Dr. Chan has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years. He attained his BA in Biophysics/ Medical Physics from UC Berkeley during the year of the 'Big Play'.... GO BEARS!. He graduated with honors from the University of Pacific Dental School in 1986.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and the San Mateo County Dental Society. He keeps updated with current techniques and innovations in dentistry through continuing education classes. He regularly volunteers at the Samaritan House Free Dental Clinic and the CDA Cares events throughout California.
He and his wife of 32 years, Gwen , have three lovely daughters. They all enjoy traveling, hiking , golfing, cooking , baking and eating out way too much. Feel free to chat about his experiences and favorites before your mouth is stuck in the open position.

I started coming here after my veneer feel off on a Sunday, and they were the only place listed open. I didn't call that day. However, after reading the yelp reviews, I ended up making an appointment because I desperately needed care. It was an amazing choice. I have been going here for 3 or 4 years now. Dr. Chan and Dr. Hoo have amazing bedside manner. The rest of their staff is very kind, and I feel well cared for when I come here. Even though I am I petrified of dentists, I am way more at ease there than I was at previous dental offices. I also really appreciate the wait times. I can't think of a time I was waiting longer than 5 minutes. The appointment times are also refreshing; I was able to go at 6 PM on a Tuesday! I definitely recommend giving this clinic a try! In the 2020 pandemic: It's also worth noting that their COVID-19 precautions are top notch. As someone who has some risks for severe infection, I have barely left my house since February. I was very impressed by the variety of methods they use to protect against the spread.

The experience was great! Helped me on time for my appointment, comforted me while I was nervous and informed me everything I needed to know. Best service you can't go wrong with Tanforan dental.
