Dr. Henderson wanted to become a dentist after participating in a humanitarian trip to the Dominican Republic. There he saw the positive impact dentists can have on someone. He was inspired by their ability to make connections, heal, and improve the health and overall quality of life of those they served.
He completed a bachelors degree in Korean and attended dental school at Oregon Health & Science University. After graduating with his DMD degree, he has been serving patients in the Portland area ever since.
After practicing for several years, Dr. Henderson opened up The Smile Lounge so that he could focus on providing more attention and care to his patients. In particular, Dr. Henderson loves working with patients with autism and anxiety.

At The Smile Lounge, we are passionate about making our community smile. For us, that means going beyond dentistry. With every new patient that comes into our practice, we donate sensory tools to children in the community who are challenged with autism.
Dr. Henderson knows the challenges that these children face as he has a son who is on the autism spectrum. He has seen firsthand how valuable and transformative these sensory tools are.To help carry out this mission, The Smile Lounge has partnered with a local non-profit, The Shadow Project. They work with local schools and provide support for students with disabilities. The Shadow Project creates sensory spaces in local schools and sends out sensory kits to kids in our community. They also work with students with challenges like ADHD and dyslexia to improve their reading ability and develop the skill of goal setting.

Dr Andrew Henderson does it all personally, from x-ray to cleaning, beginning with a conversation face to face after Sara greeted me at the front office. he eased all nerves, had zero judgement on past dental care (or lack thereof), addressed in full any concerns, and was personable and genuine throughout. he is available, attentive, and treats you as though you are actually valued. the information and perspective he provides, without the "side dish" of expectation or sales, is one of a kind. we comfortably chatted personal life and hobbies in-between whitening options and x-rays. it is clear how much he respects and enjoys his time with patients, and strives (and succeeds!) to make sure they feel that way. also, special shout-out to Sara at the front desk - without even asking, she spent detailed time helping me understand my insurance coverage and making sure I was confident in knowing exactly what it covers. she is awesome and so helpful. dream team! thank you for practically curing a two-decade long dental aversion in one visit!

I was looking for a new dentist in Tigard for a teeth cleaning. Saw the great reviews and decided to try them out. I was not disappointed! Everyone was kind and friendly. They were very informative and not pushy at all. I ended up deciding to have Botox injections for my clenching and grinding, and it's made a huge difference! I no longer have jaw pain. I am so glad I found this place.

I don't really write reviews, but had such a good experience here. I have been clenching and grinding my teeth and wanted to stop it. The dentist did a great job explaining a few different options. I ended up deciding to try Botox. It has made a huge difference. I don't have jaw pain anymore. The Botox injections were quick and painless. Definitely recommend this place if you want a dentist who isn't pushy, will answer your questions, and let you choose what you want.

I'm very needle phobic and get anxious at the dentist. Dr. Henderson extracted one of my wisdom teeth, and I was genuinely surprised how gentle and painless it was. I clench my teeth and get tension headaches, so when I found out he also does Botox injections, I asked him about it. He explained the potential benefits of Botox, and I decided to have it done. My jaw pain is pretty much gone, and my headaches are much better. Definitely recommend this place.

If you're looking for a family friendly dentist look no further. I've taken my son to Dr. Henderson twice now and it couldn't be a more pleasurable experience. My sons oral hygiene habits and the condition of his teeth have dramatically improved as a direct result of Dr. Hendersons information, advice, and care.

Excellent dentist! Dr. Henderson let's the patient drive their care and does not push you into making any immediate decisions. I didn't feel rushed or just another patient. Will recommend to my friends and family and looking forward to returning for my next cleaning!

I had a wonderful experience at The Smile Lounge. The dentist really made me feel comfortable and at ease the whole time I was there. The amount of effort this practice puts in to make sure every appointment is tailored to your needs really shows. I'd reccomend anyone scared of the dentist to go to The Smile Lounge.

I had a great experience at the Smile Lounge for a teeth whitening. I could see the difference in my first visit. The process was quick and stress free. Dr.Henderson explained the process and answered all questions. I will be making the trip to Tigard from now on for the wonderful dental care!

My overall experience has been beyond. A very caring doctor that saw me when my former dentist could not see me and was in unbearable pain. I since transferred my care to him and saw him for my next treatment. I love their office and the scenery outside from the patient room. He's gentle, asks and cares in every way to be safe and certain that you're not experiencing any kind of discomfort. The receptionist is nice and answers any questions. I generally recommend this office. It's great that he has a tv above so you can watch while he's treating you .... very thorough in examining and explaining things. THANKS The Smile Lounge.

The Smile Lounge indeed. They make sure your smile is looking its best and put a big one on your face just for visiting. Fantastic experience from top to bottom, pun intended. Sara at the front desk is extremely helpful and the doctor is very informative and takes his time explaining everything. And what a view from their beautiful office. Enthusiastically recommend!

Had a tooth blow up on me thrusday night... called and left a message... and they returned my call right when they opened on Friday and had me for emergency procedure and I was pain-free that day. This was the first time he done any work on me. And it was pain free and he was very attentive to my needs. Top notch customer service. Quick and efficient. I am switching dentists now. He saved my 3 day weekend!
