Dr. Chadron Araki is the owner of The Smiling Place. After attending the University of Hawaii he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2001. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, and the Honolulu County Dental Society.

Dr. Araki enjoys volunteering with the Friends of Grace medical and dental mission teams in Myanmar, serving orphans, refugees and students. He lectures at oral health and career days held at local schools. He serves Calvary Church of the Pacific as an elder and is also on the Hawaii AWANA Ministry team.

Dr. Araki can often be found at dental conventions around the country, taking classes to learn about new techniques or practices, and looking for new and improved products to benefit The Smiling Place patients.

Dr. Hirota has practiced dentistry since 2005. She received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Honolulu. Dr. Hirota is a member of the American Dental Association and Hawaii Dental Association.

Shaileen Araki is a member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, and the Honolulu County Dental Society. She attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida, earning her undergraduate degree in Biology, and then went on to Creighton University in Nebraska where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She enjoys volunteering her time on dental mission trips to under-served countries and hopes to annually volunteer if her father gives her vacation time off. She has also volunteered her time at One World Community Dentistry in Nebraska, Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and Project Homeless at Creighton University. She volunteers at church with refreshments and coffee so she can get first pick of the doughnuts. In her spare time, Dr. Araki enjoys harassing her six siblings, talking to her mom, and shopping with what she should be saving to pay off her student loans. She also goes to the gym, but she does not enjoy that.

Check YELP Reviews to compare This place should be called the "Frowning Place" The head Dentist Chadron Araki is completely incompetent. I had made an appointment several days prior. I went in got an x-ray, waited patiently for OVER an HOUR for him to stumble into the room, without even an introduction, and say he couldn't do anything for a simple, common chipped tooth. Nor was he accepting new patients. Dr. Araki would not even give an overview of possible recommended treatments. Why didn't his office tell me that they were not taking any patients BEFORE they accepted our appointment, had us sign in & took an X-ray? All to do absolutely nothing but charge us $80 for NO SERVICE whatsoever. Moreover, most of his staff (with the exception of one dental assistant) was NOT even wearing a mask in the midst of COVID-19. The front office staff who took patients temperature entering was NOT even wearing a mask. Do these people even have even a basic understanding of human health and SAFETY? They are dealing with people's mouth every day. Do they have even a basic understanding of business? All I know is that I walked out with a nearly $80 bill and got no treatment, nor recommendations whatsoever. As I walked out, all I could do is try & laugh, scratched my head wondering had Dr. Chardon Araki got his degree in dentistry from a Rolling Stone magazine ad or an Ashram of alternative medicine in India? Had Dr. Akari sucked too much laughing gas prior to walking in to see me? Or had he permanent damaged his brain due to an overdose of sucking another anesthesia? Either way, my patient experience REALLY sucked! I would never go there ever again. They wasted 2 hours of my time, charged my insurance $80 & did not treat me-nor even attempt to help me. Someone please call the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The Frowning Place!!!

New workers making simple mistakes. I called the Ewa Beach number (I have it saved to my address book) to schedule an appointment. The receptionist gave me a time, but didn't say that the appointment was in Kunia. I assumed it would be at the Ewa Beach branch, because that's the branch that I called. -face palm- There should be a standard procedure to give the: Date, Time, and Location with every appointment confirmation. Print it out on a checklist and post it right in behind the phone so you can see it. Say it at the end of the phone call before saying goodbye. P.S. I used to go to this dental office, it's pretty good, abate expensive, but they should readjust their procedures so this situation doesn't happen again. I'd also like to see the new patient forms on their website again. It makes things easier. The links are also missing on the patient page, but are present on the home page.

Dr Christopher Young is a fantastic dentist. He took his time to explain the procedure and made sure I was comfortable. His staff were kind and worked well together. They were very professional and it was easy to schedule an appointment. Thank you for taking care of me! I highly recommend him.

Haven't had any work done by the Doctor yet but the hygienist that cleaned my teeth today was awesome! Very personable, professional and pleasant. Looking forward to my upcoming appointments. Oh, noticed he doesn't have his own letterhead yet. All the paperwork I filled out and received had another Doctor's name and a different address from this office. Hmm, kinda weird. His name was not on any of my paperwork. Strange. I would think that could become quite confusing, legally, since I did not see the Doctor whose forms I signed and I was not at that address on the forms. Quite puzzling. Dr. Young must be very new. He does have a business card though. :)

My experience with the Smiling Place comes from their Ewa office. The staff there are friendly. They remember my name and things about me. I feel bad because I've been going here for years and I still don't know who is who because everyone looks like ninjas with their masks on. It's not their fault though. They use masks, gloves and protective gear for our saftey. See, they demonstrate that they're clean and care about our health. The hygienists are very informative and will give you tips on how to keep your teeth clean. They're always willing to answer your questions. They're punctual/on time and I've never had to wait long for my appointment. If my appointment is at 9am they will usually take me in right away. Also, these guys rock because they'll actually call and mail you to remind you of your appointment. They're not trying to rip you off from your hard earned cash. They do charge a no show fee and it's only fair because they're loosing business for people not showing up. My mom thinks that constant reminders are annoying and it's the customer's responsibility to remember appointments. Yes this is true but people like me lead a busy life and sometimes you just need that reminder/safety net. I totally recommend the Smiling Place and will continue to come here for the awesome service. Serious. I just got my teeth cleaned and it looks like a million dollars and shines brighter than the sun lol :).
