Dr. John received a bachelors degree in biology from Marquette University in 1986, then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette, top of his class, in 1989. He received advanced training in orthodontics, neuromuscular dentistry and implantology. He has completed community service as a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church Knights of Columbus. He is proud to be a part of the following organizations:
His top priority is helping his patients obtain excellent dental care. He loves seeing his patients smiles, knowing that he has helped improve their lives, comfort and confidence. He works hard to build relationships with patients and treat patients the way he would want to be treated. He continues to advance his own skills through continuing education and utilizing advanced technologies.
Dr. John has been married to our wonderful Mary Ann for over 33 years, and they have six children together, and one dog, Bella. When he is not improving patient smiles, Dr. John enjoys spending time with family, gardening, photography and stamp collecting.
Peter joined our team in September 2017. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He enjoys being able to help people receive great care, and he loves seeing people leave happy. He works hard to make sure the office is running smoothly and makes sure we are maximizing insurance benefits.
Mary has been with our practice since the beginning! Being married to Dr. John, she has been with him every step of the way through dental school and growing the practice. For her, being here now gives her a sense of accomplishment and the full realization of a dream. She and Dr. John included their children in the life of the practice, truly making it a family business.
Mary tries to perform all her duties thoroughly with honesty and accuracy to ensure the practice can continue to thrive and grow. She and Dr. John have six wonderful children. Outside of the office, Mary enjoys walking, gardening, reading and getting back into sewing and needlework.
Khali is one of the first smiling faces our patients see when they come into The Grove Family Dental and TMJ Clinic. Khali has an associate degree and has been with our team since May of 2018. She works hard to give our patients a good experience from the moment they call or walk in to the moment they leave. Khali has had TMJ and orthodontic treatments done at our office, so she personally knows how our dental work can help improve your life. She loves how our team is like a family and that we all want the best for our patients and each other.
Khali has a loving husband and a house full of pets: two dogs, three cats and a gecko! She enjoys doing outdoor activities with her family, friends and pets. She also likes crafting, cooking and traveling.
Becky started out in the dental field as an assistant and worked for six years before going back to school at Madison College to become a hygienist. She has been with our team since 2015, and we are grateful to have her experience on the team. She loves the family atmosphere we have and how we love our patients; getting to know them and their families is one of her highlights of working here. She also loves the new tech Dr. John brings in to keep our practice on the cutting edge.
Becky and her husband, Adrian, have two daughters, Emma and Addisyn, and two dogs, Bella and Rosie. Becky loves spending time with her family and friends, floating in the pool and going up north to their family cabin.
Leah has been a part of our practice since 2017. She earned her associate degree in dental hygiene from Waukesha County Technical College in 1998. Having been a hygienist for more than 22 years, Leah is the team member with wisdom and experience! She loves her flexible schedule and working with state-of-the-art technology and a great boss and coworkers
Kierstin studied dental assisting in Madison and earned her certificate in 2013. She joined the The Grove Family Dental and TMJ Clinic team in March 2020. She loves working here because we use advanced dental technology to continuously provide our patients with the best dental care possible. Kierstin is very close with her family and spends a lot of her spare time with them. She also loves the outdoors and going to concerts. Kierstin has two cats: Ellie and Louis.
Madison is a graduate of the Blackhawk dental assistant program and has been with our team since 2020. She loves being part of a team that shares a common goal and works together to meet that goal. She brings a positive attitude and ambition to achieve help the practice be the best it can be through teamwork and quality patient care.

Refused to see me while I was in pain with cemented wire protruding from my teeth. Do not go here if you are in an emergency or serious situation you can not trust this dentist. I am not a hater this is real. Maybe just go for the simple things that are listed. But if you have serious needs see someone else. For your own good this was a horrible experience. He has no ability to make accomodations quickly and if you are in pain they perceive you as having a bad attitude. I would avoid this place unless it is simple and non emergency. This is a real review I live in this town and grew up with his son Peter. The way the receptionist and Dr responded actually lowered my faith in humanity it was this bad. I question his integrity as man. They have no ability to respond on short notice and have proven this. Be careful if you think you may end up in an emergency situation. You may end up like me with blood in your mouth and nobody to help you. And to be brutally honest. If you can't trust someone in an emergency situation what should you trust them for anyways. That's when you need it the most. This doctor completely failed me.

From making the initial appointment to arriving early for my appointment and getting into the seat early it was an easy process and good experience for someone who has struggled with Dentist anxiety from a young age. Dr. John was thorough and everything was well explained on the next steps to improving my dental health. I would recommend Dr. John to anyone who is looking for a new Dentist or a second opinion. I didn't feel rushed or pressured like I have felt with previous offices that are ran more like a corporation than your local old fashioned neighborhood Dental office that treats you like a patient and not a number. Thanks again to the staff for making my visit stress and anxiety free.

The Grove Dentistry provided me with excellent care. Dr. John is knowledgeable, caring, and has patience. His office is clean and organized. His staff is friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend his practice.

Not ever having had a tooth extraction I was waiting for the pliers to come out with Dr. John kneeling on my chest. I was happily surprised - it was quite uneventful with none of those gymnastics! No fear here!

Every time I visit the Grove Family Dental Clinic I have an excellent experience beginning with the friendly care of the entire staff. Gone are the days of pain and fear of the dentist. I actually look forward to my visits and know that my oral health is very well taken care of.

As usual the dental hygienist, Becky, did a fabulous job cleaning my teeth. Safety is a big priority with dr John during COVID and always. We had a tornado alarm sounding during my cleaning so we all headed downstairs. I was offered a chair, water and good conversation. Felt like part of the family.

If you are afraid of needles or hate being all numbed up this is the place for you! He has a special drill that makes tooth repair completely painless without numbing. And the staff is amazing!

To have my crown completed during a single visit was a welcome surprise. A previous root canal failed after several decades of use and so after the tooth was removed I elected to have a dental implant. Several months elapsed from the initiation of the process but the finale was completed in a single visit thanks to Dr. Grernetzke forming my crown during my single visit. I'm not hoping for another implant and crown, but if one is needed I can face it with confidence. Thanks Dr. John & staff.

Everyone is amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly. The TVs in the exam room make it a more relaxing experiences. Becky is an amazing hygienist, and is very good with my four-year-old. I would highly recommend them.
