Its unlikely that you have never seen or heard of dentures previously. Whether you know someone with dentures or are considering them for yourself, they are abundant in modern society. Though frequently associated with the elderly, dentures are often used by younger people who have suffered tooth loss and are looking to regain a full set of teeth.

Dentures have a long and interesting history, with the first evidence of false teeth being seen as early as the 7th century BC made from animal and human teeth. That said, modern dentures have come a long way and developed and improved since their primitive ancestors, often looking so natural, youd never know they were false teeth.

Dentures are artificial teeth and gums that are specially made to fit comfortably in your mouth, looking and functioning like natural teeth. Though previously made from porcelain or plastic, modern dentures tend to be made from resin which is lightweight and easy to wear.

Dentures are worn by people who are missing natural teeth (the number of teeth missing can vary, some people missing a few while others have lost all of their natural teeth). People can be missing teeth for several reasons:

Some dentists offer multiple types of dentures while others prefer to specialize in just one, so it is important to do your research and consult with your dentist before making any decisions. If you are unsure which option is best for you, your dentist should be able to help guide you.

When people picture dentures, they are most likely picturing the full or complete dentures we are most familiar with. These are the complete set of teeth and gums that are typically held in place by suction and/or special denture adhesive.

Full dentures can be worn on the top or bottom row of teeth, or both when necessary. They are made to fit your mouth comfortably, but can only be worn once your remaining natural teeth have been extracted and the gums have had time to heal.

Full dentures are the best option for anyone who has lost all of their teeth, restoring a full smile and all of the benefits and abilities of natural teeth including chewing, speech, and facial tissue support.

Partial dentures or bridges are used when there are enough remaining healthy natural teeth to support them. Replacement teeth are attached to a gum-colored base whichis typically made of plastic. Often, there is a metal framework or clasps that hold the denture in place.

Partial dentures fill the spaces left when there are teeth missing. This offers not only aesthetic benefits but can also help prevent the remaining teeth from shifting or changing position. They can also improve the ability to chew and prevent further damage to the remaining teeth caused by working too hard to compensate for the teeth that are missing.

Partial dentures are made to look very realistic and blend into your natural teeth. When wearing a correctly fitting, well-made partial denture, there is no reason to be concerned that anyone would know you had false teeth at all.

Sometimes, people are concerned by the amount of time they will be without teeth while waiting for the gums to heal after teeth have been extracted. The healing time can take several months, during which time you will obviously have no teeth. This can bring not only practical issues such as speech or chewing difficulties but can take a serious toll on self-confidence. Many people feel embarrassed by a few missing teeth, so having none at all can negatively affect their mental health.

Immediate dentures deal with this concern as they allow you to replace the missing teeth right away. Immediate dentures can be made as both full and partial dentures, and can actually act as a bandage protecting the gums following tooth extractions, reducing inflammation and bleeding.

Due to the fact that gums are likely to shrink and change shape as they heal following tooth extractions, there is the requirement for multiple visits to the dentist. These visits are necessary in order to adjust the immediate dentures to ensure the best fit as your gums heal over time.

Tooth loss is becoming more and more common in adults. In fact, nearly 69% of adults are missing at least one of their permanent teeth. Due to the prevalence of tooth loss, its no wonder there are so many options available when it comes to replacements. At The Dental Lounge, we remind our patients that replacing missing teeth is critical for keeping the rest of your teeth aligned.

Dental implants are a permanent tooth replacement solution that involves surgically attaching a titanium post to the jaw. The post will act the same as the root of a natural tooth. An artificial tooth is created which attaches to the post after healing from the surgery. The result of dental implants is completely natural with virtually no equipment in your mouth at the end for a beautiful, realistic, hassle free smile.

Bridges are false teeth that replace your missing ones. They are typically made from either porcelain or zirconia and are held in place by your natural teeth surrounding the missing ones. Bridges can cover multiple teeth or just one if necessary and are made to match your existing teeth.

So youre ready to transform your smile with dental implants or bridges? The Dental Lounge is a premium, one-stop for any and all of your dental needs. Our capable staff are the best in their fields, there are no better hands in which to trust your precious smile. With a commitment to oral health and a patient care experience that is nothing short of luxurious, youll find yourself looking forward to your dentist visits!

Dental implants are a decidedly good option for anyone seeking a permanent tooth replacement solution. The Dental Lounge frequently helps patients with improving their smile and dental health, and we are committed to helping our patients understand every process throughout.

In short, dental implants involve surgically attaching a titanium post to the jaw bone which is then left to heal. After the healing period, a false tooth or crown is attached to the post, acting as a natural tooth and the root of the tooth respectively.

One of the main cautionary requirements is that you need to have enough healthy bone upon which to graft the titanium post. Patients who have suffered bone loss may need to undergo a sinus lift before they are eligible to receive dental implants. There is no need to be concerned or overwhelmed by a sinus lift & dental implants, its all much simpler than it sounds.

In short, a sinus lift procedure, or sinus augmentation, is a procedure used to increase the amount of available bone on the top jaw. It is essentially a bone graft procedure that aims to grow bone in the floor of the sinus by adding bone to the space between your molars and premolars.

Many people opt for dental implants as a replacement for missing teeth. However, the procedure requires the patient to have a certain amount of bone mass to ensure successful implantation of the titanium post. Sometimes, due to trauma or periodontal disease, the patient doesnt meet the minimum requirements of bone mass. In these cases, a sinus lift may be required in order to increase the amount of available, healthy bone into which titanium posts can be implanted.

At The Dental Lounge, we are proud to offer our clients a high quality experience with each and every visit. Patient care is of utmost importance to us, we go above and beyond to ensure that each of our team members is well trained and at the top of their field. When you visit The Dental Lounge, whether you need a sinus lift & dental implants or a simple routine cleaning, know that you are in the very best hands.

Finding the right dentist has always been a struggle for me. I hate dentist offices and have childhood trauma with dentist. My parents were obsessed with taking me to the dentist and put braces on me three times because they didn't want my teeth to shift. I LOVED my dentist in Plantation, but when the practice was taken over by a new doctor it didn't feel the same. I took a chance at the Dental Lounge because their FB ads really sold me. They do a great job at following up with me after I made an initial inquiry. When I arrived for my first appointment, they were busy. That's a good sign, but their entire work space is all in the open. When I was seen, I couldn't get over all the noise around me of other patients they were servicing. I felt very frazzled when I was spoken to and even more so when it came time for payment. I didn't want to move forward with everything they recommended but the person handling payment really tried to talk me into it. They offered their No-Interest payment plan which I feel could have been explained to me better. I was confused on how it works and I was told "if you use the bank account with the most money in it you'll get approved." They told me to download the app, link my account, then we'll see what I can get approved for. I was approved and they proceeded with the payment plan. I realized afterwards that I could have just used my FSA account. I like what they are trying to do there, but its not the office for me. The main doctor there is really nice. He tended me often to make sure I was OK, but I feel like that just added to the chaos I felt while I was there.
