Dr. Shawn Schlessel, a Cleveland native, attended The Ohio State University for his undergraduate studies. After graduating from dental school from The University of Tennessee, he joined one of Nashvilles most recognized cosmetic and general dental practices. There he learned to perfect his craft as well as continue his education with the latest dental technology and courses. After he and his wife Alexis welcomed their daughter Sylvia, they knew it was time to leave Nashville and head back to Cleveland to be closer to their families.
Dr. Schlessel believes that the ability to smile with confidence is truly life-changing. That is why he is committed to helping his patients feel and look their best by achieving their perfect smile. Dr. Benjamin Hornstein leads our team of artists. He completed a general practice residency in 1986 and has been in private practice ever since. However, Dr. Hornstein doesnt just practice dentistry; he perfects it. In fact, his masterpieces change peoples lives. He has studied at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), focusing on posterior and anterior aesthetics, full-mouth reconstruction, and neuromuscular occlusion. Dr. Hornstein is also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Ohio Dental Association (ODA) and The Greater Cleveland Dental Association.
Dr. Hornstein has quite a bit of experience in dentistry. He has completed over 40,000 white, bonded restorations since he has entered into the practice. His technical expertise is enhanced by his innate artistic talent and the act of creating beautiful smiles from even the most complex clinical cases. In addition to his skills in aesthetic restorations, his experience also includes nearly all other areas of dentistry, including pediatric, periodontal (gum disease treatment), teeth whitening, smile enhancements, dental reconstruction, and neuromuscular therapies. Dr. Hornstein avidly shares his skills in advanced dentistry with other dentists from around the world by instructing them in different courses.

I can't say enough great things about The Center for Advanced Dentistry. Dr. Shawn Schlessel, Dr. Benjamin Hornstein and team (Lydia, Sarina, Sue, Gayle, Michelle and Ashton) are truly exquisite. They somehow make going to the dentist not nearly as bad as the anxiety that comes before it. Dr. Shawn Schlessel is extremely knowledgeable, professional and has the most incredible bedside manner. He uses advanced technology to make any required dental procedure easy and as painless as possible. I know I'm in good hands whenever I may need to see visit him and his team. I'm so glad I found The Center for Advanced Dentistry for all my dentistry needs.

From the moment I walked in, Sue was very kind and welcoming! She made my check in and check out very easy and had a great customer service personality! I understand why they have someone like her up front! Both Ashtyn and Dr. Shawn took great care of me and made me feel at ease about getting my teeth back on track! They were easy to talk to and extremely reassuring. Because of them, I look forward to going back. I highly recommend this practice!

What a great team of professionals! Leading this outstanding team is Dr Hornstein, the best dentist I have ever had the privilege of depending on for my dental care. Because he leads by example, all of his support staff are likewise superbly skilled and kind. Listen, from the first appointment through my last, I've received nothing but amazing service. My case looked easy but HRH does nothing easy and they handled my case very well despite a few bumps on the way to the finish line. I received veneers and decided to stay on as a hygiene client! As a first time patient, Sue immediately made me feel welcomed as soon as I walked in the front door as if I'd been a patient for years. Dr Shawn filled my first cavity and he made me feel really comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr Shawn to anyone looking for a new dentist!

This dentist is the best around by far! My wife and I researched and visited a bunch of dentist and we chose to drive an hour away to go to this dentist when there are many closer to home but not the same people or quality of work or materials used. Sue at the front desk is awesome, makes the billing and scheduling easy and better than any dentist I have been to. Sandy and Gina are great at their job and make you feel comfortable and less like your at a normal dentist office. They don't tear your gums up like I experienced at all other dentist and when they numb you they dont push it too deep where you get a sharp pinching pain. All the other workers are friendly and seem like they all keep a good atmosphere together to make the office less stressful and more laughs. Dr. Shawn is funny and also really generous with how he goes above and beyond doing more than what is expected and also helping make it affordable. The whole place is truly a great dentist and makes me actually want to go to the dentist cause I feel like they care about their patients and aren't just there to make money. I appreciate more than words can describe how they help make it affordable and work with your budget and they have a great savings plan that is $350 including 2 cleanings, xray, and 20% fillings when just 1 cleaning alone is $189. The best dentist I've ever been to flat out!

My experience here was lovely from the first phone call when I got to talk to Dr. Shawn and Sue who were both kind and welcoming. Ashton is a very knowledgeable hygienist and was thorough not only in her cleaning but when explaining what she was doing and why which I really appreciated. I was given payment options since I don't have insurance and told the cost up front for replacing an optional filling. The technology is also worth mentioning. Getting to see your teeth on the big screen was not only a treat, it was comforting to know that this office is using state of the art equipment. I also love the free t-shirt in the goodie bag! Do I really have to wait 6 months to come back?

I walked in this morning as a new patient and immediately felt as if I have always been a patient of Dr. Schlessel. He took the time to not only get to know me, but also made sure all my dental concerns were answered. He is super knowledgeable and friendly! From the moment I walked in the door everyone was very warm and friendly. I am getting married in July, and the staff were all interested in my planning and details on my big day. After having some very negative experiences at previous dentists for about 25 years of my life, I thought that was just a normal part of going to the dentist. I dreaded it! It felt like torture and was almost too stressful and terrifying to just walk into the office for a routine teeth cleaning. I discovered The Center for Advanced Dentistry and made the switch. From my first appointment, it was like a breath of fresh air. Turns out, those negative experiences are really not par for the course. Dr. Hornstein, Dr. Schlessel and the entire staff exemplify kindness, compassion and truly care about your well-being which I have found to be a rarity among many offices. An added bonus is that they have quite a few comedians on staff and never fail to make you laugh about something. I have been going here for years and have sent friends and family to this practice as I trust them wholeheartedly. When you find a group of individuals who are passionate about the work they do and care about your outcome, you find they do a phenomenal job - that's what this group has to offer. It is refreshing to actually look forward to going to the dentist - I never thought I would ever say these words. You walk into this office as a patient and leave feeling like family! I am so grateful for the entire staff at The Center for Advanced Dentistry.
