Dr. Bill Dischinger began his orthodontic career in 1999, joining his fathers practice. They worked side by side until 2015 when Dr. Terry Dischinger retired from active practice. Working together was the fulfillment of a life long dream for both Dr. Bill and Dr. Terry. They learned and perfected their art of orthodontics together and this only strengthened their bond as father and son. Dr. Bill would love it if one of his four boys decided to pursue the same career some day.
Dr. Bill grew up in Lake Oswego and graduated from Lake Oswego High School where he played football, basketball and golf. More importantly though, he met his wife Kari Lynn there as well. Following high school, Dr. Bill attended Oregon State University for his undergraduate studies and continued to the Oregon Health & Science University where he earned his DMD in 1997. His certificate in orthodontics was earned in 1999 at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.
As was mentioned above, Dr. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Kari Lynn Hayes. Kari Lynn is certified as a neonatal intensive care nurse and takes care of their family. They are the proud parents of four boys: Taylor, Turner, and their twins, Trey and Tristan. Dr. Bill and his wife enjoy long walks together, traveling to new and exciting places, and trying new restaurants. He is an avid golfer although doesnt play much nowadays. However, spending time with his family is his number one hobby. Dr. Bill has many interests and hobbies outside of the practice including activities within his church, family time, and spending as much time as possible with his four sons.
Dr. Bill has been recognized by his peers as an expert in the specialty of orthodontics. He has lectured literally all over the world, having given over 100 lectures teaching on a variety of orthodontic subjects. He has many published articles and has even written a book on orthodontics that has been published.
Dr. Sara Edmondson received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree at Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2018 and earned her Master of Dental Science and certificate of advanced training in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2021.
Dr. Sara is a board-certified orthodontist and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is a board member for the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists and an active member of a variety of dental and orthodontic professional associations. While Dr. Sara has a solid foundation in orthodontics, she regularly attends continuing education courses on the state, regional and national levels to stay current on the advances in the field. Dr. Sara has a true passion for orthodontics. Dr. Saras goal is to provide the highest quality orthodontic treatment while developing meaningful, long lasting relationships with her patients. She considers it a true privilege to treat your smile.
Our services are provided by orthodontists.Orthodontists are dentists who, after finishing 4 years of dental school, then went to orthodontic school for another 3 years for extensive training with braces, Invisalign, expanders, bite correction appliances, etc. The only thing our doctors do all day, every day is straighten teeth! Our orthodontists will straighten teeth on hundreds of patients per year and thousands of patients in their lifetime.
On the contrary, most general dentists dont do any orthodontics. The few that do treat only a handful of cases per year, and usually these cases are very simple cases (ie. retreatment of a patient who previously had braces but stopped wearing their retainers and teeth shifted slightly).
Each member of our staff is highly trained with specialized education. The clinical staff is specifically trained in orthodontics and is certified by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry. Staff members receive continuing education to update knowledge and techniques, and their performance is in accordance with the standards set by the Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners.

Dr. Saras orthodontic career began in the seventh grade, with a young aspiration to become a dentist. She spent many hours in the dental chair and loved being in the office and learning about all things teeth. In high school and college, she shadowed dental professionals and worked in an orthodontic office. This was when her love for orthodontics began.
Suzi has been with The Dischinger Team since 2001. She is married to Michael, who is a Pastor in Canby. They have two married children, Heather and her husband Matt, Spenser and his wife McKenzie. She also has little grandson Levi and fresh baby who will arrive September of 2022! Suzi enjoys traveling, especially Disney, Hawaii and Mexico!
Erin has enjoyed working for our Dischinger Team for the past few years.When she is not creating solutions as our Social Media Manager, you will find her cheering on one of her four kids (who keep her VERY busy) on the softball or football fields, volleyball courts or at a track meet.Whenever she does get a break, you just might find her on a date with her best friend & husband, Jeff, enjoying a quiet happy hour.
Carrie has worked for Dischinger Orthodontics since 1988. The first 10 years she was an assistant in the clinic and is now the Front Office Coordinator. She enjoys walking, snowshoeing, reading, gardening and spending time with her two grown sons Michael and Dylan.
Leah has been working in the dental field since July, 2012 and is enjoying every second.When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and watching OSU football and baseball.
Amanda has worked in the orthodontic field for 10 years. She is excited to build relationships with our patients and their families. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her 4 kids and traveling around the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Brenda has been in the dental field for 19 years, 8 years in orthodontics. She enjoys getting to know people and volunteers within the community. She has three kids who are active in baseball, football and softball which keeps her very busy. Her family loves going camping and fishing. Brenda loves being a cheer Mom and enjoys being artistic.
McKenna started at Dischinger Orthodontics right out of dental assisting school in 2016. In her free time, she loves to ride dirt bikes, camp, hike and any activity that takes her to the great outdoors. McKennas favorite super hero is Wonder Woman!
Reanne has been a part of the Dischinger Team since 2007. She feels fortunate to be able to work part-time and be home with her 2 kids on her days off. She loves camping, sports, going to the beach and just spending time with her family.
During thenext30 minutes you will meet our orthodontist and have a 1-on-1 discussion with our treatment coordinatorabout possible orthodontic treatments. During this time, you will havethe opportunity to discuss any orthodontic and dental problems you may be concerned about.
The cost of your treatment will vary depending on your specific dental requirements. Once we complete a new patient exam and create a treatment plan for you, you will meet with a treatment coordinator to discuss the costs and payment plans available to you. We will work with you to create a payment plan that is tailored to your needs and budget.
If you are in need of treatment, an orthodontist will recommend an appliance specific to your dental needs. Some of the treatment options available include: traditional braces, clear braces and Invisalign.
Brush your teeth by using a regular soft toothbrush. Brush down from the top and then up from the bottom on each tooth; always brushing away from your gums. Use a gentle sawing motion to work the floss on each side of the two teeth the floss is between. Be careful not to pull with too much force around the archwire.
That varies per patient but there is new technology that uses memory shape, heat activated wires that work without needing painful adjustments, decreasing the amount of office visits necessary to complete treatment. The average time between visits can range from 6-8 weeks. As you come close to finishing treatment, the doctor may want to see you more often, typically between 4-6 weeks during your last few months, to fine tune your final tooth movements.

Dr. Bill and his team have been so patient with us. My son is just 8 and we are in process. Dr. Bill's priority to avoid pulling teeth I appreciate so much. We were hesitant and Dr. Bill was patient and went above and beyond to talk to us and make sure we understood what we were looking at. So far so good my son has done well with the expander and based off of their way of doing things I expect the next stage to be just as smooth. They are all super kind, direct and honest, and patient and informed.

Everyone was so kind and welcoming. The price was comparable to other places we had consults, but the service is next level. My daughter was so thrilled about getting her braces. They make it so fun for kids AND for adults too! I enjoyed a Perrier while having a parrafin hand dip and sitting in a massage chair. Doesn't get much better than that!

We are new to seeing Dr.Bill and his team. Our daughter is 4.5 yrs old, but the speech therapist was concerned about her airway. Dr. Bill addressed our concerns and how to best handle the situation. We are starting treatment now with a plan for the future. The staff are wonderful. I had to make an extra trip out due to an error on their part and they gave me a fuel card for the hassel. I was blown away! They really go above and beyond.

We went for my daughters appointment yesterday, I had called ahead because one of her brackets was loose and came off. Their team walked her through every step and made sure she knew what was going on. They had to put new wires and do something different to her top 4 teeth with an additional wire. They made sure she was comfortable, she loves going there!

My treatment at Dischinger just began a few days ago but I have had nothing but great experiences so far! The free consultation really helped put my mind at ease, everyone was super friendly and thorough throughout the whole process, I left feeling informed and excited! Getting my braces put on was easy and pain free and I'm on my way to a perfect smile. The whole office has a great atmosphere and they really go above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable. Everyone I have spoken to is happy and has said they absolutely love their job there which I think is super valuable. You want happy people working in your mouth! I had initially set up an appointment with another ortho but didn't feel good about it so i last minute booked an appointment at Dischinger and AM SO GLAD I did! I highly recommend this place to anyone

I must say that my experience with the Dischinger team from the very beginning has been nothing less than spectacular. At my age, with me being a little long in the tooth, (no pun intended), I was skeptical when I was asked to consider orthodontics to straighten my teeth and improve my smile. Dr. Bill and his wonderful team have been a wonderful resource. From the very start, when I began researching the methods, costs, and benefits of orthodontics, the idea of taking on this long term commitment seemed a bit overwhelming. However, I have an expert team in my corner, who provides skill, talent, support, and a path to the better smile that I have always dreamed of. I haven't completed my journey as yet, but even now, I smile with more confidence, like I never have before. Thanks to all of you!

Honestly, I can't sing their praises enough! Bill and his team took care of all my three kids, and when that was done- I decided that I wanted braces myself! The care my family received was not only the very best as far as orthodontia practice and cutting edge technology, but the integrity, honesty and love we all felt was truly phenomenal. I tell anyone who will listen to run not walk to Dischinger if they need braces. Kids and adults alike! (And what could be better than sitting in their massage chairs drinking a cup of their delicious coffee)
