During high school and college, Dr. Kirk worked in a hospital and the experiences he had throughout these formative years piqued his interest in a career in healthcare. He recognized early that a healthy, strong smile has a profound effect on a persons confidence and quality of life, so he decided that he wanted to become an oral surgeon. A native of Tennessee, Dr. Kirk stayed in his home state and earned his degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors in 1994.
During his last year in dental school, Dr. Kirk was selected by the United States Navy to participate in a post-graduate residency in general dentistry. After completing his Navy residency, Dr. Kirk served as a Dental Officer and Department Head for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four Zero (NMCB 40). Upon leaving active duty, Dr. Kirk was selected as one of two dentists for advanced training in anesthesia at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He then went on to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Memphis for his Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, and received his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in June of 2002. He has been practicing in Lebanon, Tennessee for nearly 20 years.

I got my wisdom teeth removed today and I was extremely nervous leading up to the moment I sat in the chair. Kelsey was the surgical assistant and she helped my nerves almost fully melt away. Dr. Kirk came in and had a brief conversation about Star Wars with me before the anesthesia kicked in. I was extremely happy with the entire process and how gentle the staff was. I highly recommend them!!

Dr Kirk and his team made a scary situation not scary and helped so much . They have always been fantastic with our family and we will continue to be grateful for such a awesome team of people working together !! And our nurse Natoshia was the best!!!

I was a NERVOUS wreck getting my wisdom teeth removed. I hate the dentist already and when I heard the words "oral surgery" I panicked. Dr. Kirk not only removed my wisdom teeth quickly. I don't even remember it since I was sedated. I have just about been pain free! It's floored me! I was terrified for nothing! It has not stopped me at all! If you need wisdom teeth removed go see him! He's amazing. His whole team was so sweet and friendly. His nurse especially helped calmed my fears and she was just the sweetest ever. I would recommend them to anyone. When it's my kiddos turn this will definitely be where I take him. Thank you so much for making this so much easier!

(I'm sorry my review is long) Let me start by saying I have never had to have oral surgery until now. Being in my 30s and I especially hate mouth pain, I was very scared. The consultation was quick, he ordered new x-rays when my current ones were only 3 weeks old to make sure he knew what we needed to do. I have a complicated issue with a wisdom tooth being inclined with clusters of nerves. He gave me 3 options and vocalize his experienced facts and opinions to me. My procedure was fast. This is the first medical facility to not blow any veins in my arms or hands. (Which is saying A LOT having been to about 63 different hospitals in my life.) I had some worries after I went home and each time I spoke with the surgical nurses they were amazingly kind and patient with my questions. The receptionist was so kind to walk me through directions to their office until she saw my car pull in! By the way, it is NOT in the hospital where Google says it is. Look for the only USA flag above the door across and down from the family medical clinic.. Go here if you've never had work done or you need someone who knows what they are doing! Thank you!!!!

I had my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr.Kirk. They made everything so easy from start to finish! The level of care provided was excellent. I was sedated for the procedure and didnt feel a thing . Post operative care was also excellent. So far my recovery has been far easier and more comfortable than extractions I've had in the past and I fully attribute that to the wonderful staff at Dr.kirks office.

At my consultation I informed Dr. Kirk that I do not do well with IVs. He told me he was "confident in his ability to do an IV." Not feeling to confident I informed them I have severe panic attacks. They gave me .5mg to take the night before and the day of. I panicked as soon as we pulled up. I cried while paying and sitting in the room. Instead of being comforting or helpful I got told I needed to calm down and that it was my fault my veins were collapsing, which I understand, but as a doctor I feel he should learn to be empathetic and understanding. My arm was bruised for 3 weeks.

Dr. Kirk treated my daughter and I very poorly. When we went in for the consultation, my daughter asked him a question and he responded in a strained way. Later on when we came in for the surgery, she had a very mild panic attack once she saw the needle. Not only did he come into the room without saying a word, but he also refused to even give us a chance. He walked out and aborted the surgery right then and there. The other reviews said that he calmed down the patients that were scared, but that did not happen in our case. This is correct display of bedside manner whatsoever. We apologized for the panic attack (that my daughter couldn't control) and waited 2 minutes for her to calm down. I begged the assistant to let us do it after my daughter calmed down since I took a day off for this. Dr. Kirk sent her back with the message that he wouldn't do the surgery. This was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional.

Dr. Russell and his staff were amazing! I would highly recommend his office to anyone requesting the services provided. He treated my husband and I with great respect and was easy to talk to. My husband is not a fan of having anything checked into dental wise. When we left he said that was the best doctor he had ever dealt with for oral care.

Very satisfied with services provided for my son's surgery. He had his his wisdom teeth removed and has been a relatively pain free experience. Very efficient and very professional! Highly recommended for any oral surgery needs.
