Dr. Murphy attended San Francisco State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1967. He attended Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. and graduated number three out of a class of eighty students in 1972. He completed a three-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Howard University Hospital in 1975 obtaining a Certificate in Oral Surgery. After thirty years of very successful solo private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Oakland, he has joined our group multispecialty and general dentistry practice here in Concord. We look forward to serving theOral and Maxillofacial Surgeryneeds of our dental colleagues here in Contra Costa County.

Dr. Murphy is Board Eligible and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the American, Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Dental and California Dental Association.

He resides in the Contra Costa County City of Orinda and has interests and hobbies that include birdwatching, skiing, fishing, hiking, traveling, reading, and community charity work. Dr. Murphy is married and has three adult children.
