An admitted science geek, Dr. Issa loves the ever-evolving field of orthodontics and technology that represents the state-of-the-art care that his practice is known for. When hes not chair-side with patients, youll find Dr. Issa still devoted to his orthodontic specialty. Whether hes at his computer reviewing a SureSmile or Invisalign treatment plan, or reviewing the latest journal articles and courses, Dr. Issa believes its his responsibility to stay on top of the latest ways to provide great treatment to his patients.

Dr. Issa was born in Dover New Hampshire, and then lived alternatively between the US and Egypt as he was growing up. After graduating with honors and a BS in Dental Surgery from Cairo University, he completed a General Dentistry Residency at Cairo University Hospital.

There he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Master of Science and completed a Graduate Residency in Dentistry before entering and then completing the Orthodontic Residency Program for his Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. This educational path that included multiple residencies provides Dr. Issa a strong foundation that he uses daily in his patients orthodontic treatment and gives him particular insight when managing multi-disciplinary cases with general dentists and other specialists. Dr. Issa has completed his certification by the American Board of Orthodontists. He was the past President of the Texas Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Issa, his wife (whos also a dentist) and their two sons love exploring their new home state, taking advantage of parks, restaurants and sports activities. The wide variety of things to do and places to go are some of the reasons they chose to move to Plano from Minnesota. Early treatment, or Phase 1 treatment, is extremely important to helping develop the jaws in younger children to ensure that there is plenty of room for their permanent teeth. It can also help improve the balance of the lower and upper jaws to help correct the way they fit together. Several issues can be further addressed once the child has grown up some, but there are several instances where fixing these issues early can be beneficial to the child and their mouth. The early treatment program that will be discussed can help maximize the long-term results that come from having braces, and it might even help lower the cost of later treatment. Just a few examples of the issues that can be fixed early are the lower jaw growing too short or the upper jaw is too narrow.

Dr. Issa has been known to recommend the first exam at the age of 7 for the child. This exam is important for giving you the right information for treatment concerning the bite of the child and whether the teeth are growing correctly or not. The Growth and Development Club was started by these two orthodontists to help monitor children who might not be ready for treatment just yet. In this club, which is free of charge, they can monitor children by assessing their bite and their teeth while they grow and age. They will also make recommendations that could benefit the children in the future. The early treatment could result in:

Believe it or not, the most common ages for orthodontic treatments is between the ages of 11 and 15. This isnt for any old reason either. Most children have grown a full set of adult teeth by the age of 12, which means that any gaps or crooked teeth are extremely noticeable. It is crucial to take advantage of the growth that your child still has left to make any or all treatments to help correct the smile and make it exceptional. Many children are already in braces at that time, and it is even exciting for many adolescents to become a part of the crowd of kids with braces. At The Orthodontist, we have convenient after-school hours for kids who have braces, and it can be loads of fun.

Sometimes, adults need orthodontic treatment too. In fact, it is never too late to get an incredibly beautiful and straight smile. You can also get bite issues taken care of as well, even as an adult. Many adults even say that they wished they would have gotten it done sooner to help improve their smile earlier in their life. There are several benefits to undergoing orthodontic treatment as an adult. Here are a few of the benefits:

There are several treatment options adults. Many of the options include braces metal braces, clear braces, braces placed behind the teeth, and even Invisalign which is a special form of clear aligners. Our orthodontists will work hard to find the best treatment option for you that matches your look and even your lifestyle. Their special SureSmile Technology is a great way to get the braces and treatment you need at a faster pace than other places.

Did you know that you can get the smile that you have been dreaming of without having to get braces? Yes, Invisalign technology is a type of aligners that helps straighten your teeth through a treatment that is almost invisible. You can eat what you want and brush and floss normally without the restraints that braces put on your adult life. The Orthodontist is a certified destination for Invisalign. Our experience helps ensure that you get the best experience possible with your Invisalign treatment.

Invisalign is also easy to get started. With a simple exam and a diagnosis from our orthodontist, you will have the treatment option before you. You will get impressions, photos, and even digital x-rays by the professionals to ensure that your diagnosis and treatment option is the best one for your case. The information that we gather about your teeth is sent to the headquarters of Align Technology. The technician for Invisalign works closely with the doctors to get a precise and accurate treatment option. The most critical part of the process is the detail and attention to making the aligners fit naturally. Once the final treatment has been approved, the design is manufactured as calibrated aligners to help gradually move your teeth into the desired final positions.

Much like the adult version of the Invisalign technology, the Invisalign Teen is made specifically for teenagers who want to better their smile without the restrictions of braces. Through a series of removable and clear aligners, you can straighten your teeth while continuing to eat what you want, as well and brush and floss normally. It is also much easier to maintain that awesome oral hygiene without the restriction of braces, and it is a positive thing for those with a social life. It is not easy being a teenager, but getting a beautiful or handsome smile doesnt have to be hard at all.

There are two different questions that orthodontists are usually asked by the parents who are considering this treatment for their teen. Will they end up losing them? Will they wear them long enough? At The Orthodontist, we answer these questions with the reassurance that parents need before jumping starting treatment. Typically, those teens that have committed to Invisalign are motivated to keep up with their aligners and to wear them like they are supposed to see their teeth straighten over time. If you are still concerned as a parent, no worries, well be happy to go over all your questions.

Just in the past 20 years, braces have dramatically changed. Doctor Issa has worked furiously to stay at the top of the braces game to ensure the best and more efficient results for patients. Comfort and speed are two factors that contribute to their treatment program. You can choose from either metal or clear braces, depending on your taste and lifestyle. You can even choose whether the braces will sit on the front of the backs of the teeth. The braces are made to incorporate both faster adjustments and smoother surfaces.

If you want a more discreet braces option, the lingual, or hidden, braces may be the right option for you. These braces are designed to attach to the insides of your teeth, keeping them hidden from view while they work to straighten your smile. They work just like traditional braces. They can be used for those with moderate or severe treatment, and they still straighten your teeth while being much more discreet than traditional braces. These braces are fixed to the teeth to remain in place until the treatment of the patient is done completely.

The Incognito brand provides a customized set of full braces for each patient that chooses this option. You get beautiful results, and the braces are easy to wear. If Invisalign isnt an option for your treatment, speak with your orthodontist about lingual braces.

We are proud to be a clinic that uses the SureSmile Technology. It uses a 3D modeling along with robotics to help produce the most customized archwires. The technology creates a more accurate treatment than in previous years, and it is much faster than other, more traditional methods. There is much less fine-tuning involved in the later months of your treatment with this technology, and you might just finish your treatment earlier than predicted.

One independent study has found that the patients who have been treated with the SureSmile Technology have experienced a more reduced treatment time than traditional methods. They have even seen better quality from the precision and higher quality results.

Once orthodontic treatment has been completed, the use of retainers is a very important part of the continuing maintenance of teeth and will go a long way toward keeping the same bite and smile that the braces formed over the previous few years.
