The Dental Specialists Pediatric Dentistry provides preventative dental care for children of all ages in our Garland dental office. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that to prevent dental problems, your child should see a pediatric dentist when the first tooth appears or no later than his or her first birthday. Its also recommended that your child gets a complete dental checkup every six months to prevent cavities and other dental problems. Having exams regularly allows us to catch any developing issues before they become bigger, and possibly more expensive, issues. Get in touch to schedule preventive dentistry for children in our Garland, TX pediatric dental office.

Starting with your childs very first dental visit, our dental office will regularly check their teeth, gums, and tongue for any developing issues. At times, digital X-rays may be recommended to assist with the exam. If your child is under four years old, well do a complete exam of your childs teeth and gums, including a dental cleaning and fluoride treatment. If your child is four years old or older, well do a complete exam of their teeth and gums, including a professional dental cleaning using flavored toothpaste, a fluoride treatment, and a set of digital X-rays.

The Dental Specialists Pediatric Dentistry - Pediatric dentist in Garland, TX

Our dental office places sealants on childrens teeth to help prevent future cavities. Sealants act as a protective barrier against food and bacteria, which can get stuck in the grooves of your childs teeth and cause decay. Placement of sealants is simple, relatively pain-free, and can last for many years. Sealants come in two colors, white or clear, and dont change your childs bite.

Non-nutritive habits include thumb sucking and tongue thrusting, two behaviors that can throw off the alignment of a childs teeth over time and create a wide variety of orthodontic issues. Both can be difficult to break, but our team has helped countless children do it before using gentle, proven strategies. If we notice these habits or you bring them up to us, well show you how to get your child to stop, which will help them avoid several dental problems in the future.

The Dental Specialists Pediatric Dentistry - Pediatric dentist in Garland, TX

Our dental office highly recommends fluoride. Treatments are safe, quick, and easy. Fluoride is a way to ensure that your childs teeth are strong, and it also helps protect against cavity-causing decay.

As your childs teeth begin to erupt, well also perform a cleaning at each regular dental visit. Cleanings remove built-up debris from your childs teeth that could otherwise irritate their gums and cause decay. Well also go over your childs brushing and flossing habits, demonstrating the proper way to brush and floss, as it leads to cleaner teeth, healthier gums, and happier patients and parents overall!

Although many parents think that baby teeth are not important and are just going to fall out eventually, theyre actually an important factor in the eruption of the permanent teeth. While theyll fall out eventually, its when they do thats important. Baby teeth keep proper spacing in the mouth while permanent teeth develop and start to come in, ensuring that theres an appropriate path for the eruption process. So, if your child loses a tooth early due to trauma or other oral issues, we may recommend a space maintainer to keep the spacing for the permanent tooth or teeth to come in.

Dr preece and his team did an amazing job with my daughter's dental procedure. Wait time; there was none I should say. Very professional, kind and friendly atmosphere and attitude. Getting an appointment with Dr Preece is worth it; coming all the way from Princeton I am happy to travel 40 mins for my daughters dental visit. Won't look towards any other dental office for my kids. My daughter had some crown and filling procedure done in 2 visits; which she was given funny gas and numbing medication. No pain whatsoever, she was calm and relaxed. Dr preece and his assistant had remarkable bedside manners; very much impressed. Appointment had been scheduled for January 2023 due to no availability. However, I was put on waitlist and the dental procedure was completed during October of 2022. Very much appreciate the staff for informing me to book an earlier appointment and giving us a great experience. Huma (Zimal's mom)

Very busy office. Not a good fit for a toddler. Wait times are long. We left before seeing the dentist since we had been there an hour. The rooms have multiple stations set up, which was very distracting for my toddler to see other kids getting their teeth worked on. Would not recommend.

Dr. Preece and staff did an amazing job with my 5yo daughter's dental work today. She has past history of dental anxiety and panicking during treatment at her previous dental office. We opted for oral sedation for her treatment and everything went smoothly and she was completely calm and at ease. You would have never known she used to be so scared of the dentist. Everyone is friendly, professional, and Dr. Preece has exceptional bedside manner. Thank you!

I think he is the best dentist in town. He listens to every concern you may have and is great with kids. Makes them feel very conformable. I'm so happy with my choice. The front staff could be more pleasant though.

Dr. Preece is very big shot now that he is no longer on Broadway. This new staff is horrible, it is a different person everytime you call. I called about a insurance text. The receptionist tells me they don't have ANYTHING on my son for insurance , disregarding he has been there within the last 3 months on an insurance visit. I proceed to give the information again. Next, I scheduled an appointment about a week ago which was scheduled for the upcoming week. The receptionist tells me Dr . Preece can't see him at all. My thoughts- I called about an insurance update, when was someone at the office going to call and tell me he could do my appointment AT ALL on that date. Her response- Im sorry I don't know who scheduled your appointment and why you didn't get a call. Wow. Not trilled about the new staff at all.

Left a bad taste in my mouth! I have been coming here for a few years. Every time my kids have seen a different hygienist and dentist. It's like this office doesn't understand the mentality of children and can't relate to them. BEWARE!!! The dentist here said my child has cavities in 3 adult teeth and gave me a treatment plan for drilling into these 3 adult teeth. Today, I got a second opinion from another dentist and THERE ARE ZERO CAVITIES IN THOSE ADULT TEETH!!

I complained to The State Board immediately after my appointment. The obese receptionist nor office staff informed me their office moved until 49 minutes before my appointment. Frustrated when calling to ask for the office location after going to their former location for my appointment, a morbidly obese office manager treated me in an undignified way when we arrived and lied about a temperature check being too high for my driver as a reason to refuse us entry and treatment. She suspiciously refused to retake his temperature or prove he had a fever. Again, our driver was not the patient or guardian and only drove us; he does not live in our household. He likely did not have a temperature, but the morbidly obese office manager seemed to not care whether or not he really had a fever and perhaps wanted to degrade me and my children by ordering us out whilst obviously being hostile herself. If you have a choice or care about professionalism you might want to avoid this office.

Updated 06/2021: our daughter has been a patient of Dr. Preece since she was 18 months old...she is now 5 and a half. She loves him. The staff at their previous location and the new location are phenomenal. Best pediatric dentist. Keep up the great work. This place was the best dentist office I've ever been to. The sweet office manager made sure everything was perfect, and the rest of the front office girls were amazing. They took my temperature before I was able to enter but I didn't get upset about because I'm aware that we have been in a global pandemic for over a year...I read a previous review that was very offensive and tasteless calling the staff obese and I just wanted to publicly voice how great the staff was and that the rude, obnoxious, offensive and classless review couldn't be more far from the truth. Jennifer made my day when I was there. The best in town! Sweetest staff of all time.
