Dr. Virk specializes in Orofacial pain & TMJ management, primary headache disorders (migraine, tension-type headache etc.) and dental sleep medicine. He received his dental degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of dental medicine. He also earned a certificate in Inter-professional pain education through Penn Dental Medicines Selective Program. During dental school, he externed at the Massachusetts General Hospital orofacial pain clinic in Boston which furthered his interest in a headache, facial pain/TMJ and sleep apnea management. After dental school, Dr. Virk decided to dedicate the rest of his career to orofacial pain and he entered the two-year Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine residency program at UCLA school of dentistry. During his last year of residency, he served as chief resident.
Dr Virk is board certified by the American Board of Orofacial Pain. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), American Headache Society (AHS), International Association for Study of Pain (IASP), Headache Cooperative of the Pacific (HCOP), American Dental Association (ADA) and Texas Dental Association (TDA).He has presented scientific posters at both national and international conferences and is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Texas A&M College of Dentistry, Dallas. He is also actively involved in the clinical research at both UCLA Orofacial pain clinic and Texas A & M Dental College sleep research program.
Dr. Virks focus is on treating and managing all aspects of chronic refractory primary headache disorders such as migraine, tension-type headache, cluster headache and occipital neuralgia, etc. In addition, he treats patients with orofacial pain conditions including musculoskeletal pain (TMD/TMJ, myofascial pain), atypical tooth pain, trigeminal nerve disorders, neurovascular and neuropathic pain. He is experienced in fabrication of TMJ orthotics, dental sleep appliances for management of obstructive sleep apnea/snoring Botox injections for migraines & orofacial pain conditions, intra-articular injections, trigger point injections, and nerve blocks.
Dr. Virk, being one of less than 300 board-certified Orofacial pain doctors in US, is uniquely qualified at evaluating and analyzing the whole picture and how the head, neck, and TMJ may or may not contribute to your overall headache pain. He believes in multidisciplinary approach by working hand in hand with his medical & dental colleagues to provide a best possible care to his patients. With his pleasant and positive demeanor, he spends the time necessary to evaluate and make decisions in order to improve his patients' health and wellbeing.
Outside his practice, Dr Virk enjoys spending time with his wife and son, who keep him busy at home, when he is not seeing patients. He enjoys reading and taking road trips with his family exploring new places.

I have only had my initial consult so far, but I already feel that I am in totally capable hands. The entire staff was attentive, took their time to help and explain things to me, and was honestly super nice. Dr. Virk is awesome. He spent like 30 minutes answering all of my questions, sharing evidence-based explanations for everything TMJ and sleep apnea-related that I asked him. Also: he let me know that sleep apnea symptoms can present differently in women than men, and that is information I had never heard from any doctor before and found it extremely important. So, for any woman looking for a good TMJ/sleep apnea expert: I highly, highly recommend Dr. Virk!

I paid a lot for a mouthguard that was suppose to help with TMJ. The guard was so tight it made my filling come out. They billed me for more money after I thought I'd already finished paying. The guard was over 2k and it's useless. Hasn't improved my TMJ at all! I'm still in terrible pain and my jaw locks frequently.

Dr. Virk is excellent; he was recommended to me by an MD. I believe Dr. Virk really was the first person to thoroughly explain what was going on and give me specific treatment plan (to address the issues) which I have been doing. I don't even live near Southlake, but it's worth it because of his expertise. The staff has always been friendly too. I've been coming here for the past year for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-ups.

Friendly office! I have been to Dr. Virk 3 times now- he is great! He is in the process of correcting my jaw pain and the pain I get from grinding my teeth so hard. He has helped so far and I will continue to go to his office always!

Not honest after one year they send me an invoice for 108.00 even thought they told me insurance will cover certain amount and you owe the rest i paid the rest of my invoice in full how come after one whole year they send me a bill and the mouth piece they made it for me did not work good

Spend a little more money and go to a better doctor. I went here because he was cheaper and accepted medical insurance and after several hundred dollars he did nothing for me but say to go see my other dentist.. But then said come back in a month for another CT scan. What is the point??? Just trying to take money and did not care to help. He also did not go over my whole report, I had to ask all the questions regarding things that I had seen in the report. Front desk girls are also rude. I also requested RX refills twice and they were ignored. Don't waste your time.
