Dr. Parr grew up here in Virginia Beach. After graduating from Cox High School and attending the University of Virginia he went to dental school at MCV in Richmond. Dr. Parr graduated with honors in several areas before returning home to Virginia Beach to open his own dental office in 1989. He has received extensive training in cosmetic and implant dentistry as well as sedation dentistry. Dr. Parr loves helping people have the smile they have always dreamed of having.
Dr. Parr and his wife Tracey have three wonderful boys: Taylor Justin and Brandon. As a family they enjoy skiing and snowboarding together and have spent years together with Dr. Parr coaching and Tracey as team mom on baseball and soccer fields and wrestling mats.
Dr. Parr is past president of the Eastern Virginia Make A Wish Foundation and is currently on the board of and past charter president of Tobys Dream Foundation. His passion for helping people is integral in how we take care of our patients at The Smile Center.
Dr. Frey is a native of Virginia Beach. Growing up in this area, she graduated from Cox High School and Old Dominion University before attending dental school at MCV. Dr. Frey graduated from MCV in 1999 with honors and joined Dr. Parr as an associate then became partner in 2004. She has pursued additional training in orthodontics and Invisalign treatment.
Dr. Frey married shortly after graduation to another Virginia Beach local, Joren, and they are proud parents of their daughter Abigail and 2 sons, Zachary and Joshua. Most weekends the Freys can be found at area swimming pools and soccer fields as their children are avid competitors. Dr. Frey has served on the board of Tide Swimming for the last 7 years working diligently to raise awareness for the importance of learning to swim, organizing the teams meets and service hours, and also serves as Team Manager for her sons competitive travel soccer team.
Dr. Taylor Parr grew up here in Virginia Beach. And is the oldest son of Dr. Scott Parr our founding dentist. After graduating from First Colonial High School and attending the University of Virginia he went to dental school at MCV/VCU in Richmond. Dr. Taylor then did a 2-year residency in Los Angeles at the UCLA VA clinic where he focused on surgical and sedation procedures including cosmetic and implant techniques. Dr. Taylor enjoys learning the latest procedures to help our patients have the best results possible.
Sharetta Morrow has been with The Smile Center the longest! She joined the practice in September of 1997 after graduating from Old Dominion University with her bachelor's of Science in Dental Hygiene. Sharetta returned to ODU in 1999 and received her Master's Degree in Dental Hygiene Education in 2004.
Susan is one of our Dental Assistants who has been with the practice since September of 1999. She graduated in 1983 from a 2 year program at Wilson Technological Center to become a Certified Dental Assistant. Susan and her husband Dan have one daughter Erica. Susan's favorite season is Football Season! She has room in her house dedicated to her favorite team and a dog named Brady (named after Tom Brady), which proves that she is Virginia's #1 New England Patriots fan!
Rebecca joined our practice in June of 2006 when she graduated from dental hygiene school in Roanoke. She and her husband George have welcomed their twins Lorelai and Silas to their family in December 2011. She loves relaxing and hanging out with her friends and is always up for an adventure!
With over 25 years of dental experience, Sharon continues her career here. She joined our team in August of 2006 as one of our Dental Health Directors with a key role as our Insurance Coordinator. She enjoys traveling on the weekend with her husband Mike. Together they have three grown children: Jason, Brian, and Renee.
Persistent dry mouth can cause a variety of uncomfortable symptoms, including cracked lips, a sore throat, and a feeling of stickiness. Decreased saliva can also lead to frequent thirst and mouth sores.
Without sufficient saliva, normal daily activities can be more difficult. You may struggle to speak due to a hoarse voice or need to drink water frequently in order to swallow. Many individuals with dry mouth also have a decreased sense of taste.
Smoking and chewing tobacco can affect the amount of saliva you produce and exacerbate dry mouth. Regularly breathing with your mouth open can also contribute to dry mouth symptoms. Individuals with seasonal allergies or other conditions that limit their ability to breathe through their nose may suffer with frequent dry mouth as well.
Dry mouth is a common side effect of hundreds of prescription and over-the-counter medications, including antidepressants, antihistamines, and pain relievers. Some cancer therapies can also affect saliva.
Decreased salivationis also associated with health conditions. Nerve damage in the head or neck can affect salivary glands. Dry mouth can also result from diabetes, Alzheimers disease, and certain autoimmune disorders.
Discussing your symptoms and medical history with your dentist is the best way to determine if your dry mouth is serious. They can review the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications, and examine your mouth for signs of serious issues.
There are a variety of products available to lubricate the inside of your mouth. Your dentist may recommend a prescription or over-the-counter mouthwash designed for dry mouth, artificial saliva, or a moisturizer.

The smile center has really taken alot of my fears away about going to the dentist. After having my consultation with Dr. Parr and Lauren. I feel so much better. They were very informative and everyone was so friendly. Best decision that I have made.

I came in for my six month checkup last week, Sheretta is fabulous, friendly, very professional and knowledgeable. Today my granddaughter is having the wires changed on her braces, her second time having braces. She has a positive attitude about the dentist due to this office having the finest dentists and dental associates and the great care they take with everyone. Love this place they are so friendly and know who you are as soon as you walk into the office. Highly recommend it you need a dentist!

I have been going to the smile center since I was a little kid. I moved away from the area and tried a few other places.... Big mistake and I came running back to the smile center!!! My first consultation back in almost 15 years and all of my worries and concerns were validated and understood. All of the staff members treat you like family and genuinely care from the second you walk in until the second you leave. I had some staff members remember me from over 15 years ago! They are still asking about how my family members are doing from when I was a kid. I HAD terrible dental anxiety due to another experience at a different dentist... and I have overcome my fear since returning here! I do not feel like I am ever being judged when getting my teeth cleaned or any type of procedure. I have had cleanings (Megan is my hygienist and she is great!!), a crown, and multiple fillings and they have all turned out great! I remember my first day retuning back here almost a year ago and I was telling everyone about how I enjoy going to the dentist now. And I was so happy to see they still give out a flower on your way out....I always look forward to getting one! This will be my dentist for life!

I have been going to The Smile Center for over 20 years now. Not only are the doctors great (Dr. Parr and Dr. Frey) but the entire staff is excellent, and I always feel like part of the family! Also, they have the best Hygienist (Rebecca and Sharetta) in Virginia. Oh and one last thing, the girls are just so sweet, especially the one named Susan. She is my favorite assistant.

I always expect something wonderful to happen everyday of my life; with the exception of ALL THINGS DENTAL... A few weeks ago I finally gathered up a nerve to reach out to THE Smile Center. I sent the email and thought nothing more of it. I received a follow up call the very next business day from Janine. She scheduled me and sent my new patient paperwork via email... a few days passed and she followed up to make sure I received the paperwork and answered any questions in anticipation of my appointment. She even offered to resend the paperwork so I wouldn't have to go searching through my emails (WOW). Today I went to my appointment and from the moment I walked in, it was like I was THE ONLY PATIENT in the office. The attention, care and concern extended was remarkable I have EXTREME DENTAL ANXIETY and within 5-10 min, no lie I didn't even remember I was in the dentist Every single person was personable, genuine and intentional about their service level. It was like being at a spa with a few great girlfriends. Dr. Frye thoroughly explained my treatment options Theresa answered all my follow up questions and was even able to get me scheduled for a cleaning today too. I mean they left no stone unturned and I was completely blown away. Sharetta the dental hygienist referred to them as "FANTASY DENTAL ISLAND" and I couldn't agree more ... seriously I have legit been smiling since I left.... Best experience ever and just as I was walking out Theresa was like hey take some flowers on your way out... WOW! WOW! WOW! I'm telling everybody I know GET HERE!!!!
