Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.

Bridges are sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, because they are semi-permanent and are bonded to existing teeth or implants. There are several types of fixed dental bridges (cannot be removed), including conventional fixed bridges, cantilever bridges and resin-bonded bridges. Unlike a removable bridge, which you can take out and clean, your dentist can only remove a fixed bridge. .

Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth's function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth.

Crowns are also used to attach bridges, cover implants, prevent a cracked tooth from becoming worse, or an existing filling is in jeopardy of becoming loose or dislocated. Crowns also serve an aesthetic use, and are applied when a discolored or stained tooth needs to be restored to its natural appearance.

A tooth must usually be reduced in size to accommodate a crown. An impression is then made from the existing tooth to create a custom-designed crown. The impression is sent to a special lab, which manufactures a custom-designed crown. In some cases, a temporary crown is applied until the permanent crown is ready. Permanent crowns are cemented in place.

With proper care, a good quality crown could last up to eight years or longer. It is very important to floss in the area of the crown to avoid excess plaque or collection of debris around the restoration.

Certain behaviors such as jaw clenching or bruxism (teeth grinding) significantly shorten the life of a crown. Moreover, eating brittle foods, ice or hard candy can compromise the adhesion of the crown, or even damage the crown.

Because of insurance issues, I've had to switch Dentists several times and I can tell you unfortunately that not all Dentists are equal. If you are looking for a quality dentist in the Appleton Wisconsin area, I highly recommend Dr Menos and his staff. The doctor and his staff provide very thorough personal dental care. Having broken an eyetooth recently, Dr Menos got me in immediately and was able to provide a quality temporary until a permanent replacement could be made. While there are many dentists that provide routine care, it's an emergency situation that shows a dentist who is willing to go above and beyond for your care. Dr. Menos is a perfectionist who cares about doing the best for his patients and that's what I am looking for!

Dr. Menos and his staff are amazing. From the front desk, to the hygienists, assistants and Dr. Menos everyone is great. I went in for a cleaning and a cavity was found. I haven't had a cavity since high school, so I was disappointed for sure. His staff was able to schedule me quickly and conveniently. His assistant used a topical anesthetic prior to Dr. Menos coming in to administer the Novocain. When he administered the Novocain, there was no pain, he was extremely gentile and let it take affect before getting started. The filling was painless and he and his assistant made sure I was comfortable the entire process. They took the time to make sure the filling did not cause any discomfort. When I returned to work and the Novocain wore off there was still no discomfort. I have to say, Dr. Menos is a dentist I am happy to visit and everyone makes the process comfortable. I recommend Dr. Menos to all of my friends and community.

I have been coming to The Dental Center for 10 plus years. These are some great people no b.s. Dr. and his crew are honest, on time, and very respectful. I also think the Dr. volunteers for less fortunate people by the plaques on the walls in the office, witch is important for the community.

I would highly recommend The Dental Center of the Valley and Dr. Perry Menos! I have had several appointments and am very pleased with the service and the people involved. The front desk is welcoming and great about working with your availability and insurance. The dental assistants are pleasent and prompt. Dr. Menos is great at his job! He always takes the time to do the work above expectations. He will let you know that if anything is wrong when you leave, to get in immediate contact(I've never had a problem). Most importantly while I'm sure that dentists see some unsettling things Dr.Menos remains professional and never shows judgement or discrimination. Thank you all and I look forward to my next visit!

It's always been a pleasure to visit with Dr. Menos and his staff! He's compassionate and understanding, and his office is up to par with the latest technology. Very knowledgeable and explains everything he is doing. I'll never change dentists until he retires, that's how much I trust and like Dr. and his staff. I would recommend anyone and everyone to Dr. Menos and his team!

As a child, I learned to fear dentists. I associated them with medieval-like pain and torture. That fear carried on into the military and, if anything, got worse. When we moved here almost 30 years ago, one of the first things my wife did was look for a dentist. It didn't matter which one to me because they were all going to hurt. She chose Dr. Menos. Other than marrying me, it was the best decision she has ever made. He's professional, caring, and goes way beyond the norm to assure I get the best care possible. His staff is in the same category. I too, have been counseled about my dental practices. It was always done in a kind and caring way; never in a scolding way to belittle me. I also want to stress how he takes care of my family. My son is attending law school in Atlanta and is in town during Christmas break. Despite a very tight patient load, his staff bent over backwards and somehow found a way to get his teeth cleaned and a cavity repaired. I didn't think it was possible, but they did it. All of this to say that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Menos and his amazing staff to anyone. I wouldn't go to anyone else!

Not that amazing like the other reviews below. Dr. was not horrible, but would not say the chair side manner was enjoyable. I got the feeling my appointment was bothering or interrupting something more exciting he could have been doing (golf?). His staff is where my biggest issue came in. The Hygienist got her rocks off by dental shaming me. She enjoyed telling me all the things I did wrong and belittling me for roughly 15 minutes. What a true waste of my time. I understand she has a job to do, but there is a polite and ethical way to treat someone that she has not been trained in yet. I am moving my services.
