WHAT IS INVISALIGN? Invisalign is a system of clear aligner trays that are custom-made to fit each patients teeth. Each tray is made of a clear, medical-grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn. Patients begin by wearing the first tray and swapping it out for subsequent trays as directed by the doctor. With each tray slightly different than the
Braces You have been told that you need braces to correct crowded, crooked, overlapping, or gaps in your teeth. Orthodontics may seem like a daunting process, but this extensive guide can help you find all the answers to the questions you are bound to have as you explore treatment options. How Do Braces Straighten Crooked Teeth? Braces use constant, gentle
Adult Orthodontics Everyone deserves a smile they can be proud of, and many achieve straightened, well-aligned teeth after undergoing orthodontic treatment as a child. But for adults who do not have the privilege of having straight teeth or looking for corrections, orthodontics is still an option. In fact, there is no such thing as being too old for orthodontic treatment.
Brushing your teeth with braces is extremely important. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small strip of fluoride toothpaste. When you brush your teeth, move the brush in small, circular motions to reach food particles that may be under your gum line. Hold the toothbrush at an angle and brush slowly and carefully, covering all areas between teeth, between braces, and the surface of each tooth. It will take you several minutes to thoroughly brush your teeth. Brush up on the lower teeth, down on the upper teeth, as well as the outside, inside, and chewing surface of your front and back teeth. Brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth before you rinse.
When our doctors use the word elastics they are referring to tiny rubber bands. These tiny rubber bands apply pressure to the teeth in certain directions that braces alone can not. These elastics are connected to tiny hooks on your braces or Invisalign trays. The elastics can be taken in and out, and your doctor will instruct you on how often to wear them, as well as what configuration they should be worn in. Elastics should only be worn as prescribed by your orthodontist.
If your elastics break, simply replace them with a new one. If you run out of elastics, call our office and we will gladly ship you a new pack. Although it is not common for elastics to break, sometimes opening too wide or too much stretch of the elastic will cause it to tear. If your elastics repeatedly break, contact our office and we will fit you to a more appropriate elastic size.
As a general rule, patients with braces should avoid anything sticky, crunchy, or hard. Some of these foods include popcorn, peanuts, gum, caramel, and hard chips. These foods can cause brackets to break, which can lengthen orthodontic treatment time and cause emergency visits.
Retainers are worn after braces or Invisalign treatment to maintain the corrected position of the teeth. There are a number of different types of retainers that are available to you, ask your orthodontist which one will best suit your needs. One of our talented doctors will instruct you on how long you should wear your retainers.
We offer Retainer-Brite at our office. Simply soak your retainers in Retainer-Brite, and they should look good as new. We also recommend brushing your retainers after you take them out. Do not allow your retainers to sit in hot water or put in the dishwasher as this will deform your retainers. Always keep your retainers in a case when not in your mouth. Never keep your retainers in a napkin this is the most common reason retainers are accidentally thrown away!
The Invisalign Clear Aligner system can offer patients the opportunity to have the smile of their dreams with a more discrete method of treatment. As a Premier Invisalign Provider, our doctor is one of the most experienced in the region with using Invisalign to create beautiful smiles. Invisalign is clear, removable, and extremely effective when used correctly
The Invisalign system is an innovative orthodontic treatment that stimulates your teeth using clear aligners. Each aligner should be worn 22 hours a day for about 2 weeks with regular office visits every 10 to 12 weeks in order to check orthodontic progress. Once treatment is complete you will be given a retainer that should be worn nightly in order to maintain your new beautiful smile. Orthodontic treatment with Invisalign averages anywhere from 6 months to 18 months.
AestheticOne of the most obvious benefits of the Invisalign system is the aesthetic. With the Invisalign Clear Aligners, your orthodontic process will be virtually invisible to those around you. With this system, patients are able to remove their aligners to brush and floss eliminating the risk of any staining after treatment. We suggest that patients make sure to put their aligners on right after they finish eating, brushing, or flossing.
