Born and raised in Topeka, KS, Dr. Kirkegaard grew up obsessed with medicine, as his father was an ophthalmologist and the inspiration for Dr. K to pursue medicine as his career. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a Minor in Business from the University of Kansas, he headed to Chicago to complete his DMD at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine. Unable to stay away from his beloved home state, he returned to Kansas and has since opened up his own practice, The Art of Dentistry, with the goal of bringing quality dental care to the community he loves.When hes not in the office, youll find him spending time with his wife, cat, and new baby girl. He enjoys biking and climbing, and, as a lifelong music and art lover, he paints, collects vinyl records and is currently learning to play the piano.

Everything is perfect about The Art of Dentistry. Cleaning and artsy design of the office, friendly front desk, assistant and The dentist, state of art technology (they can make the crown in-house, within 25 mins!! It's so unbelievable). My experience there was just amazing! I highly recommend them.

Dr. Kirkegaard and his team provide excellent quality service. After restoring all of my teeth, they're now helping to improve my smile. Dr. Kirkegaard (Dr. K) is the best. In fear of losing my "man card", I have to admit that I have a lot of anxiety of going to the dentist. Not so much the cleanings, but anytime I hear the word cavity my anxiety goes to a ten. I am not a fan of the numbing feeling, or anything else about the process, to be honest. When Dr. K told me he found several cavities I felt like I was going to pass out. Dr. K explained to me, in great detail, what he was going to do and said we will start with one so I could build trust in him. During the first procedure Dr. K kept conversing with me and asking me how I was doing and telling me I was doing great. I built a lot of confidence in him and went on a couple follow ups for the rest of my dental work. Dr. K and his staff are true professionals and you can truly tell they care about their patients. I no longer fear going to the dentist and hearing the word cavity. I highly, highly, recommend Dr. K and his tremendously friendly staff. By the way they even care enough that they are training a therapy dog there to comfort the patients. Awesome dentist and staff.

Absolutely love this office. My fear of a dentist has gone away. Dr. K and his staff are awesome. Constantly making sure your comfort is first. Dr. K does not tell you what he is doing, he let's you know what needs done and involves you in the plan. When I go in, there are no surprises. This office surpasses any dental office I've ever been in.

Recently relocated to KS and am so pleased we found Dr. Kirkegaard. Everyone we met at The Art of Dentistry were very pleasant and professional. I'd definitely recommend them to friends and family. Follow Up to Previous Review Never thought I'd say getting a crown was a pleasant experience however Dr. Kirkegaard and his team did just that.

I have had several office visits this year to the Art of Dentistry and am very pleased. Everything is explained to me and when there are options in treatment approaches they are explained to me. My appointments have been on time and interactions with the staff has been very favorable. The office runs on Honesty, Kindness and Quality! I highly recommend.
