Dr. Chen graduated valedictorian from the University of Texas School of Dentistry. After dental school, he furthered his education receiving his Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Masters of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Chen served as the chief resident during his entire residency. He also was one of the youngest orthodontists to receive the highest certification in orthodontics from the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Chen is also clinical assistant professor in orthodontics at the University of Texas School of Dentistry.
Dr. Chen believes your smile is your calling card and is the most potent weapon one possesses. A persons smile has the strength to forge bonds, break ice, and calm storms. I want our patients to use their smile constantly. I believe the power of who you are is displayed when you smile.
Throughout his career, Dr. Chen has become involved in many professional Orthodontic and Dental Organizations. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southwest Society of Orthodontists, the Texas Orthodontic Association, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society.
Dr. McCarty was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She attended St. Agnes Academy for high school and St. Edwards University for college. Dr. McCarty was valedictorian of her dental school class and received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Texas School of Dentistry. Upon completion of dental school, she continued her education to specialize in orthodontics and received her Certificate in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics and Masters of Science in Dentistry. Dr. McCarty served as chief resident during her entire residency.
Dr. McCartys life motto is to smile often! She believes your smile is your best asset. She wants her patients to love their smiles and have the confidence to use them often. Mother Teresa said, Let us always greet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.

Our staff is highly educated and skilled in treating the simplest of orthodontic cases to the most complex. All of our assistants have many years of experience in orthodontics. They are all registered dental assistants with certifications in radiography, nitrous oxide monitoring, coronal polishing and have completed the AAO assistant training program.

My daughter and I love our orthodontist and staff. No wait time, at the most 10 min on busy days. They explain everything and make you feel comfortable.

They put up with my crazy!!! I have 4 kids who have all gotten their beautiful smile from Texas Orthodontic Specialist. My schedule is always crazy and whether I filled the whole waiting room with 4-5 wild kids or just spaced and forgot an appointment, they have always been kind and accommodating. They are the best!

Dr. Chen was really nice and explained the process well. I liked taking to the lady taking the pictures, too. I was nervous about braces, but now I'm excited.

This is my second child to go through the "braces journey" with Texas Orthodontic Specialist and just like the first time around, everyone is always so friendly and informative.

Dr. Chen was an awful orthodontist along with his staff. He seemed very nonchalant about the multiple concerns that I had with my braces which I had for 3 years. He was not gentle at all, was very short with his responses about my concerns and my braces journey. The team at the fallbrook location were very nasty to me while I was a patient and I even overheard them talking about me while I was in the chair having my adjustments done. I would not recommend this orthodontist at all. I probably only saw Dr. Chen 4 times in the 3 years that I was serviced for my braces, he was not thorough and I felt rushed each time I came to the office. Very disappointed in his work, if you are a person of minority I noticed the office did not have a warm and welcoming attitude.

Staff was great, even with all my calls to reschedule most times. :) My daughter always felt comfortable going to her appointments. My daughter now wants to become an Orthodontist to help other kids teeth as Dr. Chen fixed hers. :)

Dr. Stephen Chen is a very good orthodontic specialist, and a great human being. For people in Houston, our previous orthodontist Dr. Don Speck abandoned more than 500 patients, and we were one of them. Dr. Stephen Chen took us in and completed the remaining 6 months of my daughter's braces at no cost. And he did a fantastic job. We'll definitely recommend him to our friends and family.

I felt safe and very welcomed there. They made me feel as if I definitely mattered and held their word on everything they said. We were called in early, taken care of quickly despite the numerous amounts of people there, the assistants and Dr. Chen were all very polite, patient and helpful, and there was no discomfort at any point in time. I really enjoyed my time there! The office was spotless, comforting, and very inviting for its clients. Everything was done correctly and efficiently. Overall, my experience was flawless and I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chen to everyone that wants that perfect smile!

My daughter has really terrible anxiety and all the staff and providers have made her feel very comfortable during her visits. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and make my daughter feel special.
