This means that Dr. Royse completed an additional two years of advanced training after their formal dental schooling that focuses specifically on childrens dental care. They also needed to pass a comprehensive and stringent certification process to prove their knowledge on all topics tied to pediatric dentistry. This includes subjects like the development of the teeth and jaws, managing child behavior during visits, and pediatric dental surgery, to name a few.

Dr. Michael Royse is a native of Beaverton, Oregon. A product of Aloha High School and the University of Oregon, he graduated with honors from The Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry in 1987. After dental school, Dr. Royse served as a dental officer with the United States Navy. During his 11 years of military service, he completed a General Practice Residency at Naval Hospital, Oakland, California. Dr. Royse then completed his residency in pediatric dentistry, graduating from the Fort George G. Meade DENTAC Pediatric Dentistry Residency in 1995. He later went on to serve as the Head of Pediatric Dentistry at the United States Naval Dental Center, Naples, Italy from 1995 to 1998.
Returning home, Dr. Royse opened his private practice in downtown Portland, where he practiced for over 18 years. Looking for a change of pace, he is joining our practice where he can focus solely on providing quality, caring dentistry to the pediatric population.
Dr. Royse is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He resides in Sherwood with his wife Wendy. They enjoy travel, hiking, fitness, gardening and cooking together. He has two grown children, whose careers as an attorney and a dentist have taken them out of the state.
Dr. Royse is a published research author and recipient of awards from the American Society of Dentistry for Children and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry for both clinical and academic recognition. He remains active in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps as a reserve officer.
Dr. Malinda Kearbey also earned her bachelor of science in bioengineering from Walla Walla University, and went on to earn her doctor of dental surgery at Loma Linda University. Dr. Malinda Kearbey worked in a family dental practice for five years following her doctoral studies, and at a childrens clinic for two years. She loves having the opportunity to help young people achieve and maintain their healthiest smiles.
Drs. Malinda and Brandon Kearbey live in Hillsboro with their two daughters. When she has spare time, Dr. Malinda Kearbey enjoys playing piano, golfing, and spending time with her family, which she considers the best hobby of all.

Dr. Royse and his team were amazing! My 4 year old had surgery earlier this year and it was a very traumatic experience. So naturally I was worried that it would impact the ability to do any procedures in the future. His team was so kind, patient, and efficient. My son did such a great job and It was definitely due to the quality care this office provides! I highly recommend Dr. Royse for any dental care your children need.

The team here is amazing! My daughter has dental anxiety and wouldn't wiggle a baby tooth out on her own and they helped make the process of removing it a positive experience for her. Dr Royse is very gentle and kind with his patients. He has helped my older son feel confident and look forward to dental visits. The team is helpful, professional, engaging and sincere. They have fun toys in the reception area and great prizes for after visits. The office is always clean. My kids love it here!

If our visit had ended after the hygienists cleaned my kiddos' teeth, this would be a five star review. The ladies in the office are kind and gentle and great with kids. One child has a sensitive gag reflex and they handled it carefully and let him take breaks while getting x-rays so it wouldn't get too uncomfortable for him. The other is anxious at the dentist and they were so patient with her as they cleaned her teeth. Unfortunately, once Dr. Royse was part of the visit, none of us were happy. He wanted to redo an xray and instead of taking the piece out of his mouth when my son started gagging, he held it in. My 4 year old threw up a some, and Dr. Royse told him to just swallow it. He came to my 5 year old then, who'd just heard her sibling throwing up and has had previous dental trauma that leaves her anxious, and when she panicked and tried to sit up when getting her x-ray, Dr. Royse grabbed her by the head and forcefully pulled her back onto the chair, wrestling her into place, which only caused more panic. When discussing this with other parents who send their kids here, more than one agreed that Dr. Royse isn't overly-friendly or gentle and welcoming to kids, which is something I had come to expect from pediatric dentists. If your kid doesn't need that as part of their dental experience, this office is probably fine for you! But we'll be finding someone who can do dental care in a way that doesn't scare them for future visits.

The staff here are fantastic! They are so friendly and conscientious. The hygienists and dentist take the time to explain any procedures to my child, and they are incredibly patient. We have never felt rushed or ignored. My daughter actually looks forward to going to the dentist now!

We had a great experience here! The woman at the front desk was welcoming. She quickly added our insurance I just brought in that day. They took us back a few minutes early. The place is perfect for kids with street carpeting and fun painted rooms. The hygienist and doctor were patient and thorough. My son loved getting his prize at the end.

This is the most wonderful pediatric dentist! My kids love coming here, everyone is so kind and good with kids, even the more reluctant children. The staff is super knowledgeable and provides outstanding care. They build great relationships with their patients and have earned our trust. I can't recommend them enough.

We love the Dentist at Orenco Kids. Our 5 year old always looks forward to going to the dentist. He loves being able to watch a show while they clean his teeth. The staff is amazing! So patient and friendly. Today was our 2 year old's first trip to the dentist. He was excited because he knows his brother loves going. They were great with him! He was happy all throughout the exam and was excited to pick a prize after. I always recommend Dentist at Orenco Kids to friends. So happy we found them! Couldn't be happier!

Such a warm and inviting dentist for kids. My little one didn't love the actual cleaning, but she was happy before and after! Dr. Royse was wonderful and made the experience as best as possible. So lucky to have this office so close to us.

The environment was very kid friendly, the staff really knew how to work with kids and very clean! The hygienist was able to brush and floss my 3 year old daughters teeth, she was very patient but firm when needed so she could get the job done. Having a movie playing on the tv screen on the ceiling was a nice touch and distracted my daughter enough. It was a quick in and out and the prize wall had a ton of choices! Great place for a first visit!

As a local dental specialist myself, I know the dental community well. My wife and I brought our 2 and 4 year old here and were very impressed with the staff, the office and the doctor. My kids had so much fun playing in the waiting room that they did not want to leave. The office is very nice and modern and has so many things for the kids to feel engaged and not anxious. Dr Royse was fantastic and explained his exam findings well and what we should keep an eye on in the future.
