For Dr. Laura Olsen Taylor, dentistry has been a family tradition for many years, and she and our team would like for you to become a part of that tradition. We offer a diverse line of dental treatments, including routine dental care, cosmetic options and periodontal treatments, which we combine into your personal dental care plan.

We are committed to helping all of our patients enjoy great oral health and beautiful smiles. We provide dental treatments for every member of the family, and we also feature comprehensive dental exams to bring out the best your smile has to offer. Your oral exam will include:

Dr. Laura Olsen Taylor was raised in Mooresville, North Carolina, and graduated as Salutatorian from Lake Normal High School in 2005.She attended the University ofNorth Carolina Wilmingtonfor vocal performance with a minor in chemistry and graduated summa cum laude in 2009. She spent time studying at Ulm Universitat in Ulm, Germany, and attended UNC Charlotte for her post-baccalaureate work. She performed as a soloist with the Wilmington Symphony, toured with a chorale in Europe, and is currently a member of the Davidson Choral Arts Society and a regular cantor at St. Therese. She attended dental school atCase Western Reserve University, graduating with her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2014. She has practiced dentistry in the Mooresville area since that time and took over Olsen Taylor General Dentistry from her parents in June 2016. As a dentist her goal is to help her patients achieve and maintain good oral health through treatment plans that meet their individual needs.

Dr. Taylor has a great passion for learning and is a lifelong student. She is committed to continued education to raise the standard of care in her practice and in her community, and she actively seeks out continuing education courses to advance her knowledge and skillset. Dr. Taylor has received advanced training in the Turbyfill Denture technique and advanced comprehensive and full-mouth reconstruction training throughDawson Academy. Dr. Taylor is a scholar and alumni of the Dawson Academy, having completed the core curriculum through their program. She is also the study club leader for the Dawson Academy in the northwest part of North Carolina. She is a member of theAmerican Dental Association, the American Ccademy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Charlotte Area Study Club and the Seattle Study Club.

Dr. Taylor and her husband, Cameron, have been married since 2011. They have two sons, Liam and Colin, and four rescue cats Zetti, Bella, Cosette and Izzy. Outside of the office, her hobbies include classical music, playing piano and musical theater. She also loves hiking and camping in the mountains with her husband and sons, water skiing with her father and kayaking with her mother.

Dr. Taylor is many things a dentist, a business owner and even an opera singer! She is also a busy wife and mother. She loves taking care of our patients smiles and makes time outside of the office for her family. You can trust Dr. Taylor to give you and your family the same care that she gives her own.

After earning her AB in psychology at the University of Michigan and a masters degree in guidance and counseling atWayne State University, Dr. Donna Olsen received her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the School of Dentistry atCase Western Reserve Universityin 1985. She is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental fraternity, and as a senior at Case Western Reserve, she received the Oral Medicine Award. She completed her general practice residency at the Lakeside VA Medical Center and one year of post-graduate work in oral pathology at the University of Chicago Zoller Clinic. She also studied the Dawson Center Curriculum. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Second District Dental Society and the Academy of Dentistry International

She practiced dentistry for 31 years, beginning as an interim director at a dental clinic in Huntersville Oaks. She entered into private practice in Charlotte in 1992 and then moved to Mooresville, where she and her husband, Richard, practiced until 2016. Throughout her career, she always strove to help patients maintain their best possible dentition, ensure that their smiles functioned comfortably and have aesthetically pleasing smiles throughout their lives.

Dr. Olsen says that it was a total surprise when their daughter said that she planned to go to dental school, since she had always been focused on music and performance. She is humbled that the example she and her husband set inspired their daughter to follow in their footsteps. She has been very proud to watch Dr. Taylor develop into a caring, accomplished dentist and a compassionate business owner.

Now that she is retired, Dr. Olsen spends her time kayaking, cooking, gardening and reading. She also serves as a guardian ad litem for Iredell County. While she enjoys having time to spend with her family and grandchildren, she misses the relationships she had with her patients and staff.

Dr. Richard Olsen graduated fromEastern Michigan Universitywith a major in chemistry and minor in biology in 1978. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at theUniversity of Michiganin 1980. He served his general practice residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit in 1980 and 1981 and completed the Dawson Center Continuum. He spent 13 years teaching graduate dental studies at the Carolina Medical Center and was in private practice until 2016. He is a member of the American Dental Association, theNorth Carolina Dental Association, the Iredell County Dental Society, thePierre Fauchard Academy, theAcademy of Dentistry International, and theInternational College of Dentists.

As a dentist, he made it a priority to provide quality, comprehensive care to patients who desired to be pain-free and enjoy a high level of function and great aesthetics for their smiles. He is married to Donna, who is his wife, friend and colleague. They have a daughter, Laura, and a son, Erik.

When Dr. Taylor told him that she wanted to become a dentist, he was shocked on one hand, since she was always focused on music, but on the other, we was not surprised since she is highly motivated and directed and wants to help others. He enjoyed working with her and never thought that he could work side by side with his child. Dr. Taylor has proven to be what he expected: a motivated dentist who has turned into a highly-skilled practitioner.

Now that he is retired, Dr. Olsen enjoys not having to set his alarm and having more time to spend with his grandkids. He enjoys woodworking, waterskiing, reading and gardening, as well as traveling and DIY home improvement projects. But he still misses the relationships with the patients and staff that he has had the privilege to know.

Rachel joined us in February 2018. She appreciates Dr. Taylors passion for helping her patients and the care and commitment each member of our team shows toward one another and our patients. She also enjoys our constant push toward excellence in dentistry and to bettering ourselves as people, coworkers, employees and providers.

Holly joined our team in January 2016. She completed her Dental Assistant II training in 2008 at Central Piedmont Community College and earned her Associate of Dental Hygiene degree in 2010 at Catawba Valley Community College. Holly is a member of the Hygiene Study Club. She enjoys working with our team to meet common goals and provide excellent patient care, and she is always continuing to learn in addition to providing top-notch dentistry. Outside of the office, Holly enjoys spending time with her family, going to the lake and watching the Carolina Panthers.

DENTAL ASSISTANT II Heather joined our team in July 2017. She graduated with honors from Mooresville High School in 2012 and completed the Lake Norman Dental Assisting program in 2016. She loves learning new things and interacting with our patients to help them smile again. She is excited to be part of such a great office and about her future here as a dental assistant. When she is not in our office, Heather enjoys being outside, kayaking, working out, traveling to Florida and watching the Carolina Panthers play.

Our office has been providing dentistry in Mooresville, North Carolina, and the surrounding areas since 1991, and Dr. Laura Olsen Taylor is proud to be part of a family tradition of excellent dental care. Although you may know our office as Olsen Taylor General Dentistry, we are excited to debut our new name: Taylord Smiles. As you have probably guessed, the new name is a play on the custom Taylord comprehensive dentistry we do, along with reconstructions that are Taylord to each individuals needs, not just tooth-by-tooth dentistry. And it also reflects the history of the practice when it was owned by Dr. Taylors parents, Dr. Richard Olsen and Dr. Donna Olsen.

Our original practice logo was based on the philosophy of theDawson Academy, whose principles form the foundation of our practice. The Dawson Academy trains dentist to look at the bigger picture when it comes to our patients smiles as well as effectively doing everyday dentistry to create healthy jaw joints and bites. In our approach, we look at the patients oral and systemic health, soft tissues, teeth, bone, and musculature of the face and mouth.

Our second logo was created when Dr. Taylors parents sold the practice in Charlotte and opened the Mooresville office in 2008. It was then that Dr. Taylor expressed her interest in dentistry instead of continuing to study opera in graduate school. That logo reflected the family of dentists at our practice.

The logo was modernized once Dr. Taylor purchased the practice in 2016, but we kept some of the same themes. Dr. Taylor spent the next four years coming into her own as a dentist and making the practice her own while still retaining the precision and foundation her parents created. In 2020, she decided it was time to rebrand the practice.

Dr. Taylor and her staff are a well oiled machine!!! There is a job to do and they get it done! Todays rockstar is Heather! She removed a temp crown, prepared the base, and constructed the porcelain final crown. All under the watchful eye of Dr. Taylor of course. Well done ladies!

I am a new patient and had an emergency visit with Dr. Taylor. She and her team were extremely patient with me and were able to get me in right away. Within 2 hours! Rachel, the Office Manager, was extremely kind and helpful. I walked away feeling maybe going to the dentist isn't as bad as I always imaged it would be. I would recommend to anyone who has anxiety about dentists to see Dr. Taylor and her team.

I felt comfortable and taken care of. The dentist knows what she's doing and tells me what she's doing so I can relax while I'm there instead of wondering what is happening.

Me and my wife have been going to Dr. Taylor for years. Her and her staff are always amazing. Today our son had a dental emergency and she was willing to take time out of her day to come and help him. She helped calm all of us down and was able to give our son the help he needed. Thank you Dr. Taylor. You are the best.

We just returned to Taylor'd Smiles after about a 2.5 year hiatus due largely to Covid. Happy to report that they are still very customer oriented, friendly, proficient in their positions at the practice. I am ecstatic about high we were treated today. I cannot recommend them highly enough

Our family loves Dr Taylor and her staff! I trust her expert opinion and the advice she offers on dealing with our unique needs. My son was born with a cleft and from age 4 she began mapping out a plan to ensure his needs are met throughout his development. When we have work that goes beyond a simple routine check up she personally calls to make sure everyone is recovering well. She genuinely cares for her patients and provides outstanding care.

I am very pleased with Taylor'd Smiles. I was a walk-in and was fortunate to get an appointment quickly. Rachel was knowlogible, had answers to my needs. I had a tooth that was getting painful. Dr. Taylor extracted it today. I did not suffer any pain before, during or after the procedure, as a matter of fact, I went to various stores to shop after I left the office. I had no side effects. I highly recommend Taylor'd Smiles.and her courteous and professional staff.
