For over 40 years our dentists have been offering comprehensive dentistry to all those in the San Luis Obispo area. In 2016, we remodeled our dental office, making it more modern and comfortable for our patients. The Dental Group of Latta, Wells & Associates has been providing quality dental care on the central coast of California since 1970. Through the years, we have continued to refine and develop our practice alongside the dynamic profession of advanced dentistry.

We have a great team at The Dental Group of Latta, Wells & Associates that is large and diverse. Some of our team members have been with us for over 15 years! We make the most of this variety in experience and skill set, and in doing so, we have cultivated a fun, family atmosphere. Our team members love working together and caring for our patients. If you need Spanish services, we have a dental assistant and a dental hygienist who are fluent in Spanish and English.

Dr. Alan Latta graduated from Loma Linda University in 1996 and has been providing dentistry to the area ever since. Prior to his dental studies, Dr. Latta received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Pacific Union College. Dr. Alan Latta takes education classes locally through the Central Coast Dental Society and nationally with the American Dental Association on a yearly basis.

Dr. Latta is a member of the ADA. Additionally, he received the NASDAD award from Loma Linda University for demonstrating scholastic achievement and outstanding humanitarian concern. Dr. Latta frequently travels and does volunteer dentistry with Global Dental Relief and Amistad.

Dr. Latta has enjoyed doing volunteer dentistry locally and around the world since he was in dental school. He has been to Mexico many times and has also worked in Asia, the Caribbean, Central America and Africa. Over the years, he has worked with local organizations to provide dental care to the underserved in the San Luis Obispo Community.

Dr. Latta has two daughters. He loves to take them camping whenever he can. An avid biker, he likes to ride his bike to work and around the county. In his free time, Dr. Latta enjoys surfing, backpacking and trail running.

Dr. Latta takes a great deal of satisfaction from the relationships he has built with his patients. He strives to make his office a place of warmth. He cares for his patients and team and enjoys improving the lives of others.

Dr. Robert Wells graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2001. Immediately after finishing school at Loma Linda University, he started working at this office. He shows his commitment to furthering his education in dentistry by attending 25 to 35 hours of additional education each year. He goes to local education programs through Central Coast Dental Society as well as conventions with the CDA and ADA.

Dr. Robert Wells is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Aileen. Together, they have two awesome kids, Natalie and Owen. They enjoy water skiing and snow skiing. His family likes to spend time together, playing games and enjoying the outdoors. Faith, church and community are important to his family. Dr. Wells likes to follow his kids passions of volleyball, baseball, reading and music. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Aileen. In his free time, Dr. Wells loves golfing and watching the Dodgers.

Dr. Robert Wells enjoys doing his best to make his patients feel comfortable. He always acts with honesty, integrity and kindness. Dr. Wells likes to provide lasting, quality dentistry. He loves that his team treats patients as they would want their families to be treated.

Dr. Byron Poblacion completed his education at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2006. He completed his bachelors degree at Pacific Union College. Dr. Poblacion regularly takes online courses to improve his skills in dentistry attending professional meetings and participating in study clubs. He has been practicing in the area since 2015.

In his free time, Dr. Poblacion enjoys playing acoustic guitar, singing, cycling, running and other outdoor activities when he has the opportunity. He says that hanging out with his family is the most rewarding and meaningful part of his day.

Dr. Byron Poblacion wants to provide the highest quality dentistry. He provides a personal touch to what he does. He enjoys partnering with patients in the care of their oral health. Dr. Poblacion is enthusiastic about what he does. He cant imagine being part of any other profession.

Drs. Latta, Wells and Poblacion prioritize giving back not only to our local community, but also on a worldwide scale. They have teamed with and financially supported a variety of organizations including Global Dental Relief, Amistad, the Noor clinic, the Tolosa Childrens clinic and Transitions Mental Health.

Dr. Lattas most recent global adventure took him to India where he was joined by hygienist Roxana Crespo to provide dental care to Buddhist children in the Himalayan town of Leh in partnership with Global Dental Relief. The previous year he was fortunate enough to be joined by his eldest daughter, Sophia, on a trip to provide dental care to children in Guatemala.

Additionally, some of our hygienists have teamed up with organizations such as Give Kids a Smile to provide preventative dental care to local children who would not otherwise have access to such care. Staff members are supported and encouraged in their efforts and ambitions to use their skills to better the lives of others.
