I had an amazing experience with Dr Swanson and his staff. My appointment was at 8:30 am and I had a wisdom tooth xrayed and pulled within an hour and 15 minutes. It was totally painless and done very professionally. His staff from the time I checked in to the time I checked out was very very nice as well as professional.

My son was in an auto accident in March in this small town of Effingham. According to the local hospital, this was the only surgeon that could stitch his face. First of all this provider would not take my son's health insurance or treat him until we provided the claim number in correspondence with the auto accident. They wanted to ensure they were paid the maximum amount billed. My son didn't live in the local area and had a check up 10 days later in Indpls. The wound didn't appear to be healing correctly and the dermatologist in Indpls. stated there should have been more stitches in place. Had I known the quality of work this surgeon performed I would have waited and had it treated in Indpls. Unfortunately for this small town, this surgeon seems to be the only one in the area. Subsequently, this provider doesn't accept insurance payments in full and we have now received a bill for the difference. I would proceed with extreme caution or recommend going to a larger city where there are more qualified providers.

To much to say without losing your attention so I will give a time line. My appointment was at 8 am. Got in chair close to 10 am Dr gives me 2 shots. Close to an hour later Dr comes back in asks if I am numb, I say I think so, he puts whatever tool is called on tooth to be extracted and I can feel it. He then with no warning jabs me again with novacain and it was worse than the first two. He leaves for fifteen mins comes back then repeat last scenario with the exception of I said sir "I don't know what's wrong I just had a wisdom tooth extraction a few weeks ago and didn't have" he inturupted and said "That's an option to you can go somewhere else if you want" I in total pain said sir that's not what I mean. Long story short after at least 8 novacain shots, him calling the xrays I brought from local dentist "s#*t", 4 hours, $160 (which I feel is a fair price). Tooth is out I am healing well only took one pain pill, his staff was great, but the Dr needs to learn about empathy.

best oral surgeon . repaired my sons horrible facial injuries . he is the only board certified oral surgeon able to repair these kinds of injuries in Effingham and is the chairman of the surgery department there.

I had double jaw surgery. I was in the hospital for 4 days. Dr. Swanson came to the hospital twice a day not because he had to but because he cares that much about his patients. Dr. Swanson is AMAZING!!! His staff is extremely nice and helpful. Any questions I had before and after surgery they were eager to help. If you need someone that prepares you for surgery and just wants to improve your quality of life. Dr. Swanson is your man!

I was at Dr. Swanson's office today and witnessed a horrible display by the two ladies who worked at the front counter of the office. A young mother was having her child treated today and was checking out trying to explain that she was waiting for her replacement Medicaid card to come in but told the help that it was on file at the hospital and the office staff went off on her like she was a piece of dirt. I was shocked by their lack of concern or customer service skills. Rather than nicely telling her that they needed that information they instead yelled at her telling her that "they are not the hospital and this was unacceptable". I felt so bad for this mother, being scolded like this in front of all the customers. She started to walk out with her head hung low and turned around and finally spoke her mind to the office help. All I could say was bravo! No one should be treated like that. Sharped your customer service skills people!
