Dr. Scott Thames established the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center in Laurel upon completion of his training in 1984. Dr. Clay Thames joined his brother in practice by opening the Hattiesburg clinic in 1995. Following the retirement of Dr. Scott Thames, Dr. Darren Alexander joined the practice in 2018.

Dr. Clay Thames has been in private practice since 1995 when he joined his brother, Dr. Scott Thames, with The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center. He is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi and Louisiana State University, School of Dentistry. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery internship and residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He maintains privileges at Forrest General Hospital, Merit Health Wesley, and South Central Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Darren Alexander was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He received his degree in Biology from the University of Mississippi before graduating at the top of his dental school class at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After dental school, Dr. Alexander completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Idaho State University and then returned home to Mississippi to practice general dentistry.

Upon making the decision to specialize in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Alexander completed his residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he served as chief resident during his final year.
