The Art of Dentistry – Brian Fann, DDS - General dentist in Columbia, TN

At The Art Of Dentistry in Columbia, TN, youll discover the perfect blend of technology, advanced training, and compassionate service.Dr. Fann carefully selects technologies proven to deliver the finest experience to his patients.

Intra-oral imaging gives you a detailed view of your mouth. Words come to life when you can see what we see.Visually transferring specific conditions in your mouth to a computer screen brings clarity thats simply not possible with a traditional mouth mirror. Specialized handheld wands quickly capture the details of your teeth and gums. In fact, even small cracks that often lead to broken teeth appear vividly, with just the click of a button. As an added plus, dental insurance benefits are often more easily paid with the visual proof of a captured image in our records.

CEREC is the most advanced dental restorative system available today. For procedures traditionally requiring a messy impression of your tooth, a temporary crown or bridge, and a second visit for placement, CEREC streamlines the processdramatically.

In ONE visit, 3D digital images of your teeth appear on the screen and Dr. Fann and his team design a customized solution with innovative software. The images produce a crafted porcelain restoration through a milling process. Bonded into place minutes later, your new tooth appears and functions just as nature intended.

Were excited to offer the most advanced imaging process in dentistry: ConeBeam CT scanning, or 3D imaging. This technology allows us to create virtually unlimited views of your teeth, face, and neck with just one scan. Were able to obtain high-quality, detailed information to diagnose and plan your treatment needs. We can evaluate your teeth and facial structures from literally every angle, in 3D, and in color! Routine x-rays, on the other hand, produce a single flat image with limited information.

The ConeBeam CT imaging system is a digital x-ray scanner that rotates once around your head while you stand or simply sit in a chair. The process is quick, simple, and completely painless. The scans produced are as precise as conventional CT (CAT) scans, but use far less radiation. The applications in dentistry are limitless. We use these scans to provide the best treatment in dental implants, root canals, diagnosis of dental and facial pain, etc.

Regardless of your needs, 3D imaging makes it possible to plan and customize your care unlike never before. You can have absolute confidence and satisfaction in the treatment you receive, knowing weve analyzed every problem with 3D technology.

Laser technology continues to transform many procedures in healthcare. Once the subject of sci-fi movies, lasers now clearly provide benefits for mainstream treatment in medicine and dentistry. Shorter procedures, less discomfort, and rapid healing comprise just a few of the benefits offered by modern lasers.

The soft tissues of the mouth cover about 30 square inches of surface area, and sometimes require treatment. Annoying lumps or bumps may need removal with unusual patches of tissues submitted for further microscopic analysis. Traditionally, a surgical procedure involving incisions and sutures would be required to produce an acceptable remedy for these situations. Today, a pen-shaped wand allows Dr. Fann to gently remove suspicious or bothersome bumps within a couple of minutes. The healing stimulated by laser energy leads to rapid resolution and little to no discomfort, without the need for stitches.

Similarly, gums can be quickly reshaped without bleeding for ultimate appearance and health, and some gum infections are treated with rapid resolution afterwards. Even cold sores or mouth ulcers can undergo faster healing when laser energy passes over the surface. Better yet, the days of pain associated with these recurring ulcers can be dramatically decreased immediately. Lasers may also be used with children to help growth and development issues or help wisdom teeth move into place.

A soft tissue laser offers a valuable benefit to many commonly treated conditions in the mouth. Dr. Fanns specific training in laser protocols opens up numerous possibilities using one of modern dentistrys most versatile tools.

Laser technology continues to open up new possibilities in healthcare, including many cosmetic enhancements. In dentistry, lasers also simplify many surgical procedures and lead to more comfortable treatment and more predictable outcomes. But hard tissue lasers take your care one step further, eliminating aspects of dental care that produce anxiety for many patients.

Gentle, Quiet CareHard tissue lasers elevate dental treatment to a new level. Teeth contain water, and laser energy contacting a tooth excites the water molecules to help gently trim away tooth structure. Often, a continuous stream of water produced with the laser keeps the tooth cool, virtually eliminating sensation. And the quiet operation of the laser handpiece offers a pleasant respite from the sound of a dental drill.

Ultra-PreciseA hard tissue lasers highly precise operation allows less of your tooth to be removed in order to access an area damaged by a cavity. And without the vibration of a conventional metal drill, fewer stress cracks develop in the crystal structure of the tooth. Your tooth remains stronger with less filling material needed to return it to full function. Better yet, no anesthetic is needed for many procedures involving the small laser handpiece!

Ultimate ConvenienceSince teeth rarely need numbing before laser treatment, multiple cavities can often be restored in one visit. Instead of worrying about numb lips and return visits, laser dentistry streamlines your care and keeps your lifestyle on track. Adults and children both benefit from treatment that leaves their mouths feeling perfectly normal right after treatment!

The benefits of laser treatment extend well beyond cavities, providing a valuable method for treating gum disease root canals, and some problems around implants. Many other surgical treatments can be simplified, often eliminating the need for stitches or long healing periods. We look forward to introducing you to the comfortable, convenient, and precise possibilities of hard tissue laser treatment at The Art Of Dentistry in Columbia, TN!

During your visits, were observing many aspects of your overall health and include a visual exam of all areas of your mouth. Most people are surprised at the large amount of surface area that lines the mouth: Over 30 square inches of tissue make up the oral cavity!

While oral cancer can afflict anyone, tobacco users put themselves at significantly higher risk than non-users. Chewing tobacco contains up to 3000 different chemicals, including the same compounds used in pesticides and embalming fluid. Cellular changes below the surface arent always detectable until theyve advanced to a critical stage. Thats why we rely on the VELscope technology to help us examine the tissue of both tobacco users and non-users.

VELscope is a wireless, handheld device that produces a natural tissue fluorescence that significantly enhances our visual exam. Recognized by the World Health Organization, this award-winning technology has conducted more than 25 million exams. Easy to use and painless, VELscope helps give us vital information in our quest for early detection of any cancerous or pre-cancerous changes.

April was very understanding and accommodating when, at my very first visit, I could not leave work on time. The waiting room is cozy and comfortable but they didn't leave me there long at all. Ashley, my hygienist was friendly and went above and beyond to explain why I was experiencing some of the issues I was having and also how to correct or prevent problems. Dr. Fann was courteous and professional, taking his time to meet me and further explain some treatment options for me. I was the last patient between them and the door yet I did not feel rushed at all. I feel this place is a great find and I look forward to continuing my care there.
