Eastshore Pediatric Dental Group is in Pinole, conveniently located off Appian Way close to highway 80. Our specialists are committed to delivering excellent pediatric dental care to our patients in Pinole and the surrounding areas of the East Bay.

We see children from infants to age 18. We endorse the policy of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, which advises all children be seen by a dentist by age one. Seeing your child at age one allows us to focus on education and prevention of dental disease. We can guide you and your child from from a young age to help achieve a healthy smile, and we become a dental home for your child.

We accept MasterCard and Visa as well as personal checks and cash. We also offer Care Credit as a financing option. If you have questions about payment, please ask a member of our staff and we will review our payment options to accommodate your financial needs. If special arrangements are needed, please talk you our office manager prior to receiving services

We are preferred providers (in-network) with many preferred provider organizations (PPOs). The estimated amount we expect your plan to reimburse us is accepted as a form of payment but any deductibles and co-pays are due at the time of service. As a courtesy to you we will bill your insurance company.

We file all insurance claims electronically so your insurance company will have your claim within days of treatment. We use a computer program to estimate the benefits provided by your plan. Please understand this is only an ESTIMATE.

There are hundreds if not thousands of insurance plans for dentistry and any one company can have many different levels of benefits. We can only assist you in estimating your portion of the cost of the treatment. We at no time guarantee what your insurance company will or will not do with each claim. Employers frequently change insurance plans. Please keep us informed of any changes as they may significantly affect your benefit level. We suggest you contact your insurance carrier directly for more definitive information regarding your costs. Dr. Thea S. Dosanjh and Dr. Teri L. Kim are board certified specialists in the field of pediatric dentistry. Both Doctors completed an additional two year training program after completing their dental degrees, which makes them uniquely qualified to meet the dental needs of children through all stages of development.

Dr. Kim is originally from Sacramento, California and attended college at the University of California, Davis. She received her dental degree from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in New York City. After dental school, she completed a two year hospital program and received her pediatric specialty training at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Although she loves New York, California is where her heart belongs. She returned to California and joined La Clinica De La Raza, a non-profit organization located in the UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital in Oakland as a full time faculty. During her time there, she served as an associate clinical professor for the Department of Orofacial Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco where she was training pediatric dental residents. She has received multiple grants and recognitions from both the National Health Service Corps and the California Dental Association for her dedication and active role in providing pediatric dental care to the underserved children.

Dr. Kim is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Society, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Contra Costa Dental Society. She is on staff and has privileges to treat patients at UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital in Oakland and Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland.

Dr. Thea Dosanjh, or Dr. Thea, as her patients know her, knows how important is for children to feel comfortable going to the dentist. Dr. Theas goal is for her patients to have a great experience at the dentist and leave the office smiling.

Dr. Thea grew up in Fairfield, CA, and completed her undergraduate studies from California State University at Sacramento, where she graduated summa cum laude. She received her dental degree from University of California at San Francisco, where she was honored with a Regents scholarship. After graduation from dental school, Dr. Thea attended a two year pediatric dental specialty program at Eastman Dental in Rochester, NY.

Dr. Thea is committed to serving the East Bay community, and was thrilled that her first place of employment as a pediatric dentist was with La Clinica de la Raza, a non-profit organization, located in the Oakland Childrens Hospital. At Childrens Hospital, Dr. Thea further honed her skills of treating children with special behavioral and medical needs.

Dr. Thea is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the California Dental Association, and the Contra Costa Dental Society. She holds a certificate in oral conscious sedation, and has hospital privileges at the UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital Oakland, and Kaiser Oakland.

Dr. Thea spends her spare time with her husband, Raminder, her son Ronan, her daughter Sylvie, and her lab Frodo. You are likely to find them outdoors; hiking, camping, and exploring the Bay Area. She and her family love to travel, but she is just as happy to be at home in the East Bay, or to be at work with her amazing patients!

Our office takes pride in our exemplary infection control standards. Your childs safety is the utmost importance to us. We meet or exceed the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Dental Association (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Every year the office has an on-site, seminar with an infection control and OSHA industry leader, Tom Terry. He inspects all of our daily protocols, machines, and instruments, and conducts a personalized training with the entire team. We are proud to be in the top 2% of all dental offices for excellent infection control and protocol, and that we are listed on his website as an exceptional dental office.

1.Our autoclave: We use a class B, hospital grade, autoclave for instrument sterilization. Class-B sterilizers create a vacuum, thus removing air from the load prior to the chamber being pressurized with steam. This technique allows faster and more effective steam penetration throughout the entire instrument load than non- class B autoclaves, ensuring full sterilization.

2.Our disinfectant: As is industry standard, we clean all surfaces between patients with a medical grade disinfectant. We currently are using Optim-33 to maintain a clean and safer working environment. It is very effective, non irritating to eyes and skin, has no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and has an EPA Toxicity Level of 4 no warnings required.

3.Our instrument pouches: Triple parameter sterilization pouches give the highest sterility assuranceBuilt-in internal/externalmulti-parameter indicators only change color when all 3 criteria for sterilization have been met (heat, time, and steam). This is superior to traditional sterilization pouches with a Class 1 process indicator that measures only temperature.

4.Our water lines: More people are learning about biofilm, a term used to describe bacteria that can build up on the inside of water lines. To inhibit this bacterial growth, we use Dentapure water filtration systems in every chair to help ensure the water going in to your childs mouth is clean. DentaPure is an in-line attachment dental water that is EPA labeled to purify incoming water to 200 cfu/ml bacteria or below. The technology uses iodinated resin technology, contains no allergenic proteins, and allows for very clean water without the need for chemicals or tablets. It is an FDA cleared and EPA registered antimicrobial product that meets and exceeds microbiological standards including OSAP, ADA & CDC.

5.Our training: Dental assistants learn sterilization techniques in their formal training, and registered dental assistants are tested on their knowledge by the state to receive their licenses. All our staff is closely monitored during their training periods, and we ensure our staff is confident with our technology before they leave their training period. Yearly on-site meetings with an infection control expert ensure we are staying up to date.

2.Scheduling: We schedule our xrays based on individual patient need and cavity risk. This means we do not automatically take xrays at every six month exam. We are happy to discuss your childs recommended xray schedule with you, based on the ADA guidelines.

We are all exposed to natural daily background radiation from sources such as the sun, the soil, and the air. To put things in perspective, two dental bitewing xrays to screen for cavities in between the back teeth are equivalent to 1 day of background radiation.
