We have two offices conveniently located in San Diego, California. Our East office is located just off of I-8, east of San Diego State University. Our coastal office is located east of I-5 near Mission Bay Park. Inspired by minimalism, Dr. Koshgerian designed our office interiors with patient comfort in mind. Crisp white walls and abundant leather and walnut seating invite patients to lounge in style. Dr. Koshgerian takes a straightforward approach to care: treat every patient with respect, compassion, and dignity. Dr. Koshgerian is passionate about maintaining an oral surgery practice centered around a patients well-being. He strives to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe while improving their oral health.
Dr. Koshgerian began his formal education at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. After working as a surgical assistant for the surgeon who removed his wisdom teeth and inspired by the specialtys unique hybrid of dentistry and medicine, he set out on the path to become an oral and maxillofacial surgeon himself.
Graduating first in his class from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, Dr. Koshgerian earned acceptance into the prestigious oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the University of Louisville and its associated hospitals. Dr. Koshgerian earned his MD in 2012 and completed his general surgery training and specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2015. Once his residency was completed, Dr. Koshgerian continued his pursuit of knowledge and surgical skill in Los Angeles at Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Koshgerian is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). In order to achieve this certification status, Dr. Koshgerian had to undergo a rigorous peer evaluation process and demonstrate the requisite training, knowledge, and experience in the field.
When Dr. Koshgerian isnt treating his patients, he enjoys the beauty of the local beaches, new culinary experiences, and keeping fit by running in the magnificent weather and sunshine of San Diego. He has also performed oral surgery at a dental community clinic for the underserved through UCSD.
As a board-certified oral surgeon, Dr. Shelton delivers exemplary care to his patients. As a nervous patient himself, Dr. Shelton always takes the time to communicate clearly with his patients and make sure they feel at ease throughout every stage of treatment at The Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Specialists of San Diego.
Dr. Sheltons path to becoming an oral and maxillofacial surgeon began in his teens, when he was given the opportunity to work in his brother-in-laws orthodontic practice. This inspired him to pursue the dentistry field. After his second year of dental school, Dr. Shelton went to Belize on a mission trip, where he performed various types of oral surgery. It was on that trip that Dr. Shelton discovered his calling to become an oral surgeon. He feels privileged to improve his patients oral health and self-confidence. Dr. Sheltons personal goal is to do whatever it takes to create a calm, caring environment for his patients.
Dr. Shelton attended the University of Louisville, earning a degree in biology in 2012. He continued at the University of Louisville to complete both dental school and medical school, graduating in 2015. He decided to pursue the OMS specialty and went on to complete a hands-on, hospital-based residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Shelton completed the respected oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the University of Louisville in 2018, where he focused on dentoalveolar surgery, hard and soft tissue regeneration, and complex dental implant therapy. It was during Dr. Sheltons residency that he met Dr. Koshgerian, and he decided to join him in private practice.
Dr. Shelton is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). In order to achieve this certification status, Dr. Shelton had to undergo a rigorous peer evaluation process and demonstrate the requisite skills, knowledge, and training in the field. He has completed all of the required steps to be fully Stemodontics-certified and is proud to offer the potentially life-saving stem cell banking service to all of his patients.
Dr. Shelton has a passion for service, and it is important to him to be a part of the local community any way he can, particularly via the church. He enjoys the beautiful San Diego surroundings and takes every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with his wife and fur babies, as well as going indoor rock climbing, taking spin classes, and trying out great restaurants.

I can only say this was a great experience having a Straumann implant placed by Dr. Koshgerian. He explained the process and my implant was completed in 20 minutes. I had no pains after that. He is an amazing doctor and Straumann implant is indeed the best on the market. I am glad I did this.

My boy/ girl twin 18 year olds got their wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Jonathan Shelton. He was a great mix of professional with a fun sense of humor that appealed to my teens. The surgery and recovery went amazing. All the staff were incredibly kind and detail oriented. I highly recommend this top notch practice.

Getting a dental implant was not something I was looking forward to, but when I cracked my crown, Dr. Shelton & his wonderful staff made the experience so much easier for me. His staff is organized & always on time or ahead of schedule. He's so knowledgeable & talented - I had no pain at all after the extraction & the placement. Best oral surgeon ever!!!!

Had the best experience! Was very nervous going into my wisdom teeth appointment, but everyone (from the admin staff to the medical staff) made sure I was safe and reassured about the procedure! They answered all my questions and were very patient and understanding with all my needs.

From the initial consultation to my two week post-op check in, the entire staff was amazing. I am terrified of dentists and dental procedures but from the initial meeting, I had the utmost confidence in my care. The staff and procedures are incredibly thorough and organized. They answered all of my questions, had an open phone line in case I had anymore questions, and even had informative videos and documents pre and post-op for the patient and their caretaker. I would recommend everyone to go here as they are incredibly upfront with cost and care instructions. I felt comfortable getting recommendations from both of the doctors as well as their whole staff. If I could come here for every procedure or even annual cleanings, I would.

Oral surgery can be very difficult and very stressful but my experience was made to be as easy and relaxed as it could possibly be. Dr Koshgerian is a wonderful doctor. He truly showed that he cares about his patients. He takes the time to explain procedures and to go over your history so he knows about you which made me very comfortable. He has a delightful and easy going personality which made it so much easier to ask my questions and feel comfortable with the answers. My procedure went well and all the follow up directions were easy to follow. It was comforting to know if I had any questions or concerns afterwards I could call. All of the staff that I had contact with were very pleasant and professional which I so appreciated.

It was tooth extraction. The removal was quick and painless. I was out in less than 20 minutes. Follow up care was very effective without any complications. I would strongly recommend the Oral surgery office.

I needed to have a wisdom tooth extracted. My experience with Dr. Koshgerian and his staff was excellent! I was well guided throughout the procedure and my questions and concerns were addressed clearly and quickly. I had a tight window of time to get my tooth extracted and they were able to accommodate my request. I would recommend Dr. Koshgerian!

This was the second oral surgery I've had with Dr. Koshgerian. This is such a well run office and the patient experience is taken very seriously. From initial check in, consultation, staff interaction, follow up and top notch care from Dr. Koshgerian and discharge follow up, my experience was outstanding. I've recommended this practice to others. Nobody wants to come have dental work done, but if you need to, why not go to a practice where patient care and experience is high caliber.

I am the epitome of dental nightmares, so I was extremely skeptical and nervous about my consultation for my wisdom tooth removal at this facility. But, Dr. Koshgerian and his staff made this a 10/10 experience. Everyone was kind and welcoming, but above all, Dr. Koshgerian was extremely straightforward and gave the entire run down of the removal and healing process. I knew exactly what to expect and it really calmed my nerves. Not to mention my surgical areas healed perfectly! No complications nor dry sockets in sight.

The Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Specialists of San Diego are excellent. They are kind, caring, compassionate, and empathetic. All of the staff are very professional with excellent communication skills.Billing is very straight forward with no surprises. The surgeons are of the absolute highest caliber in every way. After a life long battle with density I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel very fortunate for having found The Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Specialist of San Diego.
