygienists to the dentists they were so professional and courtesy. I highly recommend them

Absolutely awesome experience!! Staff was extremely personalable...literally sat in the waiting room and had a full blown conversation with the receptionist! Amazing can't wait to go back which is not rare for a dentist office lol
