At the kids place, Pediatric Dentistry and Early Orthodontics, Dr. Michael Wilkerson and his team love helping young patients develop optimal dental health and beautiful smiles that will last a life time. Dr. Wilkerson supports the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and the American Dental Association (ADA) concept of a Dental Home the ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient, inclusive of all aspects of oral health care delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way.
Our Treatment PhilosophyWe focus on finding the root cause when dental issues arise, not just symptoms. In addition to prevention, we treat existing cavities, restoring diseased teeth back to health. At you regular visits, we monitor dental eruption and guide erupting teeth to their normal position, by interceptive orthodontic techniques. We will also look for concerns that affect oral and facial development in a negative way, and redirect the growth back toward normal by addressing and treating the cause.
In addition to pediatric dental care, we offer early orthodontic treatment, assessment of facial growth and facial aesthetics, and evaluation of tongue and oral muscle function, with a focus on airway and proper nasal breathing. Correct nasal breathing along with correct oral muscle function, leads to healthier children, straighter teeth, beautiful smiles, and attractive faces.

Every one of my team members loves working with kids! In fact, they wouldnt work here if they didnt! They are dedicated to providing a great patient experience. They love talking with the kids and explaining things in kid-friendly terms so it does not cause anxiety or fear. Our goal is to develop a long-lasting relationship with the children and their parents to educate and create life-long, positive dental habits.
Learning is a lifelong commitment that I do for myself and for my patients. Competence, skill, and efficient and effective treatment, as well as positive outcomes, are all generated from continuing education. Staying abreast of the current advances in technology in clinical, administrative, and digital dentistry helps improve the services I provide for the benefit of my patients.
I attend continuing education pertaining to pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, early interceptive orthodontics, and pediatric sleep medicine on a regular basis. Additionally, I have taught a yearly early orthodontic treatment course since 2013. Dentists nationwide, as well as from Canada, have attended this course. I am also a Senior Certified Instructor for theAcademy of Gp Orthodontics. I have a patent for the Molar Tube Lock.

We love Dr. Wilkerson and his staff. They are great with my kids and have created a very calm and relaxing environment for them. We had an emergency situation yesterday so I called immediately and they were able to get my daughter in and help her. We will continue to recommend their office to others!

This is the only dentist that my kids love. Ive never heard of kids loving dentists....but the kids get excited even when we pass the business. Dr. Wilkerson is amazing.

All I can say is...WOW! Lacy was amazing. My kids generally dread routine check ups due to some previous negative experiences with other dentists. Lacy was patient, kind, and absolutely terrific about explaining procedures and answering questions. Both my girls firmly stated that they only want to see Lacy going forward! (We had pretty good check ups so we didn't see Dr. Wilkerson for long--I'm sure he's great too!)

If I could give 10 stars I would! Dr. Wilkerson is a very caring, compassionate, highly skilled dentist! His son who assisted him and the anesthesiologist who came to help my daughter during her dental procedure are nothing short of incredible! I felt comfortable with my daughter in their hands! The thing that set them apart from other dentists is their compassion for children! Understanding that my daughter needed a lot of work, Dr. Wilkerson went above and beyond to get her scheduled and even came in on a day off to complete her procedure. My daughter has special needs and we have searched high and low for a dentist who checks all the boxes when it comes to my child's care. Dr. Wilkerson is IT! Highly recommend! This place is a diamond in Boerne! Thank you Dr. Wilkerson and staff- y'all are THE best!!!

My 1 year old and 3 year old girls had their first appointments with Dr. Wilkerson today. From the moment we walked in, I knew it was going to be a good experience for my girls. The staff was so kind & gave thorough explanations of what they were doing. It was so nice to not feel like we were patients on a to do list. We felt seen and heard. Dr. Wilkerson spoke with me for about 30 minutes about my questions/concerns! We can't wait for our next appointment!

First of all it is the most adorable kid's dentistry ever. It's pig themed and is so hygienicThe staff is super friendly and helpful.And lastly, they have amazing membership programs to help pay for their services which is great.

So happy to have found The Kids Place! Everyone is super nice and Dr. Wilkerson is very knowledgeable and good with my kids. My kids had to have crowns/fillings and it went very smoothly. You can tell they love their jobs!

I'm so thankful for the kind and gentle staff at the kids place. They go above and beyond for children and parents alike. My daughter had a tooth pulled today and it was such an easy experience. She was so scared and they did such a good job calming her nerves. Plus, free coffee and massage chairs!

Dr. Wilkerson and his entire staff are awesome with the kids! Both of my kids look forward to going to the dentist. The office is super clean and decorated really nice. My son is getting braces and it has been a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend The Kid's Place!

For starters the building is amazing. The very clean waiting room has some great things to entertain kids while they wait. Even i enjoyed playing Pac Man with my daughter. The staff is very friendly. Dr. Wilkerson is the BEST! He is great with my daughter, informative and gets you in and out. If you're looking for a place, look no further.

Wonderful experience! My 6 year old son needed his teeth cleaned and he also had two baby teeth that were still in place where the two adult teeth were already emerging. Dr. Wilkerson extracted them and my som was not afraid or in any pain. Dr. Wilkerson then followed up later that evening my phone to make sure he was doing ok! Not many doctors take the time to do that! We also took our 4 1/2 year old to have her teeth cleaned and X-rays as well. The staff was amazing and made her feel at ease as well as Dr. Wilkerson. She had a wonderful experience. Cannot say enough about this place!

My girls 4&5, just finished their first appointment with Dr. Wilkerson and want to go back again tomorrow. Dr. Wilkerson and his staff Lacey and Rosio were so friendly and kind, my girls loved them. They were also very thorough and explained everything they were during and made my girls feel super comfortable. We totally recommend them for your pediatrics dentist needs.

We love Dr. Wilkerson & the staff. Such a warm & friendly dentist office. They're always happy to see you, it's very personal and I can't imagine going anywhere else. While my child may hate it now (She doesn't like to be messed with LOL, she's 2) I have peace of mind that her teeth are being taken care of by a great dentist & his staff. She'll come to love it too :)

I am obsessed. Keeping my daughters experiences at the dentist are so important to me & this place has kept that for her! We love it so much we drove almost Two hours just for her to be seen here. I couldn't ask for a better place to take care of my daughter & her teeth!

We love this dentist office! Dr. Wilkerson is very knowledgeable and takes his time with both parents and the kids. He seems to be conservative with treatment plans and takes a lot into consideration on whether it's a baby tooth or permanent tooth, current age, overall cost for the treatment plan, and how things may affect their teeth alignment as they mature. He is good about going through various options and their pros and cons with the parent. The office and lobby are super inviting and look like you walked into a Disney Pixar Studio off Main Street! There are TVs above the chairs that the kids get to watch movies while they have work done too. The staff is all super friendly as well and are wonderful with kids to make them feel at ease without Mom or Dad having to do it. We had some work done today on our daughter and Dr. Wilkerson called to personally check on her afterwards. That blew us away! Our kids look forward to going each time so we give this office 2 thumbs up!
