Teddy Bear Childrens Dentistry opened in November 2019 when Dr. Renata Da Fonseca took over the existing Pediatric dental practice. We serve patients fromthe following areas and beyond: West Hills, Woodland Hills, Chatsworth, Northridge, Tarzana, Canoga Park, Reseda, Encino, Porter Ranch, Calabasas, Simi Valley, and the surrounding areas. Our address is 23101 Sherman Place, Suite 201 in West Hills, CA.
Our practice has a reputation for offering comprehensive pediatric dental care in a friendly, inviting, and professional environment. When you visit our practice, you're not just another smile you are family! We practice with compassion, treating all of our patients with respect and individuality as each patient and family has different needs.
Dr. Renata Da Fonseca is a native of Brasil. She attended dental school at Universidade De Mogi Das Cruzes, in Sao Paulo, Brasil. She practiced dentistry for more than eight years in Brasil before leaving it all behind to pursue her dream of a specialization in pediatric dentistry in the United States. She attended a two-year dental program for internationally trained dentists in order to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and become licensed to practice dentistry in the United States.
After working for several years in California as a general dentist seeing only pediatric patients, she went after her dream and pursued a specialization in pediatric dentistry. She attended a three-year post doctorate program in pediatric dentistry at the University of Puerto Rico to earn her specialist degree and dedicated extensive time in the research department working on her thesis. Shes published several papers about different topics including the guidelines and protocols for the dental treatment of pediatric patients with special needs.
Dr. Fon is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, which allows her to serve patients from diverse backgrounds. She considers herself very fortunate to be a pediatric dental specialist because it really fulfills her desire to help kids, which is one of the things she loves and cherishes the most.
My mission as a dentist is to change how pediatric patients perceive the dental experience; shifting a childs state of mind from fear to feeling comfortable at their dental visits is the reason why I do what I do. I take so much pride when I see patients are as happy to see me as I am to see them! I cannot see myself doing anything but working with kids! I believe every small act of kindness can create a better world around us. No kid will be in dental pain under my watch!

I love this dentist! The entire staff here are so great and kind! I've been bringing my son here since he was 10 months and he's 2 now. Dr. Fonseca is so nice and you can just tell she loves her job as well as all the nurses. She takes the time to answer any questions and takes her time during cleanings. Even though my son has been coming here for a while he is still not a fan of getting his teeth clean but the Dr and staff have so much patience for him. I also love that they schedule little ones alone so no other patients are in the office so you don't have to worry about them crying and scaring the other kids. Definitely recommend this dentist!

Dr Fon is amazing!!! I have an 8-year-old and a 2 year old that used to be afraid of the dentist but because of her they look forward of going to every appointment that is scheduled doctor is very patient very loving and treats them like if they were her own children from making sure they're comfortable before she gets started on any work that needs to be done and she also has great communication skills the staff that are in that office are also amazing and very front when it comes to setting appointments to reminding me have soon upcoming appointments. When I called to see if my son's insurance was accepted Lucia helped me not only did she find out for me but she helped make an appointment. She truly went out of her way and got me the help I needed. And for that a 5 star. The Dr was amazing and the DA's were so sweet. I'll be coming back for sure :)

Dr. Da Fonseca is an amazing dentist. She is kind and really friendly with kids. She explained and educated our kids really well. They also accommodated our daughter with her disability. I really appreciate the dentist's patience and gentle touch. The staff was really friendly too. I recommend this place.

I absolutely love Dr. Da Fonseca and her staff. Every time we take our daughters to have their teeth cared for by Dr. Da Fonseca it has been a fabulous experience! We have had routine cleanings, X-rays and check ups as well as extractions of baby loose teeth that were hanging on. My daughters love the office, love the assistants and love to be with Dr. Da Fonseca. I have recommended two other families that had horrible experiences elsewhere, and they are both thrilled, happy and so pleased to have Dr. Da Fonseca as their child's dentist too! As a parent it is so important to find a warm, caring and friendly environment for your child when it comes to doctors and dentists and you will find nothing but the best here! Professional, kind, thourough, caring, and they somehow make going to the dentist a "fun" experience for our little ones! I wish I could have her as my dentist! :) Thank you Teddy Bear Children's Dentistry and Dr. Da Fonseca, you are the best!

I am so happy with the dentist and staff at this facility. Both my kids go there, an 11 year old and almost 2 year old. We have always had a pleasant experience, the dentist is very helpful, kind, and has a lot of information about teeth that I never knew about! My little girl loves seeing her! She had her first ever dentist visit here and there was never one tear! Thank you to everyone here for being so nice and patient. I wish dr. Fun was my dentist! And I feel very safe coming here with my kids during covid, they go above and beyond making sure everyone stays safe

My little sister's appointment has been cancelled and rescheduled three times. The reason they told my mom was because there was a two-year-old that had an appointment and they couldn't be in the office at the same time. My mom was very upset and told me that she feels that they don't want to see my little sister as a patient so she requested for me to look for a new dentist for her and cancel the appointment they had just rescheduled. I then called and spoke to Lucia to cancel the appointment and I also asked for my sister's insurance information because my mom accidentally lost her insurance card and they obviously have it on file. Initially she told me I can email the request with my identification and I told her that I completely understand that I will have my mom fill out the documents and I can send it back to her but then she changed her mind and told me that I needed to call the insurance company directly to get the member ID, and was really rude about it! I also work in the medical field so I know there's a written release required which we were prepared to do and for some reason she just didn't want to give us the member ID and wasn't going to accept the correct documentation, it doesn't make sense. If a dental office can choose and pick what child they want to provide care for and which ones they don't there's definitely something wrong there! My mom completely forgot about one appointment and so she had to cancel it because she wasn't gonna make it on time which happens to everybody life can get the best of us sometimes but after that occurred they started treating my mom and little sister different. I would encourage you to look elsewhere for dental services for your child because no one should have to deal with this. Somebody even had the nerve to tell my mom that "She has Medi-Cal they will take her anywhere" who says that! So disrespectful!

We have been going to Teddy Bear Children's Dentistry for 10+ years, and have always had a fantastic experience. Dr. da Fonseca has a wonderful way with her patients, and has a very calming personality, which is especially helpful for kids with any dentist anxiety. And, the rest of the staff is always friendly and accommodating. We always recommend Teddy Bear to any friends who need a new pediatric dentist.

If I COULD HAVE EVERY SINFLE PARENT TAKE THEIR KIDS HERE INSO TOTALLY WOULD! They have the most compassionate staff and make sure the kids are always comfortable before they start any kind of work. My kids and I are so happy we found Dr. Fonseca, she takes her time with her patients. She makes my kiddos comfortable. Dr. Fonseca will take the time to call you back if needed on emergencies outside office hours. She's very good if not excellent on following up after any dental procedure. We always feel like we are family when we see her. I highly recommend Dr. Fonseca for your children/teenager, specially if you have a child that is very scare of Dentist. Dr. Fonseca will make the experience a positive one and your kiddo would love to go back and get any dental work done.

Dr Renata Da Fonseca was AWESOME! Our son is normally very nervous and has always put up a fight going to the dentist. She was more than Patience with my son and by the end he was not afraid and he was more receptive to her than to us. Patience is a Virtue and She has that Trait. Complete Rock Star in Our Book!!!!
