Dr. Michael Stoker established The Smile Shop in 1980. In 1990 he was joined by Dr. Richard Adams. Today Dr. Nicole Stoker, Dr. Melissa McCool and Dr. Whitney Garol lead The Smile Shop team. All of our doctors at The Smile Shop have had postdoctoral residency training to become certified in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Nicole Stoker attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and the University of Nevada, Reno, before obtaining her dental degree at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco in 2005.

The Smile Shop is a locally owned pediatric dentistry practice established in 1980 with three office locations in Reno and Sparks. Our team delivers a comprehensive and personalized approach to your childs pediatric dentistry needs.

Dr McCool and her staff are incredibly nice and accommodating. They do great work and really make the kiddos feel comfortable and cared for.

First time my two year-old visited the dentist. Dr. Stoker was calm, patient, and kind (kiddo cried the whole time) while still taking enough time. She explained everything in a way easy to understand. The other staff were kind, smiley, and helpful. They give out toys!!!

We have a 5 year old with autism that is usually terrified of the dentist. The team at the smile shop is absolutely fantastic with her. Thank you for your kindness and excellent care with our little one.

I'm having a hard time leaving a bad review but it is due to a billing problem. All the Doctors and the hygienists in that office have done amazing care on my daughter. My daughter has been a patient there since she was 1 years old in 2008 all the way up until 3 years ago in 2018, she is now 13.She decided that she didn't want to see a little kid dentist anymore. My problem is with the billing. I haven't heard anything from them for 3 years.My phone number has never changed my address hasn't changed up until the past 3 months because I recently moved. I get a voice message saying that they have some mail that was sent back to them and to Please call us back so we can update the address on file. Which I thought was totally fine at 1st.Then I called them today and I found out I have a $160 balance. Well I was shocked because I thought this balance was already taken care of because when I made the last appointment for my daughter in 2018 I told them I didn't have my old insurance anymore, that I got new insurance through my job and the lady over the phone took my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance said everything should be ok, "We will see your daughter on her next appointment in August". Meanwhile this was in May of 2018 that I made the appointment for August of 2018. Now its August of 2018 for her final appointment with this Dentist office.The lady told me that my insurance looks good and we are good to go. Now 3 years later I get a phone call today about my address and a balance on the account. The office staff transferred me to an office manager and I asked them why I wasnt reached over the past 3 years? I have received nothing from them not one damn thing from this office. Not a phone call, Not a email. They have my email address. Nothing has changed over the past 3 years except that I moved 3 months ago. Now they're reaching out to me and wanting they're money which I don't have a problem paying it. I was very upset when I talked to the office manager. I just simply asked why wasnt I notified 3 years ago, why did you guys wait so long up until 2 days ago. She had no answer for me. She said she wasn't sure why but that the balance needed to be paid. I found out that the office didn't put in my right informationt and billed my old insurance. I am just very upset and disappointed in this office staff for not reaching out to me sooner.

Somehow I always get overcharged when having a procedure done on my daughter. Come to find out, for the same procedure that I had at my doctors office, they were charging more for and thats when I realized something funny was going on. My last appointment with them, I was told I had over $100 in credit (due to them over charging me every time I took my daughter there). So my daughter goes in for a cavity filling and what do you know they said I owe nothing. A month later I get a bill in the mail. Upon inquiring on this bill, sure enough they said the insurance did not pay a portion and that's what's left over. A filing is less than $100 at any dental office i go to with my insurance. So somehow this filling was over $100 plus I had to pay $53???????? I always walk out of there owing more for this or that. Now that I changed doctors I have not had one incident of being over charged for simple procedures. I told the lady this is why you lost my daughter as a patient and we will never go back there again. I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens too. CHECK EVERY BILL with these people.

Email prior to visit didn't work so I called. Told us to come in so we did. No response when we showed up for our appointment... they told us to text from the parking lot, which we did. No response so we came inside. We were told to return to the parking lot, which we did. My daughters (7 & 9) were there for a dental check-up but did not have masks--checking inside their mouths, didn't think they would be needed. Once we were sent away, we did find a mask in the car so asked if my 7 year-old could have her appointment. Was told by receptionist that it was too late (4:07 for a 4:00 appointment). They would not see us. Very frustrating experience and will not be back. I understand that they are hamstrung by COVID restrictions but we did comply and were still denied service.

Thought i found a great dentist for my kids. I was wrong. This place cares nothing for kids and only about how much money they can get out of you. Horrible values. They will add any charge they can on the bill. Money before kids dentel health is there motto. I can not stand a business that puts greed before a child's health.

This is by far the best Pediatric Dentist ever! They are so very efficient and quick! It is amazing. We were in and out so fast yesterday and it saved me! I was so busy with work related things that I was stressing about time but they had us in and out in 40 min. We were even 9 min late! They did not hassle us about being late, called us back right after we signed in. Everyone is so nice and has such a positive attitude! This was at Baker Lane office but we typically are at the Somerset location. A fabulous office with amazing views! I can not say a negative thing about the Smile Shop and we will be sad when the kids are grown up and have to see a different dentist :( Thank You Smile Shop for the past 10 years and the next 10!

This is by far the best Pediatric Dentist ever! They are so very efficient and quick! It is amazing. We were in and out so fast yesterday and it saved me! I was so busy with work related things that I was stressing about time but they had us in and out in 40 min. We were even 9 min late! They did not hassle us about being late, called us back right after we signed in. Everyone is so nice and has such a positive attitude! This was at Baker Lane office but we typically are at the Somerset location. A fabulous office with amazing views! I can not say a negative thing about the Smile Shop and we will be sad when the kids are grown up and have to see a different dentist :( Thank You Smile Shop for the past 10 years and the next 10!

We have been patients at the Smile Shop with 3 children for 10 years. I have nothing but good things to say about all of the dentists, hygienists, and even the front office and billing support staff as we have certainly had the chance over the last 10 years to work with all of them at least once. My kids have had dental injuries, fillings, cleanings, extractions, and superior care in all of these situations. Dr. Nicole Stoker caught a serious developmental issue with my daughter's bite that I was then able to seek treatment for. This office deserves 5 stars! I hope more patients take the time to write positive reviews; they certainly deserve them!
