Dr. Timothy Garofolo has been practicing dentistry since 2002. He is proficient in nearly all aspects of dentistry including dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and root canal therapy. His former fear of dentistry has helped him create a peaceful environment and an enhanced chairside manner. Dr. Garofolo is Cerec, Galileos CT Scan, and Invisialign certified. He also received a fellowship with the International Association of Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Samir Merchant attended The Ohio State University and earned degrees in Biological Sciences and Spanish. Dr. Merchant went on to The Ohio State College of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He volunteered with the O.H.I.O. (Oral Health Improvement Outreach) Coach Bus, where he would serve the dental needs of local children alongside Pediatric Dentistry Residents. This experience molded the philanthropic views of dentistry that Dr. Merchant holds today. He owned three successful dental practices in Columbus, Ohio and, also served as an Adjunct Faculty Professor at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry from 2014-2018. After many years serving the Columbus community, Dr. Merchant, his wife Dr. Shbeena Shah, and their Boston Terrier, Tucker, decided it was time tofollow their dream of moving to beautiful San Diego. Dr. Merchant has an unmistakable desire to provide dental care of the highestquality to hispatients, while making sure they feel educated, comfortable, and at ease.
Barnaby is a certified Emotional Support Animal and delivers an extra level of comfort and love. The entire team at The Dentistry Collective are animal lovers and we make donations to the ASPCA and local Humane Societies on a monthly basis.
Ashlee brings over 14 years of dental front office experience to our team. Her knowledge of insurance and treatment coordination allows us to deliver utmost transparency to our guests, and ensures that we are maximizing insurance benefits to make dentistry as economically easy as possible.
Shiva sits as the Past President of the San Diego Hygienists Society. She obtained a Masters of Science in Dental Hygiene at UCSF. She makes sure that our preventive care department keeps your smiles healthy everlasting.
Michelle has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in Management and has a skillset that specializes in marketing. She creates and maintains relationships with businesses and organizations in our community so that we can bring our value and services to as many San Diegans as possible.

I came to this office and got a cleaning done. The hygienist Amal was super efficient and did a great job. I really liked liked the staff as well. Highly recommend coming here.

This is the best experience I have ever had at a dentist! Dr Davey was amazing and his staff was so amazing and kind. I usually hate the dentist but this was over and beyond and actually made me excited to come back and clean my teeth. Amazing and definitely worth going to if you are apprehensive:)

Shady and untrustworthy. I went in for 4 crowns and after getting xrays, cleaning, and bleaching, I was given a quote for 4 veneers (which my insurance doesn't cover). When I requested to be charged for crowns, I was falsely told that my Delta PPO doesn't cover crowns, even after giving them a document showing it's covered. The office manager admitted that I was given wrong information and apologized to me. I stuck it out with them because I liked the idea of getting the crowns done the same day. While we were discussing the shade of my teeth, the dentist and his office manager looked at each other and laughed at me a couple times because I didn't understand what he was saying. He then told me what color crown he was going to use, instead of letting me pick. I told him I wanted crowns because I didn't like how bulky my teeth are, and showed him a mold of my current teeth and one made to show how I wanted my teeth to look. He said that he didn't see a difference in the shape of old and new teeth, and that men are supposed to have bulkier teeth than women. Instead of giving me options or recommendations for the shape of the crowns, he said that he couldn't help me because I didn't describe what I don't like about the shape of my teeth. The dentist said that we weren't a good fit and that he didn't want to work with me anymore. I left his office feeling rejected and embarrassed.

Dr Garfolo was amazing, the best experience I've ever had at a dentist. He performed a root canal and a crown in one sitting, pain free, fast and a perfect fit. Brooke, his assistant was so good, knowledgeable, efficient and always a step ahead of Dr. You can't go wrong with this team.

I know Dr. G through Brazilian jiu jitsu and both my husband and I have been seeing him for years. My appointments are usually quick and I hardly ever have to wait long. The staff remembers my name and is extremely polite. The dental hygienists are helpful and understanding. 10 out of 10, I recommend this dental office.

The safeguards that the Dentistry Collective put in place and their communication with me before, during, and after my visit helped me feel very safe with going to the dentist. I am at higher risk than average for CoVid due to my age and my asthma. Nonetheless, The Dentistry Collective's practices and policies were very reassuring to me. I am glad they have taken the risks very seriously and handled things in a very professional manner.
