Dr. Shelley Tardy established Tardy Orthodontics in 1993. Her son grew up working in the family business and developed a passion for the industry at an early age. Dr. Calvin Tardy decided to carry on her legacy by also pursuing a path in Orthodontics. Their collaboration in business has created a nice harmony as they continue to strengthen each other. As the saying goes, iron sharpens iron. They are both passionate about creating beautiful smiles that boost self-confidence and improve overall dental health. Dr. Calvin Tardys extreme understanding of computers and technology are an added bonus to the practice as the Orthodontic industry increases both digitally and through 3D imaging. These Board-Certified Orthodontists are excited about the endless possibilities as they continue working alongside each other.
Dr. Tardy is a specialist in the profession of orthodontics and facial orthopedics. After obtaining a Bachelor of Chemistry from Texas Tech University, she began dental training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree to practice dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Tardy moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to study the dental specialty of orthodontics. She completed her Residency while earning her Master of Science Degree and Orthodontic Specialty Certificate at Indiana University College of Dentistry. She conducted numerous extensive research projects throughout her education with the primary focus on bone physiology and dental implants. She has presented her award-winning research nationally and internationally. Dr. Tardy is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Tardy graduated from Martin High School in Arlington and completed his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University in Business-Management Information Systems with a minor in Chemistry. Upon the completion of four years of dental school, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio. Following dental school, Dr. Tardy was selected to stay at the dental school where he completed a three-year post-doctorate program in Orthodontics with a Master of Science degree. His comprehensive orthodontic specialty training along with his computer and technology background are a fantastic addition to the services we provide at Tardy Orthodontics. Dr. Tardy is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Shelley Tardy launched a local chapter of the non-profit, Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, as a way to give back and invest in the future of local underserved children. Smile for a Lifetime Foundations mission is to create self-confidence, inspire hope, and change the lives of children in our community through the gift of a smile.
She has not only helped people in her own community, but in both Ethiopia and Guatemala on dental mission trips. She conducted free clinics with other dental professionals in remote villages that lack appropriate dental care.
Both Drs. Tardy appreciate having the opportunity to provide dental care to those in need. They have been involved with Texas Mission of Mercy through the Texas Dental Association. Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) is a mobile dental clinic that travels around the state providing free basic dental care to Texans with limited resources and/or access to care.
Dr. Tardy along with two of her friends founded a non-profit organization that manages an annual fun run event for women to help provide financial support to SafeHaven, a domestic violence shelter. Through this effort they have been able to bring thousands of women together to support this cause.

We've been using Tardy orthodonics for several year now. My son was in braces first and it was a wonderful experience from the front desk to the doctors. Now my daughter just got braces on and was super nervous. They made her feel comfortable and welcome. I have nothing negative to say about this practice and would reccommend both Dr. Tardy's.

Was recommended the permanent lower retainer. One time I came in mentioning that my lower front teeth don't feel right all of the sudden. The staff didn't check my retainer well enough to notice that it was broken. My teeth went on to hurt until my next schedule check up where I mentioned my teeth again and they said "oh, looks like it's broken." They then gave me a plastic bottom retainer to keep my now crooked teeth where they were, and then gave me a bill for their mistake, no apologies (because then they would have to admit they were wrong and give me a free retainer or worse yet, actually put my teeth back to where they were supposed to be. I also remember being told the dark space between my teeth and the sides of my lips would be fixed during the initial screening. This did not happen. So, to summarize, inattentive staff, apathetic response to their own mistakes, greedy practices of charging customers more for services that the doctor made a necessity, and false promises. It's great for kids who don't know any better, but they use their authority to scare children into giving good reviews to their parents since the general staff mention how disappointed the parents would be if the "braces don't do well," so children have to say the teeth came out 100% as intended so as to not make their parents feel bad about all the money wasted. Avoid. Below is a response from the Office that is stating I did not go to Tardy's, however I can accurately describe a game room on the far left front side of the building that had numerous game consoles for young people to play while they wait. I acutely remember turning off Walnut Creek to enter this location. In their response they even agree with my point that when a permanent retainer (thin wire) is broken, they come up with a new plan and charge you for it, even when they don't check it when you mention teeth pain right where the retainer is located. The deflected response is all you need to see from them to know you shouldn't trust this location.

The staff was courteous and efficient. The explanation provided by the orthodontist regarding treatment was thorough, and he was transparent about all aspects of potential treatment. I needed a retainer, and it was immediately made with minimal wait-time. At every step of the way and in each interaction with a staff member, the highest standards of customer service were reached and exceeded. I have recently found myself in many health-related offices and my experience with this practice was the most satisfying.

Rumor has it this place used to be good but that has NOT been our experience. We've dealt with incompetent Techs for years. Appointments that run long because they don't know what they're doing. Additional trips back to deal with wires that were left hanging out & stabbing a cheek. Business hours that are the opposite of what you need for a school aged child. Additional charges & time added in to a supposedly inclusive price. Horrible experience. Dr Tardy has 1 foot out the door towards retirement.

ILL BE THE FIRST TOO MAKE A UGLY REVIEW !! THIS DR. IS PROUD OF HER EDUCATION AND CHARGES FOR IT TOO ! A VERY MONEY HUNGRY OFFICE !! Also too get any referals u MUST BE IN A TREATMENT PLAN LOCK IN TAKING 1000S OF DOLLARS ! AND BRACES ON B4 EXTRACTING AN EXTRA TOOTH TOO HAVE MORE CONTROL OF TEETH ???...!! MAKES NO SENCE!!!! I can't recommend Tardy Orthodontics enough. My three kids, and most recently myself, have all received excellent care. The entire office is caring and professional. The Drs. and techs are extremely skilled and use the very latest technology. Their focus is to give each patient a great experience with the end result being a perfect and beautiful smile.

Absolutely Love Dr. Tardy and her staff. All three of my kids went to her almost 10 years ago and they still get compliments on their smiles! We just recently went back to her office due to dental issues and had to adjust a retainer and we were welcomed back! I would highly recommend her for your braces needs. My kids always are complimented on their smiles!

I give it one star just for the receptionist and staff but Dr. Tardy very unprofessional made me feel uncomfortable seemed like she was to rushed and also very rude never in my life have i met someone so impolite. Business needs to shut down
