Dr. Duraini received a BS in Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas and earned his DDS degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas before moving to San Antonio, Texas to follow his passion to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. During his time in San Antonio he completed Medical School and earned his MD degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Medical School.
Dr. Duraini is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and is well versed in all aspects of the speciality. He is passionate about individualized care and has a special interest in Orthognathic (Corrective Jaw) surgery, Temporomandibular (TMJ) Surgery, Facial Reconstructive Surgery, and the latest in Dental Implants.

Utilizing state of the art equipment, Dr. Duraini can take digital radiographs and images to help diagnose and treat patients; giving them the most predictable and long lasting results. Our imaging room also has a photo backdrop where Dr. Duraini can take pictures to help plan for cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries.
Using technology and techniques available to us today dental patients benefit from better outcomes. With the advent of dental implants and the improvements that took place over the years, they have become some of the most predictable procedures performed in both medicine and dentistry.
Dental Implant gives us the ability to replace the roots of teeth in order to act as the foundation to the missing tooth or teeth. Dental Implants are made out of biocompatible materials (mostly Titanium) allowing bone and tissue to fuse to them and support the functioning tooth replacement.
Dental Implants have quickly become the golden standard for replacing teeth. They are the only form of tooth replacement that is structurally sound and complete. A Dental Implant with a crown does not depend on surrounding teeth for support and does not compromise your remaining teeth in the process. Dental implants are not susceptible to decay and are easier to maintain. Due to the nature and position of Dental Implants they help preserve the form of your jaw bone and decrease the chance of future bone loss.
Third molars, also known as wisdom teeth, are the last set of permanent teeth that grow. For most of us there is limited space to no space for them to erupt. Due to the position and lack of space wisdom teeth are associated with multiple problems.
Wisdom teeth sometimes erupt partially leading to pain and swelling of the surrounding tissue. This can be due to food particles and bacteria that collect in the area of the teeth or due to trauma to the tissue around the teeth.
Other times wisdom teeth are impacted, meaning that the teeth are unable to erupt. This is mostly due to the orientation of the teeth and lack of space. Impacted wisdom teeth can impinge on other teeth and lead to decay, periodontal disease or infection. They can also be associated with the development of cysts, tumors or other pathologic processes. If these lesions get ignored they can increase in size and become more difficult to treat.
The recommendation is to remove wisdom teeth prior to complete development of the roots. Younger patients tend to heal and recover quickly with a decreased chance of complications. Although the recommendations are to remove wisdom teeth prior to age 25 if able, any patient is a candidate for wisdom teeth removal depending on the patients needs.

Great experience. They got me in right away for an for my four-year-olds emergency. Dr D was so kind and great with her. He was patient and stitched up her lip beautifully. Highly recommend. Few months back my seven year old daughter had tooth extraction .I was very nervous as this was the first time our daughter needed to be put under anesthesia. How ever Dr. Duraini and his team helped the process and keep her calm. Pre and post op experience was great. Professional staff. Also his charges was very fair after the surgery we had several visits they were all free . We highly recommend Dr. Duraini and his team. Best in DFW.

I don't like going to dentist because of a bad experience I had 1 time. That being said, I will never go any where else again after my visit with Maxillofacial today. They were so professional and informative and to the point I was totally satisfied with my appointment/Consult that I was not charged for, nor was I charged for the x-ray they did as a precaution for me, I will NEVER go anywhere else. LOVE these guys. Best ever hands down.

I drove 55 minutes to TEXAS MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY for dental implant surgery and surgical removal of a molar tooth and everything went great! The service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Dr. Mazen Duraini and his staff are awesome. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for great maxillofacial and dental surgical care.

I am 57 and have had a life changing experience with Dr. Duraini and he's amazing staff. I am beyond terrified of dentistry due to past horrible experiences so extractions of 2 teeth was just paralyzing to me. Everyone was so kind and patient and my recovery has been incredible, very little pain or swelling and I am and forever will be so grateful to know positive experiences are possible. Thank you!

I am so happy with Dr. Duraini and his staff! I've had a ton of work done on my teeth over the last 25 years (I'm 37) and am really grateful to find a doc that fits all my needs. I have a very low pain tolerance but I was able to get two implants yesterday with ibuprofen only and am so thankful!

I very much do not want to have my wisdom teeth removed, however, if (and when sadly) it has to be done, it will be with Dr. Duraini and no one else! :) During my consult this morning, he was so sweet and answered all of my questions. Thank you for the fabulous experience. Update: Surgery has been completed as of this morning. It I could rate any higher than 5 stars, I absolutely would. I went to Dr. Duraini because of all the great reviews he seems to have, but that was all thrown out the window when I saw him. Both of my discs are out of place bilaterally, and has been for four years. He immediately gave me this look of doubt like he knew he couldn't handle my sort of case. Which is strange because he claims to have done hundreds of TMJ surgeries. He just kept mentioning Dr. Daniel Perez in San Antonio the entirety of my appointment, and how he could do a better job with me basically. If you're needing TMJ surgery/arthroplasty/total joint replacement, I would not waste your time going to see Dr. Duraini. Just go to Dr. Perez in San Antonio like he said haha Or Dr. Piper in Florida if you can afford to. I do have to say, Dr. Duraini is very nice and his staff are very very friendly. I would go there for wisdom teeth issues or non-invasive procedures. I believe he's more knowledgeable in those fields, not chronic TMJ cases.

When I first visited the office I felt so welcomed and the staff is truly outstanding and friendly. They were always willing to schedule my appointment that fit my schedule. I had 8 teeth pulled!!! Yes 8!!!! And the procedure went by quicker than I had anticipated. Staff and doctors are very knowledgeable and made my experience smooth and comfortable. Highly recommend this place especially if oral surgery is new to you and can be scary. This group of amazing people will definitely take great care of you!!!!
