Dr. Zach McMaster grew up right here in San Marcos, California. As a third-generation dentist, he has always had an interest and love for the field of dentistry. After graduating from Mission Hills High School, he attended Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. He then attended University of Maryland School of Dentistry where he finished in the top quintile of his class. Dr. McMaster received many honors during school, including admittance into the Gorgas Odontological Honor Society, Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, and the highly competitive Oral Surgery Clerkship. He was also awarded the prestigious Leonard Rapoport Memorial Prize granted to one senior student who demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in pharmacology related to oral science.
Dr. McMaster has been married to his wife, Chaille, for 6 years. They have two children, Chase (4) and Kate (2). His hobbies include weightlifting, hiking, wakeboarding, and camping with his family. Dr. McMaster is committed to providing his patients with an ethical and personal approach while continuing to learn and stay updated with the latest trends in dentistry.

I moved here from Seattle in 2013 and am enjoying this beautiful sunny state of California. I love the outdoors, exercising, playing tennis and going to the beach. I also enjoy playing the piano and cooking. I live in Carlsbad and have 2 grown and amazing children.
Born and raised in North San Diego County, I started my dental career in 2003 as a Registered Dental Assistant. I continued my education and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2009. My passion for a holistic, integrative approach has lead me to become an Orofacial Myologist and educating patients on how orofacial structures relate to airway health. I am passionate about the oral and systemic connection, keeping up to date with the latest research and comprehensive approach to overall wellness. Outside of the dental setting, I run my virtual Orofacial Myology practice, volunteer with animal rescues, hike with my dogs and spend time with my husband and family.
I was born in Denver Colorado (go Broncos!), grew up in Lompoc California, and moved to San Diego to pursue my dental career. After 4 years working as a Registered Dental Assistant with an emphasis in front office management, I went back to school, and achieved my Registered Dental Hygiene license in 2017. Since then, I have fostered a passion for the Dental Hygiene profession, and love educating the public on dental health. I strive to stay current with the most recent and accurate research to provide the highest standard of care for my patients health and wellbeing. I enjoy spending time with my husband, friends, and family. Also, staying active, snowboarding, and exploring San Diegos beautiful beaches.
Charlene has been with our team at The Hills Family Dentistry for 5 years but her journey in the dental field started before that. Charlene graduated from the USC School of Dental Hygiene in 1993. She worked in L.A. for about 17 years doing both Periodontal Hygiene and General Dental Hygiene. Charlene moved to San Diego in 2010 with her husband and 3 kids and lots of chickens. On her days off, Charlene enjoys gardening and raising chickens.
Carlo has been in the Dental Field since 2000. He graduated from Dental Tech School in 1996, which is the same year he moved to San Diego from Brawley. His tech experience gives him the knowledge and skills to create the best fabricated teeth for our patients. He has been with The Hills Family Team since 2012. In his spare time he likes to ride his bike and enjoy the outdoors.

We've been going to The Hills Family Dentistry for over 10 years now. The clinical team is wonderful and they get 5 stars. The 3 star rating goes to the front office staff. For the last two years our routine dental cleaning appointments (every 6 months) have been rescheduled without our notification. We have learned of these appointment changes just a few days prior to our appointment, which is frustrating when you schedule 6 months in advance and then maneuver the rest of your life around your dental cleaning appointment. My patience is wearing thin. If the clinical staff weren't so great we'd be going to the dentist across the street.

I'm 71 years old. I've been to many dentists over the years. Tamara is the best Dental Hygienist I've ever had, hands down. She is super nice and makes you feel so comfortable while she's working on you. I highly recommend her.

Wonderful and friendly office atmosphere and Peggy at front desk was super helpful. It was actually "fun" to chat with Dr Martin and Carlo during my exam. Dr Martin is a hoot - friendly, caring and funny! I appreciated how he patiently educated me about the different problems he saw, but also didn't use panic or pressure. He came up with a treatment plan just for me, and as a self-pay, I will work through it at my pace. Carlo was great with X-rays, very good at communicating each step of the way. It feels good to take care of my teeth and start getting my treatment "checked off my list". I'm glad I found Dr Martin and The Hills Family Dentistry to get me started!
