Of course, different hygienists have different levels of skill. But, for the most part, if you give a dental hygienist the tools they need and the time to truly provide a high level of care, they will take that task and do it exceptionally well.
What is actually accomplished during that visit? Did the hygienist do a thorough exam including an oral cancer screening? Were the necessary digital x-rays taken? Did you see via video the treatment you need rather than just taking the word of the hygienist or dentist? Did your hygienist do a thorough periodontal charting in order to determine if you have periodontal disease and provide a way to compare one year to the next....and the list goes on?
Did you receive all of this in a safe, sterile, and compassionate manner? Were you taken on time and invited to participate in your own dental treatment planning? Did the dentist come in and do his/her own clinical exam, cancer screening and review any necessary or elective treatment.
The profession of Dentistry is rapidly changing. This is not only due to the current crisis with COVID-19, but more importantly, with the changes in technology, personal communication, human resources, and the need to understand the people we are dedicated to treating.
When you're a practicing dentist, you rely upon manufacturers, distributors, independents and a wide range of other people to help you on a day to day basis. We need these people to make sure that the service we are providing is the latest, most up to date and finest available. Dentists cannot do the research themselves and rely upon these companies to provide them with the best they can offer.
How do companies work within the profession unless they have a dentist on staff as an integral part of their team? Someone who understands both sides of the equation. Someone who has wet fingers from working daily doing the actual work of a dentist and at the same time has an understanding of the needs of the companies that provide us with so many of the services and technologies we need.
So, as a dental consultant, I do not work in dental offices as some consultants do in order to help dentists build their practices. I spend my time working with dental manufacturers and distributors helping them better understand the market they serve. Who knows better what a dentist needs than another dentist? Who knows how to integrate the two entities better than someone who has worked in both areas of the profession.

Didn't feel shots in mouth at all. Great job on teeth. Dr Gantz is funny too. Def recommend him. He is experienced and a perfectionist. I am giving a second shout out to Dr Ganz. I had an emergency extraction which Dr Ganz arranged for me immediately despite the fact that I had trouble getting an appointment. He then made me beautiful temporary teeth so so I could continue to smile broadly without embarrassment. I think his skills r superior and he has a great way with patients making it hem comfortable

I came in for a regular checkup and was taken in immediately. The dental technician was friendly and efficiently took the standard x-rays. She checked my teeth and Dr Ganz came in soon after to look over the x-rays and my mouth. All in all, a pleasant, efficient, and safe visit.

Dentists are one of my least enjoyable experiences in life, but they make it as painless as possible and do a great job making you feel comfortable. Dr. Ganz and his staff are the absolute best. I have been a patient here for 10+ years and do not trust anyone else when it comes to dental work. Dental work can be stressful and anxiety provoking, but he always makes the experience as enjoyable as possible. He is an an amazing provider and has connected me to other specialities on the spot when further work was needed. He also never hesitates to squeeze me in for an emergency appointment. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ganz and his staff and that is probably why I'm their favorite patient ;) thank you dr Ganz !

The office is definitely taking all necessary precautions regarding corona virus. I call from my car and haven't had to wait. Dr. Ganz is very thorough, takes time to explain everything, and so far, has done a great job. I have a lot of dental work to be done and I feel confident that Dr. Ganz will take good care of my teeth!
